Chapter 8 The Dream
THE FIFTH ELEMENT 🌊🔥🌪️⛰️☯️
~Cassie's POV ~
“I don’t know what it is. I don’t know about any power or magic. I didn’t even know people like you guys existed until, like, two days ago. Sorry,” I said to them and shrugged.
“Wow. Really? You really didn’t know anything about us or who you were until a few days ago?” Monique finally said something.
“Honestly, I still don’t know who I am. I’m just a normal girl in this strange new world where people do these impossible things. I don’t know if I can find my way around here,” I said to Monique, and she gave me a pity smile.
“It’s a good thing you have us now to help you find your way around,” Monique said to me.
“Thank you. Really,” I told her, and she nodded.
“Ugh. Gosh, Monique, you’re really good at making people depressed, you know that? Why don’t you let us do the talking? How about that,” Stacy said to Monique.
“Whatever, talkative Stacy. Don’t you ever get tired of talking?” Monique asked her.
“No. Of course not. I’m the life of the party. Which means without me, you guys would bore yourselves to death. You all should be thankful to have me,” Stacy said while making a face.
“Okay. Enough talking for today. Cassie? It’s time we head back to our dorm. You have to get some rest for tomorrow,” Madeline said to me.
“Yeah, okay. What about your mom? I still need to talk to her,” I said to Madeline.
“I know. But that’ll be tomorrow after we’ve had our classes. I’m sure she’ll tell you everything you want to know by then. But for now, we should get back to the dorm,” Madeline told me.
“Okay. Fine,” I said and stood up from the chair.
“Aw, I’m going to miss you,” Stacy said to me.
“Don’t be dramatic, Stacy. You’ve only known her for, like, an hour or two. Besides, you’ll be seeing her first thing tomorrow, won’t you?” Madeline said to Stacy.
“Jealous much? You think Cassie will like me more than you?” Stacy shot back at Madeline.
“Huh. You need therapy, girl. Let’s go, Cassie. See you all later, clowns. Except for you, Monique. I love you,” Madeline said to them all before heading for the exit door.
I waved a little goodbye to them and then ran to catch up with Madeline. She was a fast walker.

When Madeline and I got back to our dorm, we went straight to our separate beds to rest.
“Your friends seem fun. Especially Stacy,” I said to Madeline while lying flat on my bed.
“Yeah. They can be crazy sometimes. And yes, most especially Stacy,” Madeline said and chuckled.
There was silence for some minutes until I decided to break it.
“Do you think I’ll be okay here?” I asked Madeline.
“Yeah. I think you will. All you have to do is accept the fact that you will be okay. And that’s all on you now,” Madeline said to me.
“Thanks. For today, for trying to make me comfortable,” I said and turned toward her.
She faced me as well. “You’re welcome. I’m glad you’re here. Anyways, have a good night’s rest,” she said to me before turning her back on me.
A few moments later, I heard her little snoring and chuckled.
‘This place might not be that bad after all,’ I thought to myself.
⛰️🌊
I was in a tunnel, running for my life. It seemed like someone was chasing me. I ran and ran till I got to the end of the tunnel. There was no way out, and I was trapped.
The person chasing me finally caught up to me. I couldn’t see the person’s face. He or she was in a long hooded robe.
“Who are you?” I asked the figure.
I saw their shoulders moving up and down as he or she laughed at me.
“What do you want from me?” I asked again, but that only made them laugh harder.
“Stop laughing!!” I yelled at the figure, and he or she stopped abruptly.
“Now tell me who you are,” I said to the figure.
“You shouldn’t have come here,” the figure finally spoke to me.
Suddenly I felt my blood stiffen in my body. I couldn’t move at will anymore.
“What are you doing to me?” I muffled out.
“You belong to me now. And I will use you as my pawn,” the figure said and started laughing out loud.
I knelt down unwillingly as if I was being puppeteered.
“No, no, no! Stop, no!!” I was saying it over and over again.
The next minute, I felt someone shaking me.
I gasped as I almost jumped out of my bed.
“Cassie! Are you okay? You were yelling and crying while sleeping. I had to wake you up,” Madeline said to me, her face filled with worry.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to disturb you. I just… I had a really bad dream,” I said, still trying to understand what that dream was all about.
“It’s okay. What was it about?” Madeline asked me with innocent eyes.
“It was about…” I looked at her for a few seconds. “I can’t remember,” I lied to her.
It’s best I kept it to myself. I didn’t see the face of the person who attacked me in my dream. I don’t want to take any chances.
Maybe it was a warning that I shouldn’t trust anyone here just yet, no matter how nice they seem.
