4. One Night Kindness

4: One Night Kindness

ANGELO

"No." I responded, under no circumstances would I accept such a thing.

I couldn't even believe that they were presenting me with this situation where I would once again work with Celeste to catch someone.

"But it wasn't a suggestion Agent Smith," Director Green chuckled, as if he could actually joke with something like that.

The more he wanted her away, the closer she was.

"Sir," I placed two fingers on the bridge of my nose, "can you choose anyone else? Why does it have to be me?"

"Because you are our most specialized agent," said Director Green, "you will go with Agent Smith Junior, both promise in this mission, it is just to guard and get involved where we will send them, be prepared to catch her."

If I could get out of this situation, of course I would.

Fuck.

The fact that the companion went with my brother did not raise my spirits, my brother was very new and incompetent for this mission.

“Damn,” I said through clenched teeth, getting up from my seat.

"What do you care about?" replied Mr. Green.

If he knew everything that worried me, from the point that I had been put on this mission with this woman that I was trying to get away from and that we actually had a child together...

"My wife," I blurted out, "she's still in treatment."

Mr. Green seemed to take pity on me a little, but this was work and he knew he wasn't going to reconsider sending me around.

"Then let the nanny take care of her as always," said Director Green, "this won't last more than a month."

I pursed my lips, it wasn't worth arguing with him, not when he wasn't going to change his mind.

I left the office like hell towards my car, I looked around the waiting room to see if I saw Freddy, but to my surprise it wasn't him who I found.

Celeste.

She was sitting in the waiting room, when she raised her light blue eyes towards me, a mess came to my stomach when I remembered her and commemorated everything we experienced together, when I saw her again, when I knew that she was here and that she was real.

I was tempted to ignore her, but she had a miserable face that even I couldn't ignore.

"Are you okey?" I asked.

"No," she said, crossing her arms, making the neckline of her dress more evident and I had to force myself to look away from there when I saw how much her breasts had grown, "apparently the room they want to give me here smells like I peed and I'm not going to stay there, I can't go to a hotel either, I don't have money, I feel like I've walked into a nightmare, they literally kidnapped me."

I pursed my lips, sometimes the methods here to protect people were the worst.

"A hotel is not safe," I simply said, especially with a murderer loose anywhere on his trail.

"Yeah, anyway," she said, "I guess I'll sleep on this bench until we leave on the mission tomorrow."

We heard footsteps and my brother; Freddy Smith appeared in a complete hurry.

"I thought you left me like last time, man," Freddy said, running a hand over his forehead.

I was tempted; if I hadn't met Celeste.

"Come with us," I told Celeste, "it may just be one night, tomorrow we leave."

She seemed to hesitate for half a second, but then seemed to realize that it was a better deal than staying here, she took the things from her and I started walking, she followed us.

She knew it had been the worst idea ever; invite her to my house, but, although I wanted to have her away from her, I still felt that she needed answers, one that only she could give me.

We went to the car.
