Chapter 58 Post Accident
Luciano woke up to a banging headache and an aching midsection as a result of the injury he sustained from the accident.
Still processing the dim lights and the antiseptic smell, Luciano looked towards the window to affirm it was evening time.
How long have I been out for, Luciano thought as he looked at the tubes attached to his body.
He looked around the room gently, unsurprised to see Andreas, sitting on the couch.
Attempting to stand up immediately, Luciano grabbed the attention of his half alert personal assistant.
“Shit!”, Luciano cursed out loud in a hoarse voice from the result of the throbbing pain in his midsection.
“Don!”, Andreas called out as he heard shuffling from the bed.
“I need water!”, Luciano abruptly said as Andreas called out to him.
Slightly chuckling, Andreas flew from the couch to the water dispenser to get The Don water.
“Here you go!”, Andreas said as he passed the water to Luciano.
“Rate the pain you're feeling on a scale of one through ten!”, Andreas said as he watched Luciano take the last few gulps from the disposable cup.
“Twelve!”, Luciano replied, his voice still hoarse despite the water he drank.
“Do you want me to get the doctor!?”, Andreas asked as he watched Luciano slightly shake his head.
“No, I just want pain killers later!”, Luciano said.
Conflicted whether or not to get into details of the accident, Andreas got his answer from the next few words from Luciano.
“The brakes were cut!”
“Yes, and the car blew up after!”, Andreas replied.
“Do you think it was a mechanical problem?!”, Andreas questioned.
“No, the cars are regularly maintained, that means someone did it!”, Luciano said slowly.
“Giovanni’s team is already on it!”, Andreas replied. Luciano simply acknowledged the men’s work with a nod.
“I'm hungry!”, Luciano said.
“Want me to go get you something?!”, Andreas asked, messing with Luciano as he knew The Don didn't like hospital food.
“Nahh, I want something Madam Paula made!”, Luciano replied plainly, unable to process the subtle joke in Andreas' sentence.
“I'm messing with you! She came by earlier with some soup! But, I don't know if you can start eating heavy…!”, Andreas said as Luciano interrupted.
“Why!?”
“They don't want anything stressing your head. Don't you have like a headache…!”, Andreas couldn't complete his sentence as they heard a knock on the door.
Approaching the door with his hand on his gun holster, Andreas let his guard down as he confirmed it was Doctor Luca.
He let the professional take care of Luciano as he stepped out.
The Mansion seemed rather peaceful to Isabella as Luciano was nowhere in the picture.
She didn't have to worry about Luciano ordering her around.
She literally could just do her job in peace. All she gathered was The Don was still in the hospital as he had been in an accident earlier.
Why doesn't he stay there and never come back to the mansion again?, Isabella thought to herself as she cleared the kitchen alongside Mia.
“Today was rather stressful!”, Mia said as she had been the one to go with Madam Paula to the hospital.
“Yes it is!”, Madam Paula agreed, approaching the pantry.
“I hope The Don is okay!”, Mia said as she looked towards Isabella who seemed the least bit bothered.
Her silence was rather unusual, thus, Mia pressed.
“Did something happen while we were at the hospital?!”
“No nothing really, I just have a stomach ache!”, Isabella said, trying her best not to look suspicious.
“Okay then, have you taken anything?!”, Mia asked.
“Ahhh Mia!”, Madam Paula sneered as she came out of the pantry with an empty basket.
“Yes ma'am! Why didn't you tell me we barely had anything in the pantry?!”, she continued, dropping the empty basket on the kitchen island.
“Nothing ma'am! It was just that everything going on didn't give me the chance to talk yet!”, Mia defended.
“Alright then! We have to go get groceries regardless. How else would we cook?!”, Madam Paula said, unaware of how happy her sentence made Isabella.
Beautiful, the lady in question thought as she deemed it fit to execute the rest of her plan.
“We'll go around high noon tomorrow! We can still cook breakfast!”, Madam Paula said before she bid the ladies a goodnight.
It really had been a rough day.
Isabella followed after, telling Mia she needed to rest, when really she was about packing the rest of her things.
Isabella was going to leave no matter what, an opportunity that presented itself was not something she was going to waste.
Mia, who didn't feel like going to sleep yet, simply watched her show.
Andreas entered the mansion, going straight to the kitchen to get a glass of water before grabbing some items for Luciano.
Opening the fridge, the tiredness was starting to get to him as he opted for a fruit juice.
Hearing footsteps, he placed his hand on his gun holster, wondering if said person was a threat.
“Oh hi!”, Mia said as she noticed it was Andreas.
“Hi!”, Andreas said, letting his guard down as he saw that it was Mia.
“I wondered who it was!”, Mia said as she knew Madam Paula and Isabella had already gone to sleep.
“Oh it was just me!”, Andreas said, chugging the orange juice. It was Mia, thus, he wanted to stay a while in the kitchen.
He wanted to hear from her.
“Are you in a rush?!”, Mia asked ever so gently as she approached him.
“Not in particular!”, Andreas said, aware that The Don was fast asleep in the hospital.
“Ohh okay. Are you okay?!”, Mia asked.
“I'll be fine!”, Andreas said, having no idea how to form coherent sentences.
This gave Mia the wrong idea however as she thought he didn't want to speak with her.
“You're not too tired right!”, Mia asked again, wanting to have a conversation.
“No!”, Andreas replied.
She lost interest in the conversation seeing that Andreas didn't look like he wanted to talk to her.
He's probably tired, Mia thought.
