Chapter 66

Chapter 66

"What's wrong?" Charlotte looked puzzled.

Jenna gestured with a jutted lip toward the two men ahead; "Those two guys were staring at you the whole time they walked past."

Then Jenna cupped her own face with a distressed expression: "Looks like I should hang out with you less often, or my beauty will end up completely overshadowed."

Watching Jenna’s theatrically exaggerated face, Charlotte burst into a laugh that quickly turned into a choke. She doubled over, coughing and frantically patting her chest to catch her breath.

Worried about being recognized by online haters, she not only wore a baseball cap but had deliberately pulled the brim low, covering half her face...

So Jenna was just teasing her on purpose.

She had just managed to stop coughing when Jenna suddenly bumped her: "Look, what a bitch!"

Were people staring at her again?

Charlotte found it both funny and ridiculous.

She was a married woman with a child almost six years old; it felt absurd, almost scandalous, that so many eyes were still drawn to her
Though she said that, she still curiously looked in the direction Jenna was pointing...

It was actually Alexander and Owen, along with Sabrina and Calvin.

Jenna was right - what a bitch indeed.

Jenna was still fuming beside her: "What rotten luck."

On the other side, Alexander had also recognized Charlotte.

Today, Charlotte wore a light blue casual athletic outfit. Her smooth hair was tied in a high ponytail, making her look incredibly fresh and lively.

At a passing glance, she possessed the fresh-faced aura of a recent graduate; there was nothing in her appearance to suggest she was the mother of a five-year-old.
Alexander's body stiffened. He was hesitating about whether to go over and say hello when he saw Charlotte suddenly turn and walk in another direction, as if she didn't want to run into him at all.

At this moment, noticing Alexander's unusual reaction, Sabrina also spotted Charlotte.

Why was Charlotte here too?

Was she deliberately staging a chance encounter to make peace with Alexander?

While she was thinking, Calvin beside her had already snorted: "Alexander, Charlotte really can't let you go. She actually followed you here to beg you to get back together."

Calvin's words hit exactly what Alexander was thinking, so he couldn't help but glance at Charlotte again.

Seeing this, Sabrina secretly glared at Calvin, then raised her face and called out sweetly: "Charlotte!"

But Charlotte didn't want to acknowledge them at all. She just pulled Jenna along to admire the scenery around them.

Sabrina secretly gritted her teeth but put on a pitiful expression: "Looks like Charlotte still won't forgive me."

Convinced that Charlotte had deliberately come here to stage a chance encounter and make peace with him, Alexander felt a hint of joy in his heart. But seeing that she was still ignoring Sabrina, he immediately felt a flash of annoyance...

Women really shouldn't be stay-at-home housewives - they become more and more petty and completely lose any sense of generosity.

So with that attitude, she wanted to make peace with him? Impossible.

So he helped Sabrina up: "Don't mind her, let's just enjoy ourselves."

But Sabrina took the opportunity to pretend to be tired, leaning gently against Alexander: "Alexander, I'm tired."

Her watery eyes secretly glanced toward Charlotte, wanting to see her look upset, but she was quickly disappointed because Charlotte didn't even glance in their direction.

Owen had also been secretly observing Charlotte. Hearing Sabrina say she was tired, he immediately put his small backpack on the ground: "Sabrina, sit here."

Sabrina had planned to continue being close to Alexander in front of Charlotte to make her give up, but with Owen doing this, it would seem too deliberate if she didn't sit down.

So she had to walk over and sit down, smiling as she patted Owen's head: "Thank you Owen, you're the best to me."

Owen looked proud, and to provoke Charlotte further, he became even more attentive to Sabrina: "Sabrina, are you still tired? Let me massage your legs."

As he spoke, he attentively began massaging Sabrina's calves.

However, from the corner of his eye, he kept secretly watching Charlotte and Jenna on the other side.

Unfortunately, the two of them didn't even give him a single glance.

Owen couldn't help grinding his teeth, feeling frustrated inside.

He had wanted to show Charlotte how good he was to Sabrina!

That she didn't know how to cherish him and had lost such a good son... But he never expected that she wouldn't even look at him.

It seemed that, just as Sabrina said, she was a heartless mother!

Jenna moved in close, her teeth clicking together in a frantic, angry rhythm. She decapitated a nearby wildflower with a sharp snap. "Owen really makes me so mad!"

"You worked so hard to raise him all these years, and he's running over there to fawn over Sabrina?"

"If I'd known, you shouldn't have given birth to him in the first place!"

But Charlotte gently patted her back: "Don't be angry, it's okay."

Looking at Charlotte's calm face, Jenna's eyes widened in surprise: "You're not angry at all?"

Charlotte shrugged nonchalantly: "Once you think it through, there's nothing to be angry about."

Jenna silently gave Charlotte a thumbs up.

Charlotte smiled and pulled her forward: "Let's go."

"Just because I'm not angry doesn't mean I like being around these people."

Jenna: "Okay, let's keep walking forward and leave these terrible people behind."

Seeing Charlotte and her companion leave, Alexander felt secretly anxious.

What was going on? She had gone to such lengths to follow him here to make peace, but she was leaving without saying anything?

Was it because she saw him with Sabrina?

Charlotte was so petty.

She deserved to learn a lesson!

Witnessing the sudden darkening of Alexander’s expression, Sabrina reached down, her fingers blindly tangling in the tall grass as she braced herself.
It was the weekend, and she had finally managed to use Owen as an excuse to invite Alexander on this outing, hoping to develop their relationship further.

But she never expected Charlotte to be watching them.

What rotten luck!

After playing with Jenna for half the day, Charlotte received a call from Landon as soon as she got back to her apartment.

"The evidence you mentioned the other day - I've already found everything for you. I'll send it to you now."

Charlotte was pleasantly surprised: "You found everything so quickly? Thank you."

On the other end, Landon suddenly paused: "You don't need to thank me."

Charlotte changed her response: "Okay, Landon, I'll definitely take good care of Philips for you from now on."
