Chapter 25 What happened
ARIANNA'S POV
""Shit! We have to get back to the company" I proposed.
I felt she was tired already. If was clearly not her thing to rally round. But for the purpose of finding her mother's killer, she wasn't going to relent easily.
I wished she didn't come along, she wouldn't have to undergo this stress.
I was however happy to have her by my side. She made my day.
I took pictures of the deceased and we left his house immediately.
On our arrival, the receptionist wasn't in her place. I didn't see that as strange yet until we walked into the CEO's office.
Jesus Christ!" Her voice jerked me back to reality.
She was sobbing so much that it made me flinch. Not again, she had seen far too many creepy things and acts for the nights and I felt bad for her.
I took her head to face me.
"Hey, shhh, it's okay Arianna, I'm here, don't be scared" i assured inserting her hairs in her ears.
She shook her head and shook.
"No! What happened, I can't do this anymore" she cried and I had to remind her we needed to be here to get the evidence needed. This frighten woman lowered her head down shaking it and trying to gain her breath.
"Look, Aria, just relax, I got everything understand control" I pressed on trying my best to keep her calm again. I kissed her forehead and made sure she stood at a distance, just not to retch over the dead bodies she had since so far.
I swallowed hard and took out gloves. These always comes in handy. I never leave them behind especially due to the kinds of affairs I run.
She was worried, certainly for me because she kept pestering me that we should leave. Just in case the cops comes in. I heard her footsteps to and fro, when I glanced at her, she was peeping to and fro
I moved on ignoring her suggestion and persuasion.
When I got to the body, I looked around for a possible clue leading to his death. Because I have dealt with such kinds of CEO. They always leave a clue for their death.
I found it. It was just right there, beneath his desk
He was dead, his throat was slit open.
I widened my eyes and stood agap.
We headed back to the company in a hurry to return back to our first suspect. Something was off though.
I was terrified, it was obvious, I was nausea, almost throwing up as everything was fading from my head.
Nothing makes sense, why do I have to encounter two dead beings? To worsen it, the way ravyen acted was something so queer for a gentleman.
He didn't seem to fret like he'd seen dead bodies before, he seemed so serious. When he had tried flipping that man from off the window, I almost dropped dead but fortunately, he was holding him with a tie!
What was he? Spiderman saving someone with his cobweb which obviously was a fucking tie.
When he had given him daring glare, threats that could jolt a soul out of the being.
I tried not to think over what just transpired in the fee hours. We needed to leave but he claims he wants to find a clue that could lead us back to who exactly was behind this.
I paced to and fro shivering, my eyes watches him as he picked something folded.
I didn't get to read his facial reaction because he was backing me, in a squatting position.
He quickly stood up and that was a relief for us to leave but then, he didn't seem like one intending to go yet.
I irk an eye on him on what next he intended to do but he ignored me. If we were partners, why does he keep pushing me aside?
He paced to the library, falling books and I cringe at the noise he was creating. He suddenly held a book, brought out his phone and took images of it.
Perhaps, he could be the next detective Holmes but not now because I was certain the cops would be arriving anytime soon.
I was already worked up as it is because none of what I wished for came through.
It was only getting bloody and I didn't want to get my hands stained just to figure out evidence and hints.
"Rav... please let's just go" I reasoned almost sobbing again and leaning my back on the wall and exhaling softly.
He shifted his eyes at me and nodded. Finally he'd be leaving.
It seems as though he found he was looking for and I intended to ask when we get into the car.
My ears suddenly heard the blaring of sirens drawing close. We both stared at each other glued to a spot.
Ravyen took my hand, quickly opened the door and we both stormed out. I panicked almost loosing my breath and hoping we make it out alive or possibly could get caught.
Luckily for us, we took our exit through the back door but I felt that was too easy to leave without some hurdles.
That's because a cop had seen us coming out of the room but if I wasn't mistaken, he exchanged an eye glance with ravyen.
There was neither problems when we tried leaving the place with our car, even at a close range the cops, even when no one was permitted to leave just to find a suspect.
However, we were freely allowed to pass. I tried to assume that it's because ravyen was perhaps rich and a wealthy conglomerate that he was granted such honor.
I shove the thought from my mind as I was still sick. My throbs as I stared at the windscreen, speechless.
I took a glance at ravyen and realized he was staring at me and rather than concentrating on the route he took.
I felt he desired to ask a question but was concealing himself. I rolled my eyes from him, rested my head on the seat.
The memories of earlier flooded my head and I shut my head, exhaling deeply and my chest felt so burden.
Why does it have to be my mom? It wasn't as though she owns them anything to be precise!
Speaking of which, I just recall I had to Ravyen had a clue after all that research he had done to an extent he rampaged the office just to clear his head of the evidence he needed.
"What have you got?" I asked stirring up a conversation between us after the long silence.
"Nothing much except a coffee shop" he said and the car came to a halt.
I narrowed my eyes at him, feeling exhausted as I wasn't ready for another investigation.
Perhaps, this could be one of the reasons he wanted me to stay back just not get stressed and have nightmares over scenes that could frighten me.
I shook my head refuting another investigation. He knew that judging from the way he intensively stared at me. His grip were on the steering wheel until he took them off.
He unfastened his seatbelt and drew his face closer to mine. His body moved a bit from his seat as his body almost invaded mine.
I quickly held my seatbelt, gasping softly. My mind was blank as I needed that position he took.
If he wanted a kiss, my lips were forever ready, I needed it, his warmth to replace my sadness.
The clue was a coffee shop, possibly I might change my mind to follow him if he kissed me passionately.
His voice has a way to release fear from me and his stare had a way of piercing my soul.
I ducked my head and gulped hard, my heartbeat so fast that I might fall into shock.
