Chapter 188
Charlotte thought carefully: "If Jenna goes, then I'll go."
She had never been one to join in the fun, but after all these years without seeing her high school classmates, she was still a bit tempted.
"Then I'll come pick you and Jenna up when the time comes." Seeing Charlotte finally agree, Jordan felt secretly excited.
Almost at the same time, at the Forbes Group.
Sabrina had just finished packing up her things and was about to go to the CEO's office to wait for Alexander to go home together when her phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at it: "Calvin, what's up?"
Calvin's voice sounded a bit irritated: "Sabrina, Lucas is back."
At the mention of Lucas, distant memories suddenly flooded into Sabrina's mind like a tide.
Her expression changed slightly: "Lucas? You'd better not mess with him."
"If it weren't for you, he almost beat me to death back then."
Calvin's words were full of resentment: "And this time it's not me messing with him, it's him messing with me."
Sabrina's heart tightened: "He came looking for you?"
Calvin scoffed: "If he dared to come looking for me, I would've put him in the hospital already."
"He had someone call me, saying he's organizing a class reunion at The Sovereign Mirage in a few days and invited me to come."
"What do you think he means? Does he want to make peace or start trouble? Either way, I'm not afraid."
Hearing Calvin's passionate declaration, Sabrina was so anxious that a fine layer of sweat appeared on the tip of her nose: "Calvin, I think you shouldn't go. What if—"
"There's no 'what if'!" Calvin rarely refused to listen to Sabrina's advice. "If I don't go, doesn't that make it obvious I'm afraid of him? I can't accept that."
"By the way, I just wanted to ask if you want to come along? If you're not going, I'll just go by myself."
Sabrina frowned, looking conflicted: "Calvin, can you really not skip it? I'll worry about you."
But Calvin seemed to have made up his mind: "Sabrina, I'll listen to you about everything else, but I can't not go to this."
Sabrina's heart was pounding, her head felt a bit dizzy, and her throat was very dry.
Finally, she bit her lip: "Since you insist on going, then I'll go with you."
"But once we're there, you have to listen to me. If you don't agree, I won't go. And I'll tell Alexander and have him forbid you from going."
Hearing Sabrina bring up Alexander, Calvin immediately felt a headache coming on: "Fine, I promise, okay? Just please don't tell Alexander."
That evening, at Forbes Estate.
After dinner, Alexander instructed Lisa to bring the medicine for Sabrina to take.
After giving the instruction, he looked at Sabrina again: "What's wrong? Are you worried the medicine won't work?"
He had already noticed earlier that Sabrina seemed preoccupied and even a bit absent-minded when speaking.
However, he assumed Sabrina was worried about her health, worried whether Oliver's medicine would really be effective.
But Sabrina seemed lost in thought. It wasn't until Alexander asked a second time that she snapped back to reality and forced a smile: "Yes, after all, this medicine isn't cheap. It would be a waste if it doesn't work."
"Don't worry." Alexander looked at Sabrina earnestly and reached out to cover the back of her hand. "As long as it can cure your illness, I'm willing to spend any amount of money."
Sabrina's long lashes trembled, and she finally slowly looked up, her face full of gratitude: "Alexander, you're so good to me."
Lisa coughed heavily twice and walked over with the medicine.
Alexander withdrew his hand, took the medicine from Lisa, and handed it to Sabrina: "Sabrina, Oliver said this medicine must be taken on time every day, otherwise its effectiveness will be greatly reduced. Come on, drink the medicine."
Looking at the thick medicinal liquid in front of her, Sabrina almost threw up!
What kind of medicine did Oliver prescribe for her? How could it stink like this?
Beside her, worried that Sabrina's refusal to take the medicine would delay her treatment, Alexander urged her earnestly again.
Sabrina understood that not drinking the medicine was impossible.
So she took the medicine and closed her eyes!
She gulped it down in big mouthfuls.
The medicinal liquid was thick and bitter, even more disgusting than sewage from a gutter. Sabrina's tears came streaming out as she drank it.
She quickly stuffed a prepared candy into her mouth and pressed it against her tongue, barely managing to keep from vomiting the medicine back up.
Too bitter, too smelly!
If it weren't for creating an excuse for her illness to be cured, even if they killed her, she wouldn't drink a single sip of this medicine.
Almost at the same time, Charlotte received a call from Oliver.
"Charlotte, guess whether Sabrina drank the medicine or not?"
Hearing the mischief in Oliver's voice, Charlotte chuckled softly: "Don't worry! She'll definitely drink it."
"Even if she doesn't want to, Alexander will make sure she does."
After learning that Sabrina was faking her illness, to prevent her from not drinking the medicine or throwing it away after getting it, Oliver had specifically called Alexander after consulting with Charlotte.
On the phone, he had solemnly warned Alexander that the medicine must be taken on time every day without interruption! Otherwise, the medicine wouldn't work, and the consequences would be on him.
In Oliver's view, given Alexander's level of concern for Sabrina, it was easy to guess that over the next few days, he would definitely make sure Sabrina took her medicine every day.
So when Oliver heard Charlotte's words, he also hummed proudly twice: "Want to know what I put in her medicine?"
"Tell me quickly." When it came to Sabrina, Charlotte had absolutely no sympathy whatsoever.
If she weren't afraid of breaking the law, she would even want to use poison.
Oliver's voice rang out proudly again: "I added a little castor oil to her medicine, and also—"
"Also what?" Seeing Oliver deliberately keeping her in suspense, Charlotte very cooperatively asked.
"Guess."
Charlotte frowned: "You didn't add those slugs from the yard, did you?"
In Charlotte's mind, for girls, slimy bugs were probably the most disgusting things.
But Oliver flatly denied it: "Those slugs are precious—they're for experiments. How could I bear to use them on her?"
Charlotte: "I can't guess."
