Chapter 97 He's leaving?
“I can't believe Klaus is considering leaving with my dad, I mean he's barely home now Klaus too. Arghhh this is so frustrating, I have to talk him out of this.” I said as I was pacing round my room talking to the one person who always understands me.
“I don't see what's so bad about it, you're going back to MSA in a few days anyway you don't expect him to sit and wait for you do you?” Maya said with a mouth full of pie.
“I know but still it isn't fair for both of them to be so far away. What if I need Klaus? What if I'm too scared to perform at my showcase and I really needed him? What if…”
“Girl at this point you're just being selfish. WHAT IF YOU NEED HIM seriously thats what you're worried about. Have you stopped to think about whether he needs YOU!” “He told you how lost and scared he was when it looks like we’re all moving on without him. He finally found something he wants to try out and you want to take that away from him. That’s not fair to him and as your best friend I need to point that out.” Maya said angrily.
Silence, only the sound of the clock could be heard in the background. The words Maya said kept playing in my head. She was right, she was absolutely right. Klaus has always been there for me even in my lowest moments. I can't believe I've been so selfish. The reason he hasn't told my dad yet…is because of me. I have to make this right or I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.
Maya stood up from the bed and started walking towards me “Look, Tessa you know I mean well but…” I turned around and hugged her tightly. “You’re right I've been so selfish to Klaus and I'm really glad that you helped me see that. I wouldn't know what I'll do without you.”
“I’m glad, you know I'm here if you need some brutal honesty.” We laughed as we stopped hugging and just breathed and looked at each other.
“I have to go Maya, I need to make this right.” I said as I opened the window and was about to climb out. With Maya, using the front door is so over rated.
“Not before you've changed your clothes, I might have gotten a bit of blue berry juice and pie all over you.” she said as she ate the last piece of pie.
“Tessa!!! there's someone at the door, answer it.” I heard her tell from somewhere in the kitchen just as I put on another top.
“Ok mum!” I hurried down the stairs. I reached for the door handle just as the door bell rang again.
“Hey!, Klaus um what are you doing here? I was literally about to come see you.”
“Hi Tess, I came to see your dad. I wanted to tell him I wouldn't be able to go with him.” He said as he walked inside the house.
“Is that Klaus Tessa?” my mum yelled from the kitchen.
“Yes mum it is.”
“Good afternoon Mrs Marlowe.” Klaus greeted.
“What do you mean by you're not going? I thought you wanted to go? You were so excited about it.” I closed the door as we both walked to the couch.
“Yh I know but you didn’t seem too happy about it and you have a showcase in less than four weeks and I really want to be there to support you. ” he said with a sigh.
“Look who knows if this is even the right path for me so I thought if it's best if I tell your dad I can't go. ” The reason he doesn't want to go is because of me. I feel so terrible right now.
“Klaus,” I said, taking his hands in mine. “I just realized how selfish I've been with trying to discourage you from doing this. I was scared that you'll be so far away—so far from me and I thought that we might drift apart. But I remembered we made a promise to each other to figure things out together. So if photography is something you want to do then go for it and I can assure you that you have my support every step of the way.”
I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. Klaus looked at me, his eyes glistening with unshed tears, he held my hands even tighter then…then he hugged me.
“I love you Tessa.” he said looking at me. That one line tugged on my heart strings and I was so glad I wasn't selfish. Klaus deserves to find himself and be happy too.
“Well well considering the lovey dovey atmosphere I suppose you guys have good news for me.” My dad said as he approached us from the stairway.
“Yes sir, I do. I've decided to join you on your trips as your photographer.” My dad's face broke out into a huge smile.
“That’s indeed lovely news. Well you'll need to get home and get packed. No need to worry about the camera and such. I already got that covered.” “We leave tomorrow at 6:30 for the evening flight. Don't be late.”
“Yes sir I won't. Thank you for this opportunity. I promise I'll not disappoint you.” Klaus said as he bowed slightly. I've never seen him this serious about anything before.
“I might as well get packed and take the morning flight back to school. That'll give me enough time to prepare for the showcase.”
“Let me quickly grab something from my room then I'll see Klaus off Dad.”
I ran up the stairs quickly to my room. I pushed open the door and lo and behold Maya fell asleep with the pie pan. How hilariously cute. I grabbed a small blue box then rushed back down.
“Let's go Klaus.” I said, grabbing his hands and pulling him out the door.
“So, what was so important that you had to get” he asked as we walked down the streets towards the nearest bus stop.
“This!” I said opening the box. “It's a lucky charm bracelet made by yours truly.” The bracelet was a collection of beads of different shapes and sizes all falling in the range of blue and black. With a little silver heart in the middle that says T+K together forever.
“I also made a similar one for myself except mine are more yellow and pink. This way no matter where you are in the world you'll always remember your lucky charm—me.”
He put it on and swore he would never take it off. Soon we arrived at the bus stop and he boarded the bus but not without kissing me first. Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a flight considering I lost the stress ball jay gave me.
Great!
