Chapter 45: The Edge of Restraint
Chapter 45: The Edge of Restraint
“But…” I started to protest, my body frozen by his command.
“Be silent, Sylvara,” he said, his voice dropping, heavy with an unspoken weight.
My lips parted, ready to argue, but the words caught in my throat. A strange sensation bloomed beneath me. Something moved. A pressure, warm and firm, pressed against my ass. I shifted again, involuntarily, a small, inquisitive motion. Was he hiding something there? What could it be?
He sat up, a sudden, powerful movement, and buried his face in my chest. The fine fabric of my nightgown, thin as gossamer, offered little resistance. His breath, warm and moist, seeped through the cloth, raising gooseflesh on my skin.
“You smell like different fruit all combined,” he rumbled, his voice muffled against my breast.
The thing poking my ass stiffened, hardened. A strange, insistent pressure. My body reacted without thought, a small, involuntary twitch.
“I said stay still,” Orion’s voice was a low growl, his head still nestled in my chest. “Stop being stubborn or you will regret it.”
A wave of heat washed over me, a flush starting in my core and spreading outwards. My skin tingled, a foreign sensation. My body felt like it was melting, dissolving into the floor. Why am I feeling this way? Am I sick? I wondered, my hands rising, finding their way around his neck, my fingers tangling in the thick black strands of his hair.
He licked my neck, a slow, deliberate swipe of his tongue. A shiver, electric and unexpected, raced down my spine.
“Hey, what are you doing?” I gasped, a small, surprised sound. I tried to pull his head away, to see his face, to understand the intent behind this sudden intimacy, but he held firm. The thin fabric of my nightgown, meant for sleep, now felt like a second skin, clinging to every curve, revealing every sensation. The thing beneath me, pressing against my ass, felt disturbingly intimate, as if I were naked.
The uncomfortable feeling intensified, a persistent throb. I let go of his neck, my focus shifting to the strange object. I reached down, my hand brushing against the fabric of his trousers, searching for the source of the pressure. My fingers closed around something soft yet firm, a peculiar shape. It felt… organic, like a human hand, but not quite.
What is he carrying in here? The thought flashed through my mind, a frantic question.
“Syl… Sylvara,” Orion’s voice was strained, a low rasp, as if he struggled to speak.
But I wasn't listening. My fingers worked at the fabric, trying to dislodge the mysterious object, to pull it free. I tugged, a determined effort to remove whatever was causing this unsettling sensation.
“Eh… Sylvara, stop,” Orion said again, his voice a little louder, a hint of desperation in its tone.
“What is this… I’m trying to remove…” The words died on my tongue as he moved, a sudden, swift motion. He was above me, pinning me down, his weight heavy and solid. My back pressed against the floor, his body a warm, powerful cage. His metallic gray eyes, usually unreadable, now held a burning intensity.
“I told you to stop,” he said, his voice low and dangerous, his breath warm on my face. “Or do you want to be pregnant with my child now…?”
My gaze, despite his words, dropped to his pants, still fixated on the strange bulge. Was I even listening to him? My mind raced, trying to comprehend the situation, the meaning behind his words.
“If you want to see it that much…” he continued, his voice a low, seductive rumble, his eyes never leaving mine. “I’ll grant you that wish. You just have to say so.” He reached for the hem of his dark t-shirt, his movements deliberate, unhurried. The fabric stretched, then began to rise, revealing the faint bronze undertone of his skin, the powerful muscles of his torso. The scent of rain, steel, and cedarwood intensified, filling my senses, intoxicating me. The soft golden shimmer on my own skin felt like a beacon under his intense gaze.
My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat. The world narrowed to his eyes, his words, the rising fabric. The jasmine scent, the pale green walls, even the moonlight, faded into a blur. Only Orion remained, a dark, commanding presence, his every move a promise, a threat, a question. The air around us thickened, humming with an unseen power, a tension that was both terrifying and utterly captivating. His fingers worked at the buttons of his shirt, slowly, deliberately, each movement a small unraveling of the mystery, a slow, agonizing reveal. My breath hitched in my throat, my violet eyes wide, fixed on him, waiting.
