Chapter Ninety-One
"Good morning, kitten. How are you feeling?" Damien said as I sat at the kitchen table, trying to wipe the sleep from my eyes.
"I'm alright, babe," I mumbled as I drank the coffee he sat in front of me.
"Are you feeling up to the task of helping Octavia reinforce her borders?"
"I think so, yeah," I said with a nod. I felt up to it the next day, but Damien and Octavia insisted that I rested, as they thought I couldn't believe that I'd healed that quickly.
"Well, Octavia said for us to meet her at the border today at 10, so once the kids have eaten, we need to get going." He said as he set down a plate of breakfast for me and took two baby bottles out of the fridge, putting them in boiling water on the stove.
"Okay," I said as I started scarfing down my food, not knowing when the babies would be waking up. For the last few days since we brought them home, it seemed like they would wait until I started to eat before they would wake up and cry. Of course, Damien would take care of the babies while I slept. He wouldn't allow me to get up out of bed until I had a minimum of my eight hours.
"Kitten, don't eat so quickly. The babies should be just fine. They were up a little over an hour ago, and they both drank a full bottle." Damien said as he put on his jacket and bent down to kiss me. "I'll be back in a few hours, before its time to meet up with Octavia. I'll have my phone-"
"Babe, I love you, but please leave already. You've done this every morning since we brought the babies home. Do you not trust me to watch our kids?" I asked him, furrowing my brows in confusion as I looked into his electric eyes. I knew that wasn't the reason he did it, but at the same time, it was starting to get annoying that he felt the need to do it every day.
"Of course not!" He said, his eyes widening in shock and disbelief "Bast, we don't know when their powers will manifest, or when they will start tapping into their vampiric abilities."
"I know, babe. Go feed, and be safe." I said as I stood on the tips of my toes to kiss him, then waved him away. Once he left, I sat back down at the table to finish eating my breakfast and was surprised when I was able to finish, without the babies crying. After washing my plate and taking the bottles out of the water, I went into the nursery to find that both of the babies were laying in their cribs, wide awake.
"Oh hey, babies. I'm surprised you didn't cry for momma today." I mumbled softly as I picked Azeneth up, and held her in my arms, giving her one of the bottles. They had continued to age much faster than a regular baby, and now, only four days old, they appeared to be closer to about two months old.
________
A few hours later, I had the babies dressed and ready to go, and the three of us were sitting on the living room floor when Damien came home from feeding.
"This is something I don't think I can ever get tired of," Damien said as he tossed his jacket on the couch, and sat down across from me, smiling as Ciaran started to laugh.
"They are getting so big, so fast," I commented, pinching Azeneth's cheek softly.
"Yes, they are. A day for them is at least a week in human years."
"Do you think we should be worried about this?"
"I don't know. I've found that I cannot stop worrying about it."
"Our babies are aging so quickly if it keeps going like this, they won't live long."
