"How did your dad get your mom killed? Or, our dad? Oh my god, I'm not going to get used to saying that." I said with a soft giggle.

"You have scotch in that mansion, vampire?" Kerr asked Damien, motioning towards the house.

"Of course, I do, don't be absurd," Damien responded with a light growl, but it was a playful type growl. Which is progress, I guess?

"So, is Kerr being your lune the same thing as being married?" I asked Octavia as we walked into the house, following Damien into the kitchen.

"For our kind, yes. Becoming mates before our pack is our version of getting married." She responded, then grabbed a bottle of scotch and poured it into two cups. When she tried to hand one to me, I smiled and pointed down at my stomach, reminding her that I was pregnant. "Right, sorry. I forgot."

"Let's go to the library, that's where we always have our important talks," I said with a smile after making myself of a cup of tea, then walked out of the kitchen and across the foyer, into the library.

"Harold and I are going to the guest house, and leave you all to your talk," Jaxson said as he nodded to Kerr and Octavia, then walked out with Harold.

"Another talk? My god, this room has heard a lot of things." Sinclair said as he walked into the room and smiled softly at me before sitting down next to Samantha, stretching out with a yawn.

"Do they walk into your house unannounced like this all the time?" Kerr asked incredulously as he downed his scotch, then poured himself another cup.

"Unfortunately, yes," Damien responded, looking over at Sinclair, raising an eyebrow. "What has you so happy?"

I looked at Sinclair but didn't see what Damien was referring to, as he didn't look pissed, but he didn't look anything. His golden eyes seemed to be a little brighter than usual, but other than that, his face was emotionless. *'How does he figure he's happy?'*

"I met with the recreant army that little Bastet, accrued, and they asked me to be their leader. Leader of the recreants, if you will." Sinclair gloated, peeling his lips back into a smile as he looked between Damien, Octavia, Kerr, and me.

"Woah, there is so much about that sentence that confuses me. Did Bast accrue an army of recreants? How and when? And why did they ask you to be their leader?" Octavia asked incredulously, turning her attention to me, watching me like she was looking at me for the first time.

"Long story short, Damien and Sinclair hated each other, Damien had Sinclair locked in the basement. I found Sinclair, and we talked and became friends, and accidentally helped him escape. He kidnapped me to get away, and I made Damien not kill him when he caught up to us and showed him that recreants aren't what everyone thought they were, then Damien changed the recreant law." I said, then took a break to drink some of my tea before continuing.

"Yesterday, like almost 100 recreants showed up to thank me because they were finally able to come out of hiding and told me they pledged their lives to me. Also, they said they would protect our wedding if we decided to get married again."

"That's a lot, and I honestly don't think I'm going to be able to take any of that without further explanation," Kerr said, shaking his head.

"What about what she said, has you unable to comprehend?" Sinclair asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.

"For starters, why were you locked in the basement? And why are you able to sit here with Damien, like you weren't his prisoner?" Octavia asked as she poured herself another glass of scotch, shaking her head in disbelief.

"I turned Lucifer into a vampire which he never forgave me for-"

"You turned Dam- Wait, did you call him Lucifer? You turned him, so that makes you super old!" Samantha cut in, surprising me as I'd forgotten she was there. Despite sitting right next to Sinclair, she'd remained so silent that I'd forgotten that she was sitting there.

"Yes, I'm quite old, Samantha. Yes, his name by birthright is Lucifer, he goes by his middle name now. I turned him, and once I became a recreant, he started hunting me. He caught me a while ago and kept me, prisoner, in the basement for decades until little Bastet found me and aided in my escape. I had to kidnap her as Lucifer would have captured and killed me had I not. When he caught up to us, Bastet refused to allow him to kill me and made him listen while I explained what a recreant was. Lucifer and I were still at ends in the beginning, but we got over our differences when Bastet got hurt and took our vengeance on those responsible." Sinclair explained, then looked at Octavia and Kerr, waiting to see if we had any further questions.

"So, you're okay with sitting here, right next to the man who kidnapped your girlfriend?" Octavia asked Damien instead.

"If Sinclair and I don't get along, Bastet will surely kill us both. She loves me, and she loves him. Sinclair walked her down the aisle at our wedding, if that answers your question." Damien answered, putting his arm around my shoulder, pulling me against him.

"Are you really trying to play that you're afraid of your human bride? I mean before you found out that she was an elemental." Octavia asked with a snort.

"Bastet can be a terrifying little thing when she wishes, and a demented little thing to boot," Sinclair said, raising an eyebrow.

"I concur," Damien added.

"Seems to run in the family then, huh?" Kerr asked jokingly, giving Octavia a sideways glance.

"In the mood to press your luck, Kerr?" she asked, punching him in the arm before kissing him on the cheek.

