Chapter 114 Lingering Grudges

Chapter 114 Lingering Grudges

Rustle! Rustle! Rustle!
Three men dressed in jet-black clothing leaped from behind the thicket of rose bushes. They landed with heavy thuds on the garden gravel. Thin daggers in their hands gleamed under the yellowish glow of the garden lamps.
"Agatha, run!" Frans shouted. He immediately drew a pistol from his waistband.
Crack!
One of the attackers kicked Frans’s hand before he could pull the trigger. The pistol flew toward the fish pond. Frans hissed, instantly becoming entangled in a close-quarters struggle with two men at once.
"Stay back, Agatha! Do not come near!" Frans commanded between the thud of his punches.
Agatha gasped for air. She held her large belly with both hands. Cold sweat began to soak her temples again. The one remaining attacker walked slowly toward her. The man pulled off his face covering, revealing a scar that cut across his cheek.
"Do you remember me?" the man asked. His voice was hoarse and thick with hatred.
"I do not have time to remember the faces of every piece of trash," Agatha replied. She tried to stabilize her breathing.
"Marco was our master. You have destroyed everything. Now, it is time for you and the children in your womb to pay for our master’s life," the man said. He raised his blade high.
"Do not bring my children into your filthy business," Agatha hissed.
"Ugh," Agatha winced. She felt a small contraction brought on by the immense tension. She lowered her hands from her belly. Slowly, she reached into her cloak pocket.
"You can barely even move, Agatha. How do you plan to fight?" the man mocked. He stepped forward quickly.
Srip!
Agatha made a move that was entirely unexpected for a woman seven months pregnant. She pivoted to the side on one foot. Her movement was incredibly efficient. She avoided the man’s blade by only a few centimeters.
"What?" the man’s eyes widened.
"I may complain every day about my weight, but I never said I lost my instincts," Agatha said. In her hand, she now gripped a razor-sharp scalpel. She always carried it in her pocket as a final line of protection.
"You were just lucky!" the man screamed. He attacked again blindly.
Agatha lowered her body. She ignored the stabbing pain in her back. As the man swung his blade horizontally, Agatha caught his wrist with one hand. She used her own body weight as momentum.
Thuck!
"Akh!" the man shrieked. The scalpel in Agatha’s hand was driven straight into the artery in the man’s arm.
Agatha did not stop there. She twisted the blade with one quick, sharp jerk. Fresh blood sprayed toward her cream-colored fur cloak. She then delivered a solid kick with her heel toward the man’s knee.
Crack!
"Ahh!" the man collapsed onto the gravel. His knee had shifted out of place.
On the other side, Frans managed to take down another man, but he was being pressed by the others. "Agatha! Get inside the house!"
"Finish your business, Frans! I can handle this trash myself!" Agatha replied.
Two more men emerged from the darkness. They saw their comrade helpless at Agatha’s feet. They signaled each other and attacked Agatha simultaneously from both sides.
"Die!" they shouted.
Agatha took a deep breath. She closed her eyes for a moment. She felt the heartbeats of her three babies thumping hard in her womb. It was as if she received a burst of extraordinary strength.
"Mmhh," Agatha hummed low.
She shed her thick cloak, which was starting to hinder her movement. As the two men approached, Agatha grabbed a handful of sharp gravel from beneath her feet. She threw the stones directly at the eyes of one attacker.
"My eyes! Argh!" the man covered his face.
Agatha took advantage of the opening. She slid between the man’s legs. The move should have been impossible for a pregnant woman, but she did it with fluid grace. She rose behind the man and drove her knife into his lower back, right into the spinal nerve area.
Thud!
The man was instantly paralyzed. His partner tried to slash at Agatha’s head, but Agatha caught the hilt of the sword using the fabric of the cloak she had draped over her arm. She twisted the cloth until the weapon was wrenched from its owner's hand.
"How could..." the man could not finish his sentence.
Agatha delivered a hard blow with the palm of her hand to the man’s lower jaw. Thump! The man’s head snapped back and he fell unconscious.
Silence followed for a moment. Agatha stood tall in the middle of the garden, which was now filled with men groaning in pain. There was not a single wound on her body. She only looked a bit exhausted, her breath heavy.
"Frans, are you done?" Agatha asked. She turned to Frans, who had just snapped the neck of the last opponent.
Frans stared. He looked at the bodies around Agatha in disbelief. "You... you finished off four people in less than three minutes? With a belly that size?"
"I told you, they are just trash interfering with my walk," Agatha replied. She picked up her cloak and brushed off the dust.
"Xavier will kill me if he knows I let you fight like this," Frans muttered while picking up his pistol near the pond.
"Do not tell him, then," Agatha said.
Suddenly, the roar of a fast car engine came from the front gate. The screech of tires on asphalt tore through the silence of the night.
Screech!
At almost the same time, the secret door under the garden gazebo burst open. Bang! Don Cardios emerged with ten fully armed guards. The old man’s face was bright red with rage.
"Agatha! Where are you!" Cardios roared. His voice thundered through the garden.
A luxurious black car stopped right in front of the garden path. Xavier jumped out even before the car had completely stopped. He held an assault rifle in his hand. His eyes were wild, searching for his wife.
"Agatha!" Xavier yelled. His voice was frantic and full of fear.
Agatha saw her husband and grandfather running from two different directions toward her. She tried to smile, but a sudden weakness attacked every joint in her legs.
"Xavier," Agatha whispered.
Xavier dropped his weapon onto the grass. He ran with all his might across the garden. The distance left was only a few meters. Behind him, Don Cardios was also running at a speed that was nonsensical for a man his age.
"Do not move! Stay right there!" Xavier shouted again. He saw the blood on Agatha’s cloak, and his face grew even paler.
Frans immediately stood in front of Agatha, trying to explain the situation. However, neither Xavier nor Cardios cared for anything else but the figure of the pregnant woman standing in the middle of the fallen enemies. They continued to run toward her.
