Chapter 280

Chapter 280

When Cynthia got a clear look at Alexander, she let out a shocked cry: "Alexander! What are you doing?"

Facing the furious Cynthia, Charlotte merely smiled faintly. "Mrs. Forbes, please keep Mr. Forbes under control and stop him from harassing me."

"Otherwise, I can't guarantee I won't call the police next time."

Having grown accustomed to Charlotte's submissive demeanor in the past, Cynthia was infuriated to see her acting this way now.

She pointed straight at Charlotte and started berating her: "You're just some small-time designer—who do you think you are!"

"At the end of the day, you're still working for the Forbes family."

Charlotte laughed. "Working for you? You've got that wrong."

Before she could finish, Landon's voice suddenly rang out beside her: "I've already transferred fifty-one percent of Zenith Enterprises Group's shares to her!"

Cynthia and Alexander's eyes widened simultaneously.

Fifty-one percent of Zenith Enterprises Group? That had to be worth tens of billions of dollars!

How could Landon bear to part with it?

Before Alexander and Cynthia could recover from their shock, Charlotte, under Landon's protection, had already helped Jenna up and headed straight for the VIP consultation room.

Alexander seemed like a man who'd lost his soul as Cynthia supported him all the way to the emergency room.

The emergency room door was slightly ajar.

As soon as he got close, Alexander heard Sabrina's voice drifting from inside.

"What's wrong with you? I paid you all that money, and you nearly gave me away in front of Cynthia just now!"

The doctor's voice: "Ms. Spencer, I'm sorry. I was careless just now."

"Don't worry, it won't happen again."

Sabrina snorted coldly. "Remember—in a moment, wheel me back to Alexander's room."

"Then tell Alexander and Cynthia that I just fainted from being upset and emotional, but my health has actually improved. Tell them they don't need to worry about a relapse anymore."

The doctor nodded repeatedly. "Got it."

The emergency room door was suddenly shoved open!

Alexander and Cynthia stood before Sabrina.

Moments later, in Alexander's private hospital room.

Sabrina kept wiping away tears. "Alexander, let me explain. I didn't mean to deceive you."

Alexander remained silent, his expression frighteningly dark.

Cynthia, however, let out a cold laugh from the side. "Oh, so you didn't mean to? Poor you, feeling so wronged."

Sabrina paid no attention to Cynthia's sarcasm. "Mrs. Forbes, you're right—I actually wanted to surprise you both! That's why I kept my recovery a secret until now."

At that moment, Alexander suddenly spoke in a heavy tone: "Sabrina, did you ever actually have the illness?"

That single question drained the color from Sabrina's face.

But she quickly covered it up, putting on an expression of being wrongly accused. "Alexander, didn't you already verify all this?"

"Actually, if you still don't believe me, you can check with overseas specialists again."

"That way, you won't doubt me anymore."

With that, Sabrina quickly pulled out her phone and, right in front of them, dialed the number of that renowned foreign specialist from before.

To make them believe her, she even put it on speaker.

"Hello, it's me, Sabrina."

A middle-aged man's voice came through. "Ms. Spencer, please don't contact me again. I won't help you lie and deceive people anymore."

Sabrina's face went pale, but it was too late to hang up. "What are you talking about? Have you forgotten—"

The middle-aged man's voice carried mockery. "Ms. Spencer, take care of yourself. Don't contact me again."

The call was unceremoniously disconnected!

The hospital room fell terribly silent.

After a long while, Alexander's voice finally rang out slowly: "Now, do you have anything else to say?"

Cynthia finally snapped back to reality. "You horrible woman—look what you've done to Alexander!"

With that, Cynthia moved to strike Sabrina.

But Sabrina stood up instead, laughing coldly. "Hit me? Do you know who my biological father is?"

Cynthia froze. "Who? Isn't it just Charles, that man who abandoned his wife and daughter to marry his mistress?"

Sabrina's laugh turned sinister. "Wrong. Charles was just the patsy my mother found to take the fall."

"My real biological father is the president of the overseas Carter Group!"

Cynthia was stunned.

The Carter Group? She'd heard of it—an organization far more powerful than the Forbes Group.

Seeing Cynthia's frightened expression, Sabrina smiled triumphantly. "When I first went abroad, my dad found me."

"He even wanted to bring my mother overseas so we could be a family of three."

"But right before we left, Charles discovered everything. During the chase, there was a collision that killed my mother!"

"So Charlotte is my enemy!"

Cynthia was dumbfounded, her body going weak on the spot. "You're terrifying."

She turned to Alexander. "Alexander, you can't marry this woman."

But before Alexander could speak, Sabrina cut in first, her tone even carrying a hint of threat: "Not marry me? But the wedding announcement has already been made public."

"If Alexander doesn't marry me, don't blame my father for being ruthless."

"Hmph. With the Forbes Group in its current state, if my father makes a move, you'll go bankrupt immediately."

Cynthia's face turned ashen.

Then Alexander finally spoke: "You're talking about Joseph Morris, the president of the Carter Group?"

With her lies completely exposed, Sabrina stopped pretending and laughed coldly. "Smart of you."

But Alexander's tone shifted. "Funny—I heard the Carter Group is actually his wife's family business?"

A flash of discomfort crossed Sabrina's face.

But she quickly recovered. "So what? As long as he holds real power, that's all that matters."

"Real power? You sure about that?" Alexander picked up his phone and casually sent her a link. "Here's some breaking news about the Carter Group. You should take a good look."

Having been busy with wedding preparations lately, Sabrina hadn't found a chance to contact Joseph.

And after that incident overseas, Joseph had warned her repeatedly not to call him unless necessary.

Though she didn't quite believe anything could go wrong with the Carter Group, a suspicious Sabrina still opened the link as instructed.