"No ma'am, I like breathing." He said, kissing her temple before turning his attention back to Damien and me. "About the wedding, That only raises more questions. If you had a wedding, why aren't you married?" Kerr asked him as he leaned back on the couch.

"Sinclair told you about the vampire I set on fire?" I asked me as I sat on Damien's lap, stretching my legs out on their couch. I waited until Kerr nodded before continuing. "She sent vampires to attack our wedding and killed every human in attendance, other than Sammy and Valerie. The only reason I didn't die is because of Damien and Sinclair."

"Who's Valerie?" Octavia asked.

"She is, er, was my best friend."

"Oh, I'm guessing that's due to what happened at the wedding?"

"No, well, yes but, no. Valeris is dating Sam; you know Damien's lieutenant? Well, it turns out she was cheating on him, and now she's pregnant. So, after the wedding, she was causing a lot of shit, and Damien almost killed her, so when I got back, I confronted her about it. She finally came clean about it and told me not to tell anyone because she needed to figure out a way to tell Sam. But since Sam isn't here, I'm guessing he's with her."

"Why is this the first time I am hearing about it?" Damien asked me incredulously, cocking his head to the side.

"She asked me not to tell anyone, but I told her the only person I wouldn't tell was Sam because that's her responsibility. Now is the first time Sam hasn't been around." I responded with a shrug, then shook my head. "He's going to be pissed."

"Not as much as you may think," Sinclair said with a chuckle, then looked to his right where Samantha was sitting there watching and listening.

"Is he going to kill her?" Samantha asked Sinclair, widening her brown eyes slightly in worry.

"I do not believe so. Sam has his eye on someone else and was going to end things with her anyways. But it's still a possibility, as she did something incredibly disrespectful." Damien answered her, shrugging softly.

"Are we going to talk about why you hate our dad so much? I'd rather not think about Valerie dying, even if we aren't friends anymore."

Octavia took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she shook her head. "You wanted to know how he got my mom killed?"

"Yeah..." I responded softly, narrowing my eyes softly. "But if it will cause you to freak out, we don't have to."

"No, it's fine. You deserve to know why I'm going to murder our father." She said, smiling softly as she no doubts thought about the ways she wanted to kill our father.

I looked at Octavia as she sat there, her eyes alive with nothing short of demonic enthrallment. *'Wow, she's very excited to kill our dad. If that wasn't so scary, it might be funny.'*

"Octavia, calm down," Kerr said softly, rubbing her back as he watched her, I guess making sure she didn't freak out again.

"I'm alright, Kerr," She said after a few minutes. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths before opening them to look at me. "Well, my mother was the daughter of the alpha of the red moon pack. And obviously, I don't know the story of how they met, but-"

"Wait, I'm sorry, but how is that obvious, again?" Samantha cut in, biting her lip in nervousness when Octavia turned to look at her.

"I never met either of my parents, Samantha. My mother had a friend take me right after she gave birth, and my father wasn't around to protect her when she went on the run." Octavia explained. It was clear that Samantha expected her to be upset for interrupting her, but she wasn't and didn't seem to mind it in the slightest. "So the woman who raised me, Anissa, she tried to teach me as much as she could once I turned sixteen, but as a human, there was only so much she could teach me."

Samantha started to ask a question, but thought better of it and remained silent instead.

"Why only when you were sixteen?" Sinclair asked for Samantha, shaking his head softly at her with a laugh.

"That's when I mimicked for the first time, so she had to tell me what I was, and teach me how to control myself," Octavia responded, then looked at me, raising her eyebrows softly.

*'Yeah, you and me both, sister.'* I thought with a giggle. I knew all too well how she feels, but to be fair, I was usually the one asking all of the questions and not vise versa.

"How old are you now?" Damien asked, cocking his head softly to the side. "I know you mimics age half as fast as humans, but does that go the same for hybrids? And you're an elemental, who become immortal after a certain age, correct?"

"Yes, mimics age slower, and elementals become immortal at the age of twenty-five. That goes the same for hybrids as well. And I'm twenty-four, so I should stop aging on my next birthday."

"Wait, does that mean I'm going to be immortal too?" I gasped out, my eyes wide in shock. *'I won't have to be turned to be with Damien? Oh my god! But, maybe it would be better if Damien did turn me? Otherwise, people might still try to come after me.'*

"No one in their right minds would come after a royal, Kitten, Regardless of whether you are half or not. Being half makes you the second strongest immortal alive, and that's second only to a full-blooded royal elemental." Damien said with a smile, rubbing my back.

"I'm not entirely sure if he could turn you anymore, to be honest," Octavia said, furrowing her brows thoughtfully.

