Chapter 16

I walked alone in the hallway on the second floor of my house. Today, somehow it feels very lonely. Where is Mother? Kelly? Where did they go? Jenny and her children? Aren't they home yet? Why is it so quiet here?

"Why? What is wrong? You don't like my painting?" I heard Daniel's voice in his room, what does it mean? Who is he talking to?

I stood right in front of his bedroom door, exactly as I did a few days ago when I heard the sound of a small child whispering.

"I like it, but I don't think it's very similar to me!" Said a woman.

Who's that? Who is the woman in his room? Since when did he bring her in? I trembled, not knowing what to do other than try to listen to what they were saying inside.

"If you're not satisfied, I'll paint it again,"

"Really? But I like this one, do you think I'm that beautiful?"

"You're so beautiful, it makes me hard to paint you,"

"You're starting to get good at seducing me, aren't you? Hmm?”

"Promise you won't go back to him!" Said Daniel, I didn't know that Daniel could say something like that. Who is she? Is she his girlfriend?

I was shaking more and more, really didn't know what to do at a time like this. If the woman is really his girlfriend, I don't think it's a big problem. But, why did he bring the woman into the house? Did he know about all this, but didn't tell me or did you actually tell me, it's just that I don't remember it.

"I love you, please don't leave me, Lilith!"

“Lilith? What does it mean?" I thought, I really can't stand it anymore. I feel something is wrong, this is really strange.

I tried to open the door to Daniel's room which turned out to be unlocked. But, what do I see? I really can't believe this. I saw Daniel, who was shirtless and only wearing jeans, hugging a woman who was standing with her back to me.

The woman wore a red night dress with her dark brown hair flowing down her back.

“Daniel…!” I shouted, but he didn't hear me.

I felt a strange attack on my head, right where the operation had been. But for some reason, I didn't feel the pain I usually felt when this attack appeared.

Little by little, my vision blurred, it looked like I was going to faint. Before I completely lost consciousness, I looked around Daniel's room which was different from before. There are no dark, cold and scary rooms. But the room is filled with paintings of a woman displayed on every wall.

Paintings of dark brown-haired women, some wearing night gowns, there is even one painting of the woman lying on a bed. Her face? But, why can't I see her face? Who is she?

"Kate? Kate, come on, get up!" I faintly heard my mother's voice calling me, but I couldn't hear clearly what she said.

"Kathrine, my darling, come on, wake up...!" I heard my mother's voice calling me again, this time her voice sounded clearer than before.

I slowly opened my eyes, I vaguely saw her face in front of me. No, not just mom's face. Daniel's face, yes, there is Daniel's face too. I immediately raised my head when I realized that I wasn't dreaming.

"Mom? What happened?" I asked while holding my head which felt so dizzy that I felt like throwing up.

"You fainted in front of Daniel's bedroom door, what did you do?" She asked with a worried face that never disappeared.

"I-I saw Daniel bringing a woman into his room," I said, trying to remember what I saw before I fell unconscious.

"What? Woman? Who?" Mom asked, with a question mark she glanced at Daniel, who had been silent for a long time.

"You should just admit it, who is the woman in your room?" I asked Daniel, what annoyed me more was his face, which looked calm and didn't seem to care about the panic I felt.

"What does it mean, Daniel?" Asked mom, who was starting to be affected by my words.

"There's no one!" He answered in a cold way that made me sick.

"What? No one? I saw it with my own eyes and now you still want to avoid it?"

"You must be dreaming!" He answered sarcastically, I felt he was challenging me and lying to hide his rotten secret.

"What is this? Why is it so noisy in the middle of the night like this?" Asked Jenny, who had just come out of her room after hearing the commotion.

"I don't understand, Kate said that she saw a woman in Daniel's room, while Daniel said that he saw Kate had passed out in front of his room door,"

"Daniel, what does that mean?" Jenny asked.

“I think everyone knows who the sick person in this house is. The only one who has excessive hallucinations in this house is Kate.” He answered. Of course, mother and Jenny believed Daniel's words more, it was clear from the looks on their faces.

“Why do you always corner me by saying that I'm just hallucinating? I saw with my own eyes, the woman in the red dress that you hugged in your room, I saw her!" I shouted.

Mother and Jenny were silent, they looked at me with that pitying look again, especially mother who looked like she was almost crying, I don't know what she thinks about my current situation, I'm sick of being treated like a sick person.

"Kate, I think we should go to the hospital, I-"

“No, I don't want to go to the hospital anymore. Stop treating me like a dying person, you all don't understand...!"
