Chapter 55 Her Foolproof plan
“Hello!”, Madam Paula said upon picking the call.
“Good morning Madam Paula…!”, Andreas started off politely as Madam Paula was treated with respect in the mansion.
“Good morning, is there any problem?!”, Madam Paula asked as Andreas wouldn't call her if there was nothing wrong.
“I can't say for sure. Is The Don still in the mansion?!”, Andreas asked, wondering if the ladies caused the background noise he had heard.
“I’m not so sure. I just got ready! Today's Sunday. Remember?!”, Madam Paula reminded as Sunday was usually a day off from the employees in the mansion.
“Oh, that is very true! But, There was an emergency in the office that needed The Don’s attention. He should have left by now!”, Andreas speculated, looking towards the wall clock closest to him.
“Oh!”, Madam Paula said in realization.
“Why don't you try calling him?!”, Madam Paula suggested.
“He actually called me, but there seemed to be background noise. I wondered if it was from the mansion!”, Andreas replied.
“I don't think he's still here!”, Madam Paula said, looking out her window to see a car had been driven out of the mansion.
“How about you send some men out, just to see if his car broke down or something!”, Andreas said, looking back at the wall clock.
“Ohhh okay! I'll do that now!”, Madam Paula said as she cut the call.
She quickly went out of her room, approaching the kitchen where she heard activity.
“Ladies!”, Madam Paula called out.
“Yes ma'am!”, Mia and Isabella answered in unison.
“Do you know if The Don has left the mansion?!”, Madam Paula asked.
Hearing the mention of The Don left a sore feeling in Isabella's heart.
However, having decided to keep the incident to herself, she simply answered Madam Paula.
“Yes ma'am!”, The ladies said in unison having heard the main door shut close alongside sniffing Luciano’s perfume.
Getting the answer she suspected, Madam Paula went out the front door to do as Andreas had requested.
In no time, two heavily armed groups of four men drove out of the mansion having had a lock on Luciano's location.
The ammunition was simply a preparation, just in case Luciano was in danger as he appeared to be in a single position from what the tracker showed.
One thing that had proved to be beneficial a good number of times was Luciano's decision to put a tracker on the most random things.
It came handy in this situation however because there was one on the car and on his phone.
Luciano never went anywhere without an item that had a tracker.
Andreas paced his office space as he wondered what was going on.
It had been thirty minutes more than the time it would normally take to get to the office from the mansion. Thus, he was starting to get worried.
His phone suddenly rang, breaking him out of his chain of thoughts.
The caller Id displayed the name of one of Luciano's men. Andreas was sure Madam Paula already sent out a search party.
“Sir Andreas!”, Giovanni called out as the call was picked up.
“What's the situation? Did you find him?!”, Andreas asked.
“Yes sir, we were able to track his phone and get his location!”, Giovanni replied, the background noise still present.
“What's going on?!”, Andreas inquired.
“The boss was involved in a car accident sir…!”, Giovanni started.
“What?!”, Andreas asked in disbelief as he grabbed his jacket and headed out of the office.
“He was involved in a car accident sir! Some of the guys have taken him to a hospital…!”, Giovanni continued.
“How about the driver, Alessandro!?”, Andreas asked as he was aware that the same driver had driven him around that same morning.
“Oh, he died on the spot sir! The windshield broke and went through his skull!”, Giovanni answered.
“Shit!”, Andreas cursed.
“The boss had been taken to the private hospital sir! We're trying to tow the car and find out what happened!”, Giovanni replied.
“Okay! You do that! I'll go ahead and check up on the boss now!”, Andreas said, cutting the call.
He breathed out a sigh as he closed the car door behind him.
Alessandro's death was rather unexpected.
“I heard you sent for me!”, Mrs Morales said as she closed the door behind her.
She had been cooking lunch when one of her daughters entered the kitchen and reported that her husband wanted to have a word.
“Yes, yes, Come on, have a seat!”, Mr Morales answered, a big smile on his face.
“Seems like you have good news!”, Mrs Morales deduced as she went forward to have a seat.
“What's going on?!”, she inquired, wondering what her husband was so happy about.
“We're going to get Isabella back very soon!”, Mr Morales said as she pushed a piece of paper towards his wife.
He continued, “look here!”
He pointed towards the amount boldly written on the check and the account he had sent the money to.
“This is two million and five hundred thousand Euros!”, Mrs Morales said, her eyes wide in shock.
“Yes my wife! The business has been booming so well! And guess what?!...”, Mr Morales asked, sparking suspense.
“What?, just tell me already!”, Mrs Morales said, equally happy with the news her husband was divulging.
“Fine!!
I've paid it twice. This is the second week!”, Mrs Morales heard, immediately tearing up at the news.
“This makes my heart full amore! We can get Isabella back soon!”, Mrs Morales said.
“I feel so happy as well.
In total, we have paid six million and eight hundred thousand Euros!”, Mr Morales said, having done the math himself.
“I never knew this business could be so lucrative!”, Mrs Morales said.
“Me neither!”, Mr Morales replied.
“Isabella is going to come back to us soon!”, Mrs Morales said, hopeful as she looked at the receipt.
The couple had no idea the things their daughter was going through in Luciano's mansion, or the things she was about to go through.
All they knew was that they were paying back the amount they owed The terrifying Don bit by bit.
Albeit holding out hope that their family would reunite someday, the couple had no idea that would happen later than they expected.
Much later.
“Is it done?!”
“Yes my love!”, Mia answered, smiling as she conversed with the unknown number on the burner phone.
“You didn't even call me back to inform me, eh?!”
“Ahh you know this house, I have been busy. I had to slip away to give you a call now!”, Mia replied, looking at herself in the mirror of her ensuite bathroom.
“Hmmm! Very well!”
“Don't worry, I avoided all the cameras!”, Mia assured.
“Good job my love! I should be expecting news now, yes?!”
“Exactly today…!”, Mia said as she paused to listen to Madam Paula calling her name from a distance.
She continued, “I have to go now! I'll call you later, si?!”
“Va bene amore mio, abbi cura di te!", the voice said.
“Si, te amo!”, Mia replied before she cut the call and proceeded to return the burner phone to where she hid it.
