Chapter 33
Sabrina again!
Charlotte secretly rolled her eyes.
If it weren't for the fact that Landon had helped her before, Charlotte would really suspect he was deliberately trying to annoy her. After all, there were plenty of good kindergartens in River City, yet he just had to choose the one Owen attended.
And now, she'd run into someone she didn't want to see again.
Charlotte had no intention of acknowledging Sabrina, so she simply moved further away and kept quiet.
Inside Alexander's luxury car.
Sabrina turned around, head lowered, looking pitiful: "Alexander, Charlotte's ignoring me. Is she still upset about me wearing the shirt yesterday?"
Unexpectedly, Alexander didn't respond.
Puzzled, she looked up, only to discover that Alexander, in the driver's seat, was staring at Charlotte's back in a daze.
Watching Charlotte's thin figure standing in the cold wind, Alexander suddenly felt uncomfortable and instinctively pushed open the car door: "Charlotte, it's windy out there. Wait in the car."
But to his surprise, after hearing his words, that thin figure not only didn't turn around, but moved even further away.
Sabrina had been quietly observing. Seeing this, she immediately comforted Alexander: "Alexander, looks like Charlotte's still angry. We shouldn't push her."
Alexander glanced at that motionless back and silently pulled his leg back in, closing the car door.
With a pleasant ringing sound, the children finally came out in lines.
Charlotte immediately started searching the crowd for Philip's little figure, wanting to quickly take him and leave.
Suddenly, there was a small commotion in one of the lines - two kids were fighting.
Charlotte frowned, but her sharp eyes quickly noticed that one of the kids was actually Philip!
Without thinking, she rushed over and separated the two fighting children.
Only then did Charlotte realize that the one fighting with Philip was actually Owen.
And at that moment, seeing Charlotte protecting Philip first, Owen felt both angry and wronged. He opened his mouth and burst into loud tears...
Soon, Alexander and Sabrina also rushed over.
The teacher hurriedly explained the whole situation to everyone.
It turned out that Philip and Owen had suddenly started arguing about who Charlotte was there to pick up, and somehow the argument turned into a fight.
This was right at dismissal time, with parents everywhere picking up their kids.
Seeing this scene, they couldn't help gossiping...
"These two kids look pretty similar. Could they be brothers?"
"Possibly. Looks like the mom really needs to be fair, or there'll be trouble."
"Wait, isn't that other couple the parents of one of the kids?"
...
Hearing these comments, Owen cried even harder.
Sabrina was disgusted inside, wanting to plug her ears, but she still pretended to look caring as she held him: "Owen, be good, don't cry."
Philip, however, kept his little face tense, his soft little hand tightly holding Charlotte's, not relaxing at all.
A kid nearby asked Charlotte curiously, "Who are you actually here to pick up?"
"Yeah, we won't play with whoever's lying anymore."
Charlotte opened her mouth: "Actually, I'm..."
"Charlotte." Alexander turned to the side, reminding her coldly, "What you say might affect Owen for life. Think carefully before you speak."
Sabrina also frowned: "Charlotte, you wouldn't abandon Owen, would you?"
Charlotte couldn’t be bothered with them and simply crouched down, placing her hands on Philip’s shoulders. “The person I’m here to pick up is Philip.”
The surroundings went quiet first, then erupted in commotion.
Alexander stared hard at Charlotte, as if he couldn't believe his ears.
As for Owen, he cried even harder because the kids around him were all laughing at him for being a liar.
Sabrina also opened her mouth slightly, looking shocked.
But Charlotte couldn't be bothered to look at them anymore. She slowly stood up, took Philip's hand, and walked out, chatting and laughing as if nothing had happened.
'Owen, didn't you say you didn't want a bad woman like me as your mom? Now I'm making your wish come true, so why are you crying?' she thought.
Watching Charlotte's figure disappear, Alexander clenched his fists tighter and tighter.
At this moment, Owen, who had finally stopped crying, suddenly tugged at his hand: "Dad, is Mom really angry and doesn't want me anymore?"
Alexander didn't know how to answer.
But Sabrina's eyes shifted: "Don't worry, Owen, Charlotte won't abandon you."
Owen looked up, tears still in his eyes: "Sabrina, really?"
Sabrina nodded firmly: "Charlotte's doing it on purpose, because she wants you to be jealous of her. The more jealous you are, the happier she'll be."
"Any girl would understand this."
It did seem like jealousy.
Watching the thoughtful Alexander and Owen, a gleam of satisfaction flashed in Sabrina's eyes.
On the other side, Charlotte had just turned the corner with Philip when a low-key luxury car suddenly blocked their path.
"Charlotte, Philip, get in." The noble and elegant Landon, with his long legs and slim waist, immediately attracted attention as soon as he got out of the car.
"Look, that's the real parents of this kid."
"They're such a perfect match, no wonder their kid is so good-looking."
"So envious."
Charlotte couldn't help coughing loudly.
The next moment, before she could react, she felt warmth.
The suit jacket carried Landon's distinctive cool scent. Charlotte immediately felt uncomfortable and tried to take it off and return it to Landon: "I'm not cold..."
Before she finished speaking, she sneezed loudly!
Landon frowned slightly: "Put it on. Don't catch a cold, or there'll be no one to help me take care of Philip."
Charlotte reluctantly agreed.
What Landon said did make some sense.
But was it her imagination? She seemed to see the corners of Landon's lips curve up...
Charlotte carefully tested the waters: "Aren't you busy today? How come you have time to pick up Philip?"
Landon casually turned the steering wheel with one hand. “Yeah, I haven’t had dinner with Philip in a while. I had time today, so I came.”
Charlotte immediately perked up: "Then let me get off at the intersection ahead. Just send me a message when you bring Philip back, and I'll come downstairs to get Philip."
Landon's tone was firm: "Let's eat together."
Charlotte looked hesitant.
Landon kept his eyes on the road and smiled: "If you feel awkward about it, then treat Philip and me to dinner."
Philip also hugged Charlotte's arm and acted cute: "Charlotte, come with us."
Charlotte couldn’t resist kids acting cute, so after thinking it over, she bit her lip. “Okay, then I’ll treat you to dinner as thanks for helping me last time.”
Philip clapped his hands and cheered: "Yay!"
Up front, Landon's lips curved up very quickly.
