Chapter 104 - The Dragon Prince and His Mate

Dexter

"Dam it!" I cursed out loud slamming my hand on my desk.

"Dexter calm down," Dad says as he comes in the door.

"Calm down! How the hell am I to calm down? It's been a month dad a freaking month and we still can't find them!"

After Max had disappeared we discovered mom and lily were gone as well.

"I know son I know,"

"I just don't understand how they just vanished, we looked everywhere even the cabin where you guys stayed with Max before but nothing,"

"Well, when your mother doesn't want to be found she is good at hiding from me,"

He sits down looking over the map on my desk he was just as tired as I was neither one of us has slept since they left.

"Hey, you guys have any news?" Hank walked in and come straight next to my dad.

"No," I growl out.

He and Jon have been following up on every lead we had come across.

I never left to go help Hank when Brenda's grandfather got her and we told him how the three of them when missing he told us to stay and find them he would handle the situation with Brenda.

I called Hank back when I told him his niece was missing he kinda went nuts he lunged at me getting a few hits on Jon and Dad got him under control I couldn't blame him for being mad at me.

"I don't know where else to look,"

I told them. I sit down placing my head in my hands.

"Hey!" I hear Jon's voice I look up he's walking fast as he comes in he got that look on his face.

"I got something," he says as he stops next to hank.

"What," I stand up

"You remember that girl Tara that was with Max when we found them,"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, we had looked everywhere else why not check in with her, I k ow it's been a while since she last spoke to Max but may as well cover all bases,"

"Jon get to it," I grit through my teeth.

"Okay okay, calm down, I called her parent's place we still have their information on file, When I asked to speak with her They told me Tara wasn't there and that she had left to spend some time with a friend,"

"What! did they say where she went!"

He smiled a little.

"Yes, they did,"

He said but stood there smirking like an idiot

"Jon!" My father growled at him.

"Okay jeez,"

He leaned forward looked at the map then placed his finger down on the spot I looked where he pointed and then glanced up at my father. I saw his jaw tighten he's eyes held fire.

"Looks like we are taking a road trip,"

He growled out.

Maxine

"Max!" I hear someone call my name stopping I turned to see lily and Tara coming towards me.

I was glad to see Tara again I was thankful for Laura reaching out to her. A week after we arrived here at Laura's old flock everyone here was super nice and welcoming. They even help explain to Tara about us.

At first, she was a little shocked but she has come around. She and lily have been helpful especially when I have my days when I miss Dexter a lot.

I sat down on the bench and found I enjoy walking through the garden here I like coming out here and thinking just to have some time to myself.

They sit next to me.

"Are you okay," Lily asked me.

"Yes just thought I'd get some fresh air,"

"You thinking of him again weren't you?"

Tara said she could read me like a book.

"I miss him," I say as I rub my belly.

I was so huge I pretty much waddled when I walk the doctor here says I could go into labor any time I was at my six-month mark they said dragons don't go much past that.

"He lied to you," Tara pipes up she was very mad when she heard why I was here even though it's been a while since we have spoken he was still just as caring as before.

"Yes I know but maybe I overreacted,"

"Oh no, you didn't, he hurt you Max he could have told you the truth but he hide it from you,"

"I know but, Maybe I should have just heard him out and not acted the way I did,"

"Max even the Queen left with you, why because she is just as mad at her mate as you are at Dexter so I don't think you acted in the wrong," Tara said as she grabbed my hand.

"Yes, but I didn't think past leaving am I to stay away from him forever is Laura gonna leave her mate, what am I to do now?"

"I think you need time, time to think it all out when you are ready then you can face him,"

Letting out a sigh I held my hand on my belly, letting my thoughts drift to Dexter what was he doing, was he looking for me, did he go find Brenda,

"Max dear," I hear Laura's voice in my head.

"Yes, Laura,"

"Dear lunch is ready why don't you come to eat then we will need to head for your appointment,"

"Alright, I'm coming,"

"Hey lunch is ready let's go," I tell the girls

We stand and walk back to the house we find Laura in the kitchen she was talking to her brother.

"Hey girls go on in they have lunch set up already," Her brother tells us.

We walk to the other room seeing lunch was placed out it was buffet style. we grab plates fill them make our way over to sit down. Laura and her brother walk back in to get food themself I see Laura's face she seemed to have worry look they sit down across from us.

"You girls enjoy your walk?" He asked looking at us.

I feel lily tense up when he spoke to us.

"Yes we did," I tell him.

"That's good,"

We all started to eat not saying anything else when we hear a big commotion outside. Laura's brother jumps up running out of the room we can hear yelling it sounded like fighting.

I stand Laura does the same coming to stand next to me. People started to leave the room in a panic I just stayed in place Laura help a protective arm around while lily and Tara stood behind us. When the room was almost empty we began to make our way out just as we reached the doorway a group of men walked in causing us to stop dead in our tracks.

I stood there staring at the man in front of me.
