Chapter 30 That's not frank
Ravyen's POV
Frank made a walleye at me, my threat must have frightened him to look elsewhere. He seems jittery and couldn't further to eat any longer. He had even coughed and tried to gulp down.
I was expecting him to reveal the identity of the culprit he said he found but he seems to be delaying in doing just that.
He sat mute for a while after informing me that he was only joking about his earlier words. The quirk attitude he was observing seem to be getting on my nerves as I was patiently waiting for a word. To worsen it, my stomach was grumbling and I felt embarrassed.
However, Frank pretended not to hear that judging from the way he looks at me.
I guess he was waiting for an apology from me. He should know that I wouldn't do that.
I gazed at him expecting something from him.
After a while of locked gaze against each other, he tossed a large envelope on the table before me.
He still wore a frown from the moment I yelled at him and did not speak to me since then.
To be honest, I kind of feel sorry for the way I spoke to him.
"Everything you need to know is in the files" Frank disclosed while he stood up and took his leave.
I couldn't believe I didn't stop him or perhaps say something to calm him down.
That's just me I guess.
He'd probably get over it, I'm sure.
I took the envelope and hastily remove the files from it. Then my eyes lowered on the phone placed before me. I shouldn't be distracted by focus on the real deal.
My eyes scanned through the letters on the paper and I heaved a sigh of relief afterwards.
It had full proves of the murderer's actions.
Finally! The person we had been searching for ever since has been found.
I bet Arianna would be the happiest when she sees this. Speaking of Arianna, it's been quite a while since I saw her.
I wonder if she is at home by the way? Nevertheless, this is just my thick to start a conversation and she'd forget we ever had an argument. Furthermore, she owes me an apology.
I inserted the files back in the envelope and dashed out of the room.
My intention is to find Arianna and give her the goodnews alongside the documents in my hand.
I walked to her room where I expected her to be at the moment..
When I came before the door, I made a soft knock and waited patiently for her response.
A reply was not forthcoming not even a groan did she make to show she was in. Argh! It's the first time since fat I was knocking. Does she know how hard I swallowed my pride just to be here?
I thought she purposely refused to answer because she was still mad and didn't want to see me.
Should I give her the announcement at the door?
Perhaps she might open the door then.
I've been worried for her ever since her quirk. I wonder if she even eats. For her sake, I became a priest, having no food or water.
Will she be able to survive it?
Is she even okay?
I was about to open the door, when I heard strange sounds alerting from the kitchen. I was curious, puzzled and wondered what it could be.
An intruder definitely. I thought as my eyes lowered it's gaze. The kitchen leads to the backyard and someone must have sneaked in.
I pulled out a gun from my pocket and began pacing slowly, heading for the kitchen where I heard the sound. Plates clash on each other. It was dark except for a tiny glow certainly from a flash light.
I made sure my steps were as quiet as possible. I wanted to see who it was that came at such an hour of the night.
I will fucking blow the head of any stranger I catch in my kitchen.
While I was on my way to the kitchen, I had thoughts of who could possibly barge into my house.
Could it be the murderer who followed Frank to my house after discovering that Frank knew his secret?
That is ridiculous, Frank always does a neat job. There's no way he'd leave a stone unturned.
How about Frank?
I have offended him earlier, he might be back for revenge or probably to make me pay for not apologizing.
I was one step to the kitchen already.
This is it, the culprit is behind that door.
All I have to do is to take whosoever is there unawares.
I thought of my way to enter through for awhile.
If I should open the door slowly and the person in the kitchen has a gun, I'll be a dead man.
If I should bang the door and the one in the kitchen has a fast hands, I might equally be a goner.
Hmm! I heaved a sigh as both of my thoughts seem to be useless.
I could hear the sound of utensils clashing against each other.
What could this stranger need a utensil for?
I was tired of guessing what the intruder was doing or is up to so I opened the door slightly and peeped through.
I could see his back alone. He was bent slightly to the cabinet and taking things before himself.
I couldn't see what was before him, because his back obstructed me. But I could see his hand with a knife.
He swung it in the air to test whether it would have a perfect kill.
He nodded his head forward afterwards after confirming that he would make use of the night.
That is not Frank. I admitted.
This is the right moment to take whosoever is in by surprise.
I opened the door slightly and got in unnoticed.
The back owner made a turn to reveal the personality, and I stood still with my gun pointing forward to defend or attack an intended robber.
Our eyes suddenly met, while her eyes shut opened at mine.
The tray in her hand met the ground as well as every dessert on it. It was female not a male.
There were cookies, sausages and sliced cheese with a broken mug of coffee.
"Arianna?" I muttered her name immediately.
I was shocked to see her there.
Why would she sneak into the kitchen this night?
Here I was worried she would starve to death, I guess some people couldn't go hungry for a minute.
Her eyes were fixed upon the gun in my hands.