"I know how Damien knew what I was thinking, but how in the hell did you know what I was thinking?" I asked Octavia, furrowing my brows in confusion. "And why don't you think he'd be able to turn me?"

"I've never heard of an elemental turned into a vampire. I'm not sure if they'd even retain their elemental abilities if they did turn anyway."

"Why do you think they wouldn't retain their abilities?" Samantha asked softly, sitting forward on the couch as she watched our conversation with wide-eyed amazement.

"Because our elemental abilities are bound to this earth. How would we be able to conjure fire, if it's one of the few things that could kill a vampire? How would we bend the air to our will, if we do not need to inhale it any longer?" Octavia said with a shrug, biting her lip as she began considering it.

"Well, fire isn't the only thing harmful to a vampire its only when an elemental is controlling that fire that we have a reason to worry," Damien said with a slight laugh, then pulled out his phone, kissing me on the temple before leaving the room.

*'Maybe Damien and Octavia were meant to be together, and not me and Damien.'* I thought as I recalled the way the two of them interacted. At first, they were at each other's throats, but now they didn't seem to mind it all too much. *'The only reason he wanted me is so I would keep him from being recreant. But mimics and vampires hate each other, so no way that could ever have happened.'*

"Slim, and very much so," Sinclair said, then looked at me curiously, reminding me that he knew what I was feeling. As he watched me, I felt a sense of happiness and contentedness coming over me.

"Thank you," I giggled, shaking my head at him, before turning my attention back to Octavia. "So what do you plan on doing with our dad? So, you're going to kill him? Won't that cause a war?"

"I'm ready for such a thing to happen, and I have my pack training to be able to take it on." She responded, shaking her head. "He probably isn't expecting me to do such a thing. Probably doesn't even know who I am."

"I find that hard to believe; as news of your power and ascension to such has been news on all corners of the world. When I met with the recreant army, they were in disbelief that you were here, at the vampire king's house." Sinclair said.

"Can I say... I don't think any of you are giving enough props to Bast." Samantha suddenly said, raising her index finger to get our attention. Once everyone was looking at her, she spoke again; "She believed she was a human until yesterday, yet she's the vampire king's bride, she's currently pregnant with what is going to be the most powerful children in the history of this planet. She got an army of recreants, without trying to. She brought peace between the vampire king and what is the mimic's equivalent of a queen. Like, am I the only one who sees how insane all of that is? She's eighteen!" Samantha exclaimed, her brown eyes huge with excitement and wonder.

"You're right, Samantha. When you say it like that, I now realize how incredible it is." Damien said as he reentered the library. He pulled me into his arms and set me down on his lap, kissing my forehead softly. "You never cease to amaze me, my love."

"Octavia, I know the recreants are aching for a fight. Would you like some assistance in the war you'll wage against your father?" Sinclair asked, eying Damien and me with a slight scowl.

"Would you do that?" Octavia asked, her aquamarine eyes widening in shock. She started to speak again, but couldn't as her words got caught in her throat. Kerr chuckled softly and pulled her into his arms, kissing the top of her head.

"I pledge my resources to your battle, Octavia. You have my word that all I have is at your disposal. I understand that you never considered that you might have two armies standing alongside yours on that battleground, but you will have our support nonetheless." Damien said as he set me down on the couch to stand, holding his hand out to her.

Octavia's eyes filled with this overwhelming look of diabolical pleasure, no doubt thinking about killing our dad again, as she stood and shook Damien's hand, then Sinclair's. "Now, this is something he could never see coming." She said with a slight laugh before holding her hand out to me. "None of this would be possible without you, Bastet."

"I'm so happy I have a sister and all, but only Sinclair can call me that," I said as I stood and hugged her, laughing softly.

"And why is Sinclair the only one allowed to call you Bastet?" Damien asked as he looked down at me, raising an eyebrow.

"Because I can't do anything to make him stop?" I said it like a question but meant it as a statement. Damien knew just as well as I did that we'd never be able to get Sinclair stop.

"Hmm, yes, I suppose that's fair enough." Damien agreed, then looked to the doorway of the library where Sam was standing.

"I missed yet another library talk? What did I miss?" Sam asked as he shooed Sinclair to sit next to me so he could sit next to Samantha. *'Of course, it's Sam! Why didn't I think about that before? He was planning on breaking up with Valerie anyway because he's interested in Samantha. Hmm, Sam and Samantha? Weird, but cute.'*

"Planning the downfall of the elementals, Bastet and Octavia, are sisters, so you know... nothing much," Damien said, grinning when he saw the wide-eyed incredulous look on Sam's face.

"So now we're at war with the elementals?" He asked after a few moments of silence, then narrowed his eyes, "Wait, did you say, sisters? Like they share the same blood? My god, Bast. Are you alright?"

