Chapter 29
At this point, Landon deliberately paused before clicking on one of the videos and holding it up high for everyone to see: "Philip saw Charlotte standing by the pond and thought she looked beautiful, so he begged me to take a video for him."
"So I just casually filmed this..."
Landon's phone was the top international model with extremely high resolution. The footage was even clearer than a movie screen, so everyone could clearly see what happened by the pond.
In the video, Sabrina quietly approached and said a few words to Charlotte, who had been standing lost in thought by the pond.
Soon, Charlotte turned to leave, but Sabrina followed closely behind.
Several times, Sabrina nearly caught up, but Charlotte kept pulling away.
Finally, for some reason, as Sabrina was following, she suddenly tripped and fell headfirst into the pond.
From beginning to end, Charlotte never touched Sabrina...
After the video finished playing, the hospital room remained terrifyingly silent.
Landon slowly looked around and was the first to break the silence: "Now that you've seen the video, shouldn't someone apologize?"
Calvin was still somewhat reluctant: "If she didn't push Sabrina, why didn't she just explain it properly?"
Charlotte's voice turned cold: "Mr. Wallace, are you deaf or just stupid? I already said it several times - I didn't push her!"
Calvin was immediately at a loss for words: "But I..."
Suddenly, he pointed: "That's right, it was Owen who said it! He said he saw with his own eyes that Charlotte pushed Sabrina!"
Owen, who was thrown under the bus by Calvin, froze, his mouth hanging open, forgetting to speak.
Landon wasn't having it: "Owen, speak up. Why did you falsely accuse your own mother?"
Philip looked heartbroken as he squeezed Charlotte's hand tighter: "Charlotte, have they always wrongly accused you like this?"
Charlotte's eyes welled up with tears. Philip was so understanding and caring.
Seeing this scene seemed to suddenly trigger Owen, who shouted: "I didn't see it with my own eyes! But Mom always used to bully Sabrina before, so she deserves to be wrongly accused!"
"Owen, shut up!"
With one look from Alexander, Owen immediately quieted down, only daring to mutter softly: "Bad woman, I don't want you as my mom anymore."
Honestly, hearing this still caused a slight pain in Charlotte's heart, but she quickly let it go.
Since the family she'd devoted everything to didn't love her, she might as well love herself from now on.
Besides, she now had a little warm-hearted companion - Philip.
Sure enough, the next moment Philip hugged her leg: "Charlotte, don't worry, I'll protect you from now on."
Charlotte gently pinched his soft cheek: "Okay."
Seeing Charlotte being close to Philip made Owen even angrier.
Meanwhile, under Alexander's scrutinizing gaze, Sabrina's eyes gradually reddened.
Alexander: "Sabrina, why didn't you explain clearly earlier?"
Sabrina's wet lashes trembled a few times before she slowly raised her reddened eyes: "I never said Charlotte pushed me..."
"Besides, everything happened so suddenly. I was confused and had already fallen into the water."
"But it's all my fault. If I had been more clear-headed and hadn't fainted, Charlotte probably wouldn't have been wrongly accused."
"And Owen wouldn't have been scolded either."
Seeing her pitiful appearance, Alexander softened again: "Forget it, you're also a victim in this matter. We can't blame you."
Hearing that Sabrina still spoke up for him at this moment, Owen's little face showed emotion. He quickly ran over and obediently sat beside Sabrina: "Sabrina, Dad's right. You're the one who got hurt. If anyone dares to scold you, I'll beat them up for you."
After saying this, Owen even glared at Charlotte provocatively.
Charlotte completely ignored him.
Sabrina saw this and felt secretly pleased.
However, she still put on a weak and guilty expression: "Charlotte, I'm sorry..."
Charlotte remained indifferent, neither forgiving nor refusing to forgive.
Calvin couldn't help himself again: "Sabrina already apologized to you, say something..."
Before he could finish, Landon coldly interrupted: "Speaking of which, you still need to apologize."
Calvin was speechless.
Alexander gave him a look.
At the same time, feeling the cold aura emanating from Landon, Calvin finally behaved for once: "I'm sorry."
Landon let him off for now but turned his gaze to Owen: "Owen."
Landon's voice was extremely cold and low, yet Owen felt an invisible pressure from it. Rarely, he lowered his proud little head: "I'm sorry."
Charlotte gave him a cold glance, then directly took Philip's hand and walked out: "Philip, the air here isn't good. Let's go back first and take care of your wound."
Soon, the three of them disappeared without a trace.
Calvin, afraid of being blamed by Alexander, also took the opportunity to slip away.
The hospital room was instantly left with only Alexander, Owen, and Sabrina.
Sabrina whimpered: "Alexander, what should I do? Now Charlotte will forgive me even less."
"Maybe I should just go back abroad."
"If I'm going to die, I'd rather die quietly alone and never bother you again."
Alexander's eyes showed a moment of conflict, but in the end, he sighed and loosely put his arm around Sabrina's shoulder: "What nonsense are you talking? Have you forgotten? We promised back then that we'd take care of each other for life."
Sabrina was so moved that tears soaked her clothes: "Alexander, thank goodness I have you, otherwise I really wouldn't know what to do."
Owen also felt Sabrina was pitiful and hurriedly patted her back gently with his small hand: "Sabrina, you have me too. I'll protect you for life."
"Owen." Sabrina reached out and pulled Owen into her embrace.
Just in a place Alexander and Owen couldn't see, a flash of triumph quickly passed through those reddened eyes.
The next few days passed quite peacefully.
Charlotte still hadn't returned home. She stayed in the apartment with Philip, occasionally taking him to and from his therapy sessions.
Sometimes Jenna would come over and invite her and Philip out to eat.
But each time, Charlotte would quietly settle the bill in advance, because she knew Jenna was working hard to support her small shop alone. Now that she had some money, it was her turn to treat Jenna.
On the other side, because Sabrina was still very weak when discharged from the hospital, Alexander decided on the spot to bring her back to the Forbes Family to be cared for until her health fully recovered.
So Sabrina moved into the Forbes Family openly and began living day and night with Alexander and Owen.
Her days were comfortable, but it was hard on Lisa.
Before, when Charlotte was home personally taking care of Alexander and Owen's meals and daily needs, Lisa only needed to do some routine cleaning and organizing, and help Charlotte out.
Now that Charlotte wasn't there, everything fell on her alone, and she was stretched thin.
But right at this time, Sabrina moved in.
Every day, she complained that this wasn't fresh enough or that it wasn't refined enough.
These vegetables, fruits, and meats were all personally and carefully purchased by her every morning from top supermarkets... not fresh? This was simply unreasonable!
They were both daughters of the Spencer Family—Sabrina and Charlotte. How could they be so different?
Alexander even treated her like a treasure. These past few days, he'd even turned down important business dinners just to come home early to take care of her.
If he put half that effort into Charlotte, she probably wouldn't have left home.
While Lisa was secretly grumbling to herself, Sabrina, who was watching over Owen's bedside, was almost out of patience...
