Chapter 67 On the edge
Fear of the individual she suspected was in their compound.
“...Come on, go get your sisters and head up to your room! Don't come down until I tell you to!”, Mrs Morales said as she went towards the living room where her other daughters were.
“Mama, what's wrong?!”, The youngest daughter asked, wondering why her mother wanted them all to go up to their rooms suddenly.
“I'll explain later amore, okay?
Girls!
Girls!!
Up to your rooms now?!”, Mrs Morales ordered as she entered the living room briskly, her apron on and the girls having no idea what was going on.
“No questions! I said up!
You close and lock the door behind you!”, she said again, her voice loud enough to attract her husband who smiled at his monitor.
Sensing the ruckus going on in his living room, Mr Morales quickly stood up and went out of his office.
“Amore! Why the noise this beautiful…!”, Mr Morales drawled as he saw his daughters go up the stairs.
“Look towards the window!”, Mrs Morales said as she turned off the television.
She watched her husband's eyes open in fear as well as she arranged the living room.
“Why are they here?!”, Mrs Morales asked her husband in hushed tones, slightly looking towards the stairs to make sure none of her daughters weren't listening.
They might have told the girls about the situation, but the sudden visit was rather unusual.
“I I I have no idea. What, what…!”, Mr Morales stammered as they suddenly heard violent knocking on their door.
“But I thought you paid them?!”, Mrs Morales asked, fear written all over her face.
They suddenly heard lots of men roaming their house, looking everywhere, as if in search of something.
“Mr Morales!”, They heard Andreas call from the locked front door.
Their eyes opened even wider as they wondered what they had done again to incur Luciano's wrath.
“I'm, I'm coming. One second!”, Mr Morales said as he quickly did his shirt buttons properly.
Mrs Morales remained in her position as she watched her husband open the door.
Andreas walked in, along with some men, the Don following behind them at the back.
Mrs Morales had no control over the men that quickly spread out in her house.
Up the stairs and to her daughters bedrooms, the kitchen, her husband's home office and every other room in the house.
Remembering she had daughters up the stairs, she quickly rushed towards them, her motherly instincts kicking in.
“Don! Welcome! Welcome! I never expected you would grace our house with your presence!”, Mr Morales said, looking towards where his wife stood.
He was rather surprised and slightly scared that she was no longer there.
“Where is she?!”, Luciano asked as he thought Mr Morales was hiding his daughter.
“What do you mean sir?! Where's who!?”, Mr Morales questioned back as he didn't have the slightest idea what was going on.
Luciano simply waved his hands as Andreas came forward to explain the situation.
“Your daughter snuck out of the mansion yesterday and has not come back. It would be better to release your daughter now before things get out of hand!”
Mr Morales looked between Andreas and Luciano, his brain taking a while to comprehend what he had just said.
Isabella was missing, he thought as the tension in the room lingered.
“We had an agreement Don…!”, Mr Morales started as he tried to defend himself.
“Yes, and we had one once and you broke it as well. Where is Isabella?!”, Luciano questioned as his gaze shifted to the men looking for her in the background.
“The agreement was that she was going to be with you Don! We haven't set our eyes on Isabella for the past few months that you have taken her!”, Mr Morales answered honestly.
His mind was starting to wonder what happened that Isabella had run away.
However, he didn't know how to ask the question because of the fear of the ruthless Don.
“So if she's not here, where could she be?!”, Luciano asked, his green eyes looking towards Mr Morales, trying to see if the man was lying to him.
“I, I honestly don't know Don!”, Mr Morales stammered as he tried to look at where his daughter would have gone.
He was too afraid to ask what The Don had been putting her through.
“Any relatives in other parts of Italy that she might have gone to?!”, Andreas asked as he realized Isabella wasn't there.
“No, no! All of us live in Tuscany! Right here!”, Mr Morales replied looking conflicted.
His mind was starting to be filled with errant thoughts.
Luciano saw the men coming back empty handed, the feeling of emptiness returning to him once again.
He had been hopeful that he would see her taking refuge in her parent's house.
He wasn't even going to be mad at her, she just needed to return to him and all would be fine.
“Very well then!”, Luciano said as he gently stood up and left the house.
Albeit glad that The Don was leaving his house, Mr Morales wondered again what had been going on with Isabella and why she decided to leave.
The lady in question had just checked into the hotel which seemed much better than the motel she stayed at on her way there.
She reveled at how peaceful the area was and how it would be nice for her to return back here till she got a space for herself.
She had been assured by Antonio that the people of Umbria wouldn't be hostile to her as she was new in their space.
Isabella had held on to that as she dwelled on adopting a whole new personality still.
Caring about Luciano or her family was the last thing on her mind at that specific moment.
She was simply living life for herself.
Luciano was about to get into the car when a familiar figure grabbed his attention.
He suddenly felt nostalgic and very angry upon seeing the black hair coming out of the familiar hatch.
He lied to me, Luciano thought as he turned and grabbed Mr Morales by the neck.
“Who the fuck is that if you haven't been hiding Isabella?!”, Luciano bellowed as he continued to strangle Mr Morales.
