Chapter 54 Karma maybe?
Already deciding to leave the mansion regardless of her family, Isabella knew she needed to have a plan.
A foolproof plan at that.
I’m going to need cash!, Isabella started as she stood up and approached her suitcase.
She remembered the stack she had kept in a hidden part of her suitcase.
Good thing I kept these bills, Isabella said as she held the hundred Euro bills in her hand.
She had kept the hundred Euro bills in her pocket the night Luciano had taken her away from her family.
I need to leave as soon as possible, Isabella said as she looked towards the window.
The thought of finally leaving excited her.
I'm going to need a way out of the mansion, and then I'll have to find my way from there, Isabella said as she wondered if she should pack some clothes or not.
Isabella was willing to leave it all.
She would go very far away and start a new life, one where she would finally put herself first.
The sound of footsteps caused Isabella to raise an eyebrow in question.
Who could that possibly be, She thought as she quickly packed what she had done.
Locking the door seemed to be useful hours after Luciano had had his way with her.
All she needed to do was act natural.
“Who is it?!”, Isabella asked as she approached the door.
“It's Mia! When did you suddenly start locking your door!?”, Mia asked.
“Oh nothing, it was just subconscious I guess!”, Isabella shrugged as she opened the door wide enough for Mia to come in.
“Ohh okay. I woke up earlier than usual, and I came to see if you were already up!”, Mia said.
“Ouuu Mattiniero!”, Isabella teased as she went to sit on her bed.
“Unlike people I know who sleep in! Why are you up so early?!”, Mia asked.
“Ohh nothing! I was hungry and I thought about going to get something when you came knocking!” Isabella answered.
“Ohh I don't think there's a lot of snacks left, so we have to cook something!”
“So that means you're getting groceries along with Madam Paula this week?!” Isabella asked, seeing an opportunity.
“Si! Don't worry I'll try to get you your favorite cookies!”, Mia said, having no idea Isabella was planning an escape.
My perfect ride to town, Isabella thought as she heard about their grocery run.
“I'm starving! Can we go cook something?!”, Isabella asked, her way of getting Mia to leave the room.
She didn't want Mia to pick up on the small bag she hadn't hidden well.
Both ladies left Isabella's room, heading towards the kitchen to whip something up for late breakfast.
The Mansion seemed quiet, except for the constant footsteps from the men on guard in the yard.
The sounds of pots and pans, along with giggling seemed to be the only sound Luciano could hear from a distance as he prepared to go to his “office”
The rest of the men who had stolen out of the shipment had been tracked and apprehended and Luciano had to see to it.
This time he wasn't under an influence, thus, Andreas called him straight away as soon as they got answers.
Quite unbothered about the pain he had caused Isabella hours before, Luciano leisurely descended the stairs, a car waiting for him right in front of the mansion.
“Morning Don!”, the driver named Alessandro said as he stood by the opened car door.
“Morning! Take me to the office!”, Luciano ordered as he went in.
“Yes Don!”, Alessandro acknowledged as he went over to the driver's seat.
“Any stops sir?!”, Alessandro asked, turning the ignition on.
“Not for now!”, Luciano replied, taking his phone and scrolling through the report Andreas sent him.
Alessandro wasted no time in rolling out of the mansion as he sensed the slight urgency in Luciano's voice.
In the line of business he had chosen to work in, there was no such thing as ‘days off!’
Halfway through the journey, Luciano looked up from what they were doing, seeing that they had driven onto the highway.
“You don't need to drive so fast Alessandro, the office won't move from where it is!”, Luciano said, very unprepared for what to come next.
“There might be a problem sir!”, Alessandro interjected.
“What do you mean there's a problem?!”, Luciano asked, reaching for his gun as he turned to see if they were being followed.
“The car’s not stopping!”, Alessandro replied.
“What do you mean the car’s not stopping?!”, Luciano asked, watching Alessandro’s desperate attempts to stop the car.
“Something's wrong with the brakes sir!”, Alessandro answered.
“Shit!”, Luciano said, immediately dialing Andreas' number in case something happened.
“I think the brakes have been cut, sir!”, Alessandro replied, already sweating.
“It wasn't like this when I drove Mr Andreas earlier!” Alessandro continued.
Who could have possibly tampered with the brakes, Luciano thought as he remembered the route Alessandro had taken.
Seeing a familiar landmark by the side of the road, Luciano knew they were approaching a slope.
“Crash into the side of the…!”
“Sir! We're approaching a…!”
Both men were suddenly cut short by the impact of the collision against the side of the curb.
Alessandro had tried his best to avoid the slope by opting to crash into a roadside curb.
An unplanned decision that wasn't executed properly, the weight of the vehicle alongside the pull from the slope caused the vehicle to tumble down hill.
The vehicle tumbled violently, quickly attracting bystanders.
Luciano, who was conscious throughout the tumble, immediately passed out as soon as the worn vehicle collided with the floor at the base of the slope.
His cracked phone which displayed Andreas’ name was still ringing.
Luciano struggled to open his eyes as he felt a warm liquid gush from the open wound on the side of his head.
“Alessandro…!”, He called out weakly before he completely blacked out.
“Hello!”, Andreas said, finally picking up the phone.
“Don!”, He called out again, hearing unregistered voices from the other side of the phone.
“Hello!”, Andreas said again, raising an eyebrow in question of what was going on.
Onlookers who had seen the whole thing happen quickly rushed to the vehicle, quick enough to pull out both victims before the vehicle blew up.
Having no idea what was going on, Andreas decided to call Madam Paula.
Madam Paula who was just about to head out of her room to start her day was rather surprised to see Andreas calling her.
