Chapter 75 Chapter 75
Chapter 75 Chapter 75
The world inside Aeloria’s mind held no horizon.
Golden light stretched endlessly to her left—warm, pulsing, alive.
To her right, a silver tempest churned like a storm made of sharpened glass and fractured echoes.
The ground beneath her feet was neither gold nor silver—but a thin, trembling seam between the two. A fault line. A boundary.
A battlefield.
Aeloria faced her mirrored reflection as it stepped forward from the silver storm, movements fluid, calm, terrifyingly self-assured.
Her shadow-self.
Same face. Same posture. Same eyes.
Except—
The shadow’s silver eye glowed brighter.
Her smile was sharper.
Her presence heavier.
“Look at this place,” the shadow murmured, spreading her arms. “Your soul. Half potential… half fear.”
Aeloria forced herself to stand tall.
“This isn’t your soul,” she said. “It’s mine.”
The shadow tilted her head.
“Then why do I fit here better than you do?”
Aeloria’s breath hitched.
The shadow smirked.
“Because I am what you were always meant to become.”
Aeloria stepped forward onto the trembling seam.
“And I’m what I choose to be.”
The shadow’s silver iris flared like a blade catching light.
“So let’s choose properly.”
With a single snap of her fingers, the world convulsed.
The silver storm surged, crashing against the golden sky like two realms colliding. The ground quaked, splitting farther under Aeloria’s feet. She stumbled but steadied herself.
Above her, in the distant, distant background—like an echo through dimensions—she heard faint whispers.
Kael’s voice.
“Aeloria—stay with me. I’ve got you.”
Her chest tightened.
The shadow rolled her eyes.
“Him again. Always him.”
Aeloria clenched her fists. “You don’t get to talk about him.”
“Why not?” the shadow asked. “You tether yourself to him. But anchors… sink.”
She leaned forward, voice a velvet blade.
“He will be the reason you break.”
Aeloria’s fury ignited, golden light spiraling around her fists.
“Kael is the reason I don’t break.”
The shadow’s smile faded.
“Then we end this.”
Silver lightning slashed outward from her fingertips.
Aeloria barely dodged before pushing off the trembling seam, soaring upward as golden wings flickered along her back—raw, unstable manifestations of will.
The shadow mirrored her instantly—silver wings unfolding in perfect reflection.
Two Aelorias collided midair.
A shockwave of gold and silver tore across the mindscape, ripping open fissures in reality. The storms twisted violently, echoing their struggle.
Aeloria’s fist connected with the shadow’s jaw—bright flash.
The shadow spun backward, laughing breathlessly.
“Good. Finally fighting like you mean it.”
She retaliated—silver tendrils snaking around Aeloria’s wrists, yanking her downward. Aeloria slammed into the ground, the impact cracking open the seam beneath her.
Pain flared bright.
Aeloria gasped.
The crack widened.
A deep void yawned beneath her—a space of nothingness, oblivion inside her own soul.
The shadow descended slowly from the air, hovering above the crack like a queen surveying a battlefield.
“If you fall,” she said softly, “I take everything.”
Aeloria forced herself up on trembling elbows.
“And if I take you down…”
She spat blood—golden, shimmering.
“Then I become whole.”
The shadow touched down in front of her, kneeling gracefully.
“You can’t win by force,” she whispered, brushing Aeloria’s cheek with chilling familiarity. “You and I—we are equal in strength.”
Aeloria slapped her hand away, breathing hard.
“Then what do you want?”
The shadow smiled.
“Control.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No!”
“Yes,” the shadow said with unnerving calm, “because you fear it. And everything you fear, I grow from.”
Aeloria froze.
The shadow leaned closer, eyes glowing.
“You fear losing Kael.”
“You fear failing the worlds.”
“You fear the Ancient reclaiming you.”
“You fear the mark inside you.”
“You fear what you could become.”
“And most of all…”
She cupped Aeloria’s chin gently.
“You fear me.”
Aeloria’s breath shook.
The shadow continued softly:
“That fear feeds me. Strengthens me. Every heartbeat… every breath… I become more real.”
Aeloria’s hand trembled.
No wonder she had grown so quickly.
Aeloria had been terrified.
The shadow stood, silver energy swirling elegantly around her.
“You cannot destroy me. I am built from your deepest truths. The pain you buried. The power you denied.”
She extended a hand.
“But you can join me. Together, we would never break.”
Aeloria stared at the silver palm.
Temptation whispered.
Power hummed.
The golden sky dimmed.
She thought of Kael.
Of the Sentinel.
Of the worlds relying on her.
Of the girl she used to be.
Of the woman she wanted to be.
Then—
She took a slow breath.
“No.”
The shadow’s smile faltered.
“Careful—”
Aeloria rose to her full height, golden light burning bright behind her.
“I’m not afraid of you,” she whispered. “I’m afraid of becoming you.”
The shadow’s expression darkened.
But Aeloria wasn’t done.
“I won’t destroy you.”
She stepped forward confidently.
“And I won’t join you.”
The shadow stumbled back.
“What are you—?”
Aeloria reached out—
—and pulled her other self into an embrace.
The shadow gasped, stiffening in shock.
Aeloria whispered into her ear:
“I’m going to integrate you.”
Silver eyes widened in horror.
“No—no, you can’t—”
“Yes,” Aeloria breathed, golden light engulfing them both, “because you are me. And I am you. And together—”
The world detonated in blinding gold-silver fusion.
“—we are whole.”
The mindscape shattered.
The seam closed.
The storm and sky folded into one.
And Aeloria—
became singular.
Unified.
Complete.
