Chapter 278
Chapter 278
Hearing the nurse's startled cry, Charlotte finally noticed the bloodstain on Lucas's wrist again.
In the earlier chaos, she'd assumed it was Calvin's blood from when Lucas beat him up. But now, thinking back carefully, it must have been from when he shielded Jenna from the knife.
At the same time, Jenna also panicked when she realized Lucas had been injured protecting her, losing all her earlier fire. "You idiot! Why didn't you say you were hurt?"
Seeing Jenna getting worked up again, Lucas quickly pressed her back down while reassuring her repeatedly, "Please don't get upset. I'll go get it bandaged right now."
Watching them, Charlotte couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her lips.
Looked like she'd need to prepare a congratulatory gift soon.
Meanwhile, Sabrina had just stepped out of the beauty salon when someone wearing a face mask blocked her path.
She was about to cry out when the person spoke in a low voice, "Sabrina, it's me!"
"Calvin? How dare you come looking for me?"
Sabrina gasped as she stumbled back several steps.
Lucas had already filed a police report immediately.
Learning it was a public assault case, and given that the Wallace Family had already fallen from grace, the police department issued an arrest warrant right away.
Calvin was no longer the wealthy heir he once was—now he was a fugitive on the run.
Seeing Sabrina frightened by him, Calvin quickly waved his hands. "Sabrina, don't be scared! I would never hurt you."
Only then did Sabrina steady herself, demanding, "Then what are you doing here? Don't you know the situation you're in?"
Calvin's eyes reddened. "I know. That's exactly why I had no choice but to come find you—I need to borrow some money to get away."
It took all of Calvin's courage to state his purpose for seeking out Sabrina, yet his heart felt more agonizing than if someone had killed him.
To think that he'd once been a prominent figure in River City, only to fall to such a pathetic state. It was all Charlotte's fault!
Next time, he'd definitely find a chance to kill her!
Across from him, Sabrina visibly relaxed after hearing his purpose, her expression shifting from panic to arrogance.
"You want money? Why don't you go ask Alexander?"
Calvin's voice dropped. "Alexander's been at the company these past few days, or meeting with clients. There are too many people there, plus security. I don't dare go."
Sabrina let out a contemptuous snort. "Coward."
Calvin's head snapped up, seemingly unable to believe Sabrina had just insulted him.
But Sabrina only rolled her eyes at him. "What are you staring at? Take the money and get lost!"
With that, she casually pulled out a stack of bills from her purse and flung them in Calvin's face!
"What are you standing there for? Are you trying to drag me down with you? Idiot, take the money and leave!"
Watching Sabrina curse at him nonstop, Calvin's eyes gradually reddened.
But he said nothing more, only slowly crouched down and picked up the bills one by one.
Watching this scene, Sabrina couldn't help her disgust.
Looked like she shouldn't go out often these days. Even if she did, she'd need to bring a couple of bodyguards so this idiot Calvin couldn't come looking for her again.
Just as Calvin finished collecting the money and was about to turn and leave, a figure suddenly charged forward!
Lucas tackled Calvin to the ground and swung his fist. "Calvin! You actually dared to hurt Jenna! Let me teach you a lesson!"
On the other side, Sabrina screamed at the sight and ran straight back into the beauty salon.
Calvin struggled and protested while trying to explain, "I didn't mean to! The person I wanted to kill was Charlotte!"
Lucas paused, but the next moment still threw a punch!
"You wanted to kill Charlotte? Do you even know who saved you back then?"
"It was Charlotte!"
Calvin was fighting back with all his strength when he suddenly heard Charlotte's name and froze. "Charlotte? Impossible! The person who saved me back then was Sabrina!"
But Lucas took the opportunity to land another punch to his face. "Idiot! Sabrina didn't even dare come over. She pulled the other classmates away with her."
"Charlotte was the one who rushed over to stop me. She almost got hurt by me by accident."
"Calvin, you ungrateful fool! I'll beat you to death!"
Hearing this, Calvin suddenly stopped resisting. "So I had it wrong all along."
Lucas was about to drag Calvin to the police station when two security guards suddenly rushed out from the beauty salon and started trying to restrain him without asking questions.
After a scuffle, Lucas finally got a chance to explain the situation, and the two guards stopped.
Only then did Lucas realize that Calvin, who had been lying on the ground, had long since vanished.
That evening, Vincent had just gotten out of his car, swaying unsteadily after leaving a drinking party, and was about to enter the building where his mistress lived.
Suddenly, someone lunged out from the darkness and dragged him into the shrubs along the green path!
"Don't make a sound! I just want to ask you one question."
Vincent sobered up three degrees from fright and nodded frantically. "Okay, as long as you don't hurt me, ask whatever you want."
The person lowered their voice. "Fine. Three months ago, you told Calvin that Charlotte had people targeting him behind his back. Was that true or false?"
"Speak! Or don't blame me for what happens!"
Vincent felt something cold against his abdomen, like a blade pressed firmly there.
His heart jumped as cold sweat broke out.
"I'll talk, I'll talk!"
"That's right, it was Charlotte—"
The blade suddenly pressed harder. "Still trying to lie to me?"
Hearing the threatening tone, Vincent finally cracked, his voice breaking. "I'll come clean—it was Sabrina."
"Sabrina, the Design Director at the Forbes Group?"
Vincent nodded. "Yes, that's her!"
"She gave me benefits to tip off Calvin, to say that Charlotte was the one who had people harm him."
The person tightened their grip and knocked Vincent unconscious!
After dumping Vincent on the ground, the person slowly adjusted their cap—it was clearly Calvin.
His eyes had long since turned red. "Sabrina, just how much more don't I know about you?"
Alexander had been exhausted lately, but the Forbes Group's business kept declining relentlessly!
Physically and mentally drained, he simply accepted an invitation to a drinking party, treating it as a chance to unwind.
When the gathering finally ended, he was heading to his car with a slight buzz when someone suddenly rushed up beside him and called out quietly, "Alexander."
Calvin!
Alexander instantly sobered up.
He grabbed Calvin's hand. "Calvin, where have you been hiding all these days? Why didn't you find a way to get word to me?"
Calvin, who'd been anxious and restless for days, finally heard a warm word and his eyes immediately reddened.
Alexander was still his true friend.
This made him all the more determined to expose Sabrina's crimes—he absolutely would not allow his good friend to keep being deceived by this vicious woman!
Calvin's tone was urgent. "Alexander, listen to me first."
"Sabrina's not a good person! You need to be careful of her!"
