Chapter 34 Back to Venice I
Madam Paula and Mia who were just coming out after hearing the gunshot were rather appalled to see The Don carrying Isabella.
“Oh no!”, Mia said as she shared a look with Madam Paula.
“Could it be ?!”, Mia thought as she wondered if the boss had shot Isabella.
Not caring to explain what had happened, Luciano simply said, “where's her room!”
Fidgeting, Mia quickly went to the front, leading The Don to Isabella's room.
Opening the door wide enough, Luciano entered the room, an unconscious Isabella still in his arms.
He moved towards the bed, gently laying her down on it.
Luciano brought his hand to her neck to check her pulse as she looked calm while she laid on the bed.
Too calm!
He was finally relieved upon feeling that her heart was still beating.
Luciano looked at the simple room she stayed in before his eyes landed on both Madam Paula and Mia.
“Clean her up!”, Luciano said as he went back to address the situation.
Seeing that The Don had left, Madam Paula turned to Mia.
“Weren't you supposed to be cleaning the yard together?!”, Madam Paula asked.
“We were, but…!”, Mia drawled as her sentence was interrupted by Madam Paula.
“But why was she cleaning it alone?!”
“I have no idea ma'am, we agreed that she would call me after she was done doing the dishes!” Mia answered.
Madam Paula simply shook her head as she approached an unconscious Isabella who laid peacefully on her bed.
Mia wondered why Isabella hadn't called her like they agreed. However, she couldn't ponder on her thoughts as Madam Paula gave her a task.
“Close the door behind you and lock it with the key!”, Madam Paula ordered as Mia did exactly as she was told.
Mia or Madam Paula who were staff in the house before Isabella were very aware of Luciano's job.
They just couldn't say they had experienced the same things as Isabella.
Because of this, Madam Paula and Mia made sure they cleaned Isabella up nicely, changing her into comfy clothes and leaving her to rest.
“How would we know when she wakes up?!”, Mia asked as Isabella's room was quite far from the kitchen.
“We'll take turns checking in on her!”, Madam Paula said as both ladies left her room.
~
In no time, the body had been cleaned up.
The same as the bunker as Luciano didn't like a mess.
He had no clue of what the man was telling Isabella, however, she looked too scared for him to discard.
He couldn't stomach other people hurting her.
The ruckus died down soon after, the mansion going back to its usual quiet state.
The guards resumed their positions, some of them leaving soon after as their services were no longer needed.
Everything went back to how it was supposed to be, except in fact, Isabella still laid unconscious on her new bed. Madam Paula and Mia continued to check in on her, just to make sure.

“She didn't react like this the last time!”, Andreas pointed out as he sat on Luciano's private dining table.
“She’ll be fine!”, Luciano answered him and he remained seated on his couch, typing away on his laptop.
“Do you want me to ask about her status from Madam Paula?!”, Andreas asked, genuinely worried for Isabella.
“Let me guess, you want to call a doctor!?”, Luciano pointed out sarcastically.
“I mean, she's been like that for three hours now. Does it take that long when someone's unconscious?!”, Andreas asked.
Of all, he would feel guilty if Isabella died on their watch, especially considering her family's circumstances.
“We don't need to call a doctor Andre, she just needs rest! She'll be up in a few hours!”, Luciano assured.
“Okay then!”, Andreas said as he went back to typing.
Silence ensued as both men went back to work.
Said silence didn't last too long however as Andreas brought something to Luciano's notice.
“Do you think the detective guy has something to do with the rats from Venice!?!”
Andreas' sentence gave Luciano something to think about.
Cocking his head to the side still in thought, Luciano saw the possibility as his jaw ticked slowly.
“It was a question Don, I don't know how true that is!”, Andreas said.
“I know, but it just could be!”, Luciano said as he went back to connecting the dots.
He might have not known at the moment, but there certainly was a boss that directed all this.
There was in fact a link between the private detective and the rats that commited suicide in Venice.
This enemy was and would be a bigger headache than he could ever imagine.
“Call my uncle! I'll be going to Venice tomorrow!”, Luciano said to Andreas as he opened the video footage from earlier.
“Yes Don!”, Andre acknowledged.
“Book us a flight to Venice!”

Isabella woke up in the early hours of the following morning very tired and hungry.
She opened her eyes slowly, looking around, her brain processing that she was in her new room and her clothes had been changed.
“What happened??”, Isabella asked no one in particular as she stood up slowly.
Resting on the headboard, Isabella slowly processed the series of events that preceded fainting.
Closing her eyes from the headache it caused her, she slowly brought her arms to her chest wondering who had changed her into the pajamas she was wearing.
‘Could it be?!’, Isabella thought as she wondered if Luciano had been the one to change her out of her uniform.
Afterall, he was the last person she saw before she fainted.
Hoping that wasn't the case, Isabella turned to leave the bed as she felt like urinating.
The door was suddenly opened by Mia who alongside Madam Paula kept watch of Isabella over the night.
“Isa!! You're awake!”, Mia exclaimed as she approached Isabella.
“You were asleep for so long!”,
Mia said as she sat beside Isabella.
“Are you okay??”, she continued.
“I'm hungry!”, Isabella said, causing Mia to smile gently.