I nodded softly with a smile, "Why wouldn't I be? I'm getting married to the king of vampires, and my sister is, as Samantha said, basically the queen of mimics."

"So, you are still planning to marry?" Kerr suddenly asked, speaking for the first time for what seemed like forever.

"Of course, but it will likely be small... Well, you know the reason why." I said, then looked at Damien, who was smiling as he watched me. "I'm sorry, I never answered you earlier." I breathed out with a giggle. Damien had asked me if I still wanted to be with him, but before I could answer, I freaked out and had a quite literal fire in my hands to think about.

"Here's a crazy idea, and I cannot believe I'm going to say this. But it would solve multiple issues." Octavia started to say, but bit her lip before finishing, still considering whether she wanted to say it or not.

"If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, do it," Kerr said, nodding his approval. "It will cement this new partnership of ours, and give the pack time to get to know them, so there's no divide when we go after the elementals."

"You think so?" She asked him, turning to look at him as they stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes like they were having a mental conversation that no one else was privy to.

"Mimics in the same pack can communicate through thought, kitten," Damien whispered in my ear when he saw the way I was watching them. "From what I understand, they can turn it on and off at will, so they aren't always in the head of the pack."

*'Well, that's only slightly awesome.'* I thought as I waited for them to finish their conversation, so they could tell us what they were deciding.

"We have a town, and it's blocked so only a mimic can find it. I think you should come. I can teach Bast in a safe space how to control her abilities, and you can get to know the pack. No one can get to you there, so you can also get married there if you want to." Octavia finally said as she looked between Damien, Sinclair, Sam, and me.

"How do you block a town so only a mimic can find it?" Sinclair asked, narrowing his eyes in confusion.

"A witch helped me with it, but I also used my earth ability to block the town. You cannot see it, even if you are flying above it." Octavia answered with a sigh, waiting for us to give her an answer. "We have a hospital, so if you give birth while you're there, you'll still be in good hands."

"You'll teach her in your bunker, then?" Kerr asked.

"Either that or the arena," Octavia said with a shrug.

"Damien?" I asked, turning to look at him.

"I think it's a good idea, somewhere secluded where you can learn to use your abilities. Are you going to want any friends to attend?"

"No, other than Samantha, I don't care about anyone else. The ones I did care about are dead now." I said with a shrug, trying to hold back the burning feeling I felt trying to come up to the surface. From experience, I knew nothing good would come of me allowing it to come to the surface. "Oh, Sam, uh... How's Valerie?"

"Pregnant," He growled softly, his eyes flashing red for a second before he closed his eyes, shaking his head.

"Let's not antagonize Sam, Bast." Damien said as he turned his attention back to Octavia. "When would you like to leave?"

"The sooner the better, my mimic is getting hungry." She said as she stood and stretched, looking down at Kerr. "Are you ready to go?"

"Very much so, but I think I'd like the exercise. Would you like to run there?" He asked her as he stood, then looked at Damien and me, "When would you be ready to go?"

"Depends, where would we stay? Do you have an inn of some sort?"

"I have about fifty vacant houses, so when we get there, pick one. It can be yours because I imagine you will be coming back to visit occasionally." Octavia said with a shrug.

"Samantha, will you need one of us to drive you home?" Damien asked, then corrected himself, "Or rather, would you like Sam to give you a drive home?"

"I think I'd rather go with if that's alright. I know with all the mimics and vampires it might be weird at first, but I still want to be around for this." She responded softly, turning her big brown eyes towards Sam as she waited for a response. I swear I could practically see Sam melting under her gaze as he nodded softly and stood, holding his hand out to her.

"Come, let's get you packed." He said, then led her out of the room and outside.

"Wow, Sam likes her. Like, way more than he ever liked Val." I said with a giggle once I was sure they were far enough away so he couldn't hear me.

"He's falling for her, hard. That's for sure." Sinclair commented.

"Don't you also like the human?" Damien asked him, raising an eyebrow, a mocking smile on his face as he stared at Sinclair.

"No, and even if I did, I know for a fact that Sam's feelings for her are pure. He's for that human so hard it makes me sick to be around. Quite like being in the room with you four. So if you'll excuse me, I'll be taking my leave. I know where the town is, I'll meet you there."

"What was he just talking about?" Kerr asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.

"Sinclair knows what we're feeling at all times, and he can toy with those feelings if he wants to," I answered, shaking my head as I stood, using Damien's hand.

"If only a mimic can find it, maybe you could leave one of those in the guest house behind? Bast and Samantha will need to pack, and we'll need to drive there." Damien said, wrapping his arm around my waist. He waited until Octavia and Kerr agreed before carrying me up the stairs.
