Chapter 1701 Meeting

Chapter 1701 Meeting

Isaac was heartbroken and seemed to have lost all hope.

He turned around and looked through the glass window at the person lying in bed, living on a ventilator.

Was this really the time he had to say goodbye to Elmer?

They had brushed past death so many times before and pulled through.

But this time, there was no way forward.

Rachel also looked through the glass window.

Tears blurred her vision.

She reached out and touched her belly, which wasn't showing yet.

She remembered that he had never promised her a future.

They had both lived for the moment.

Because Elmer had said he had no future.

He would completely fail to wake up one morning.

Tears kept streaming down Rachel's cheeks. She wiped her eyes, turned around, and looked at Isaac, whose hair had turned white overnight.

Rachel clenched her fists. "Dad, I need to go out for a bit. You stay here and keep him company."

Isaac nodded.

During this brief time with Elmer, Isaac didn't dare pass out or fall asleep.

He was afraid that the moment he opened his eyes, Elmer would be gone.

He had failed Elmer's mother.

He couldn't protect their only son.

Rachel walked out of the hospital, took out her phone, and dialed Jamie's number.

"Jamie, I want to see you."

She knew what she was about to face, and she was clear about what she was doing.

But she had no choice.

If she avoided this out of fear of those old feelings and lost the only chance to save Elmer—

Rachel would regret it for the rest of her life.

It was time for her and Jamie to meet.

All those feelings from years ago came flooding back. The man she had loved with all her heart for ten years of her youth was also the only man she hated.

Rachel couldn't let go.

The more she avoided it, the less she could let go.

She really wanted to ask Jamie why he had hung up on her back then.

Why he had missed the perfect chance to save her.

If she hadn't ended up on Redwood Isle by chance, if she hadn't met Elmer, Rachel would have been trafficked to who knows where, living a filthy, degrading life, not knowing if she'd survive.

Maybe that Rachel would have ended her short life rather than endure such humiliation.

Why was the love she had given for ten years trampled on like this!

Why did this man treat her like trash, like she was nothing!

Why was everything she had given worth less to Jamie than a casual joke from Andrea!

Even now, Jamie wasn't the same Jamie from back then.

But Rachel wasn't the same Rachel who had loved him so passionately either.

Time couldn't go back, and the years couldn't be undone.

The Wind & Grace Tea House.

A coffee shop in the city center.

Peaceful despite the busy surroundings, the first feeling upon entering was the coolness on a summer day. The air was filled with a faint coffee aroma, with soft piano music flowing through the space. The first floor sold coffee beans, the second floor was for guests to enjoy coffee, and the third floor had VIP private rooms.

This was a coffee shop under Jamie's name, located in this expensive part of town.

Andrea had once told her that this coffee shop was Jamie's birthday gift to her.

Rachel had envied that for a long time.

Jamie knew how to be romantic, but he saved all his romance for Andrea.

He gave her nothing but coldness.

The server saw her. "You must be Ms. Howard."

Rachel nodded.

The server said, "Please follow me. Mr. Lawson is waiting for you in a private room on the third floor."

On the third floor, there was a room called Serenity Suite.

The third floor had twelve private rooms in total, all for VIP customers, but they needed to be reserved in advance.

And this Serenity Suite belonged exclusively to Jamie.
