Chapter 99 Learn professionally?
Soon ten days have gone by, but a day has gone by without Klaus telling me about his way and awesome pics he took. Boy do they move around a lot. I have been practicing a lot for the showcase that's coming up in…four days!!! I'm so nervous, I've been squeezing the soul out of the stress ball Klaus gave me.
“I can do this!” I assured myself as I turned on the background song for my musical. After I've been told that my act mustn't exceed seven minutes I have been trying to make up something that won't last as long.
One thing about MSA is that there's a room for every act. And conveniently for me I'm the only one doing a musical so I have the whole room to myself. It's a small sound proof room on the top floor of the Arts building. Lots of stairs but it's worth it.
The room has a little railing like in the ballet room two doors over. The only difference is that there's no mirrors.
As the music played I began to act and to sing to my heart's content. I practiced and practiced until I was sure I could do the act in my sleep.
“Grrrrrrr” my stomach growled in protest to the fact I haven't eaten anything decent today. I checked the time it was a few minutes to 4. “Time to call it a day” I sighed as I turned off the music and picked up the boom box.
Confidence comes after you've taken the first step I read off one of the inspirational signboards that littered the school. This one was my personal favorite and it has become my mantra.
I went to the café that Jay and I came to the last time I was here except now it has become my hang out spot. Though it's just me.
I ordered my usually as I was thinking on whether to text Klaus or call him. I decided on the latter. His phone rang for a bit. I thought he must be busy and was about to end the call when he picked at the last second.
“Hey potato face. Miss me?” his teasing voice reverberated through my very being.
“In actuality, yes, yes I do miss you. I miss your hugs and your kisses and I hate that you're so far away. I'm just a tiny bit close to flying to wherever you are and hold you close and never let go.” I whined.
Silence
The silence was so long that the waiter already brought my order.
“Klaus? Are you there?” I checked the screen again to be sure the call wasn't disconnected.
“I’m here cupcake. I really really miss you too and I can't begin to describe how much I love you.”
“Oh, for a second there I thought you've gone awol.” I said as I breathed a sigh of relief.
“I could never go awol on you Tessa. Also I have news.”
“Oh tell me tell me.” I asked excitedly.
“I will…after you finish eating,” he said. And from his tone I knew he wasn't joking. I began stuffing my face as fast as I could. I finished with a burp I prayed nobody heard.
“Done!” I said as I set my water bottle firmly on the table.
“I can't believe you rushed the whole thing” he chuckled “Anyways, Your dad has been talking to me about…this photography stuff I'm doing.”
I gulped.
Was dad firing him?
Did he think that Klaus wasn't good enough?
Oh I pray not. Klaus would be so disappointed. Whatever it is, I'll be there for him.
“And he has decided that it's best if I don't follow him on his next trip.”
Oh my, poor Klaus I thought sure that…
“Because he's enrolling me in an art school to study photography properly!!!”
“Oh my gosh Klaus you scared me. I thought my dad fired you or something. I am so happy for you.”
“Why would you think your dad would fire me? I'm the best at what I do.” He gloated, “He is sending me to one of the best art schools in the world because I am a precious talent that shouldn't be wasted.”
“Well I am very happy for you. Which school is…” I tried to ask.
“Tessa I've got to go. I need to prepare. I'll be flying to the school in three days. Bye I love you.”
And before I know it he has ended the call.
Odd.
I grabbed my stuff and decided to go back to my hostel. It was getting late.
I got to my room and saw Aurelia covered in mud. Must be from her sculpting project.
She and I have gotten a bit close and have gotten to a mutual agreement on how we would both like things done.
We made a roaster that rotated the chores. She likes to sleep with the light on but I don't so she got a night light that wasn't too bright to keep me awake at night. We've basically adjusted to each other's presence.
We'vealso given each other pointers on our various acts. She was making a sculpture of the school emblem. Nothing too big or extravagant but somehow eye-catching.
I must say she's quite talented. She even does pottery.
Just a few days to the showcase. Just a few days…
I didn't realize it when I fell asleep. I had to wake up bright and early to pick up my dress. I also need to practice in it so as to prevent any accidents.
The dress was absolutely gorgeous.
I had to wait a bit since it was too early to go to the arts hall to practice.
I had to wait till 10.
By 10:13 I am at the top floor practicing. I did a warm up first before putting on the dress . I must admit it was a bit difficult due to the weight and delicate design of the dress but I adapted and danced and sang my soul out.
I was really satisfied with the results.
I decided to text Klaus.
Three days went by in a blink of an eye and now the showcase is only 2 hours away.
I've been trying to call Klaus to no avail. Even Maya or the others weren't responding to my texts.
I have been texting Klaus a lot these past few days but whenever I ask about his school he just avoids the questions and changes the topic. How strange.
My parents will be arriving soon. Of course my mom and dad wouldn't miss my debut—as my dad calls it. And I made sure I got them front row seat. Though I pulled a few strings with Charlotte and Jay.
The showcase is held in a big hall in the heart of the school. This is where every event that's been done in the school was held.
And I was the Final Act!!!
