Chapter 23 Do your job properly
Ravyen's POV
Do your job properly, I am his wife by the way" she announced banging her hands on the desk. She frightened both me and the lady.
"Oh! I am so sorry" she mockingly said scanning Arianna from head to toe.
I gulped down as the receptionist declares that her boss wasn't aroun
We believed her boss was still around and we tried reasoning with her to let us see him.
Someone suddenly dropped files on her desk, and I threw my gaze at who it was.
Surprisingly, it was the boss!
Arianna and I gave a quick look at each other as we realized the receptionist had been lying all along.
The CEO appeared to be making a quick move in escaping. He acted cool and didn't hesitate to change his direction, as though he was meant to leave.
"Hey!" Arianna yelled immediately for him to stop.
If only she had kept calm and only pay attention to my signal, we would have beat him to his game. Left for me, a little punch, kicks and bullet would have help.
I had a knife, all I had to do is to throw it at him. But I'm afraid, the holy and good Arianna never wants violence involved.
The chubby looking man began running as Arianna voice frightened him.
We joined in the race and ran as fast as we can to catch up with him.
A car waited on front for him, there is no way we would catch him if he gets to the car.
"Arianna?" I called softly as we rolled our eyes to his direction. He was our catch. I couldn't afford to miss him.
I turned around and saw that she had made a halt and was panting heavily.
"Are you okay?" I asked her as she attracted my concern.
"I can't run any further" she complains while trying to catch her breath.
Seriously? Is she going to do this now, when our ticket to revealing reasons for her mother's death was before us.
"He's getting away!" She pointed out and once again I chased. He has succeeded in getting into his car and zoomed off.
I scoffed as I knew my car was a lot more faster.
"Come on, we can still catch him" I beckoned and ran into the car.
She stood still in her position, and put her hands on her waist. I was confused with what she was actually doing.
Is she okay? I had to ask myself.
The suspect is getting away and she seems to be reluctant in chasing.
Sometimes I wonder if she ever loved her mom or she was only trying to fulfill the responsibility as a daughter.
I got out of the car in order to carry her as her thoughts may be.
"Drive the car to me stupid!" She yelled and stamped her feet on the floor angrily
My senses had actually come back in place. She actually has a great idea, and here I was admiring her.
I zoomed off as soon as he entered.
There's no way the CEO's car will supercede the speed of my awesome Arianna.
I could still see sights of his car on the highway.
"Oh my goodness! You let him get away" Arianna panicked while she flapped her fingers.
The last time I checked, she was the reason our chase got hindered. If she hadn't call me, I would have caught him earlier.
I took a shortcut path and stopped right in front of the incoming mobile. It was the CEO's.
He was highly alerted a reversed his car.
I smiled and fired on my wheels. There is no way he would escape, not when I have a lady like Arianna in my car.
Her gaze indirectly spoke her words. She would definitely strangle me if I let the suspect escape.
As soon as my car got close to his, I merged my car unto his and changed his direction. He was unable to maintain his lane, and so his car smashed against the wall.
We got out of our car and went to check out his.
It was a good he was still alive, that means our mission was halfway a success.
Luckily for us, we were at the company once again. I guess revising his car landed him in the very spot we wanted him to be.
I folded his hands to the back and held him firmly while compelling him to move inside.
"Please! Do not kill me. I will give you anything you want" the CEO pleaded with us.
Once again we met the receptionist but in an unusual manner.
Her eyes popped open while her mouth suspended from speaking. Her eyeballs followed our movement as she was in shock. Her boss was being held against his will in her presence.
"Do not think of calling the police, because they are already here" Arianna threatened the woman.
Did she really mean we were cops?
So I am playing a cop now, great!
The receptionist kept mum as she allowed us in without much consideration.
We sat him down on his chair inside his office.
Arianna and I sat at adjacent sides of the table while he was before us.
I brought out my little jotter and pen from my pocket as I would need it for statements and hints. Ordinarily, my men should be handling this but I was kind of loving the moment with this woman, who please should stop acting all friendly to a suspect!
"Please! Do not hurt me, what do you want? I will give you anything" the rich folk pleaded again.
"Oh I'm so sorry, I'd call a doctor after this, do you want milk, bacon...Rav, I think we're hurting him"
The CEO and I rolled our gaze to her and she gulps. Perhaps, she should book a resort for him after the interrogation!
I pushed her back softly, rolled my sleeves up, held his seat and dragged him to the glassy wall, if he doesn't spill the truth, I don't mind throwing him off.
"All we want is for the you to be frank with us" I stated but giving him a frown to still trigger the fear in him. He was still reluctant, probably because miss do good here was soft on him.
She keeps bugging into the interrogation.
"Rav, be nice on him, don't make him panic, he'd be so tense that he might pass out"
"Shut up Arianna! Let me handle this!" I barked and she shuddered as though a cat held her tongue.
The CEO looked puzzled at us as he pulled a long face, crossed his arms and said;
"No"
That was beautiful, tonight, it seems Arianna would know the kind of person I was. Speaking of which, she was ruffling her hair, taking a glimpse at the large clock which hung inside this office.
"Alright" I replied giving him a devious smile. I quickly pulled out his tie without him realizing it, jerked him from the chair, haul to the window and threw him out like he was an object to be discarded.
"No!" Arianna scream and I threw my gaze at her as she ran towards the window to see the gothic sight of a man falling from the seventh floor of a duplex.
