Chapter 137

Chapter 137

With time running out, Charlotte immediately signed the contract.

When it was Landon's turn to sign, Charlotte stood beside him, leaning in slightly to watch.

Her faint jasmine scent was like a thin morning mist rising in the mountains, gradually seeping into Landon's heart without him noticing.

The pen tip moved across the paper, then suddenly stopped, leaving a small black dot on the page.

Charlotte didn't notice anything unusual. Instead, she stared at the handwriting on the paper, lost in thought. "Landon, have you practiced calligraphy? Your handwriting is really beautiful."

Landon paused slightly. "You've never seen my handwriting before?"

Charlotte shook her head gently. "No, but your handwriting does look a bit like Alexander's."

At the mention of Alexander, Landon pressed his lips together.

But he quickly noticed that her expression didn't change when she mentioned Alexander. It seemed she had truly moved on.

He couldn't help testing the waters. "Didn't you know that I was the one who taught Alexander how to write?"

Charlotte found it hard to believe. "But you're only three years older than him—"

Meeting Landon's half-smiling gaze, Charlotte's voice cut off abruptly.

A mere three years might not mean much for ordinary people.

But for Landon, who had been called a genius since childhood, it was enough for him to leave other kids far behind, including Alexander.

After signing the contract, Jenna's eye stopped twitching.

Having received such a huge favor from Landon, Charlotte should have invited him to dinner to show her gratitude. But she was in a hurry to update her studio's registered address with the government office, so she briefly explained the situation and said she'd treat him to dinner later before preparing to leave.

Unexpectedly, Landon stopped her. "Leave this small matter to my assistant."

Seeing Charlotte's confused look, he added, "He knows people at the government offices well, and he's pretty free right now with nothing much to do."

Charlotte immediately looked at the assistant.

The assistant quickly forced a smile. "Yes, I know people at those offices very well, and I don't have much to do right now, so you can leave it to me without worry."

After saying these insincere words, the assistant groaned inwardly. He still had a pile of work to do! It looked like he'd be working until dawn again tonight!

Damn capitalist!

"Well, thank you so much." Charlotte took him at his word and immediately handed over the prepared documents.

The assistant smiled as he took them, but the moment he turned around, his smile disappeared.

His phone buzzed with a message: [Your bonus is doubled this month]

The assistant smiled, straightened his back, and strode out confidently.

Capitalists could actually be pretty nice sometimes.

Just past noon, Charlotte received a call from Landon saying the address change had been completed and asking her to come downstairs to pick up the new certificate.

At that moment, Charlotte was incredibly grateful for her morning decision.

If she had insisted on handling it herself, it would have taken until tomorrow at the earliest.

She rushed downstairs right away.

The person who delivered the certificate was Landon's assistant.

After handing over the certificate, the assistant insisted on taking Charlotte to the Design Association to resubmit the documents, saying it was Landon's order and that he wouldn't need to come back to work if he didn't do it.

Charlotte had no choice but to agree.

When they arrived at the Design Association, the staff member in charge of registration could hardly believe their eyes.

This was originally a made-up excuse by higher-ups to deliberately make things difficult for Charlotte, because they didn't believe she could get everything done in just two days.

But surprisingly, Charlotte had managed to handle everything in just half a day, without a single flaw for them to pick at.

What should they do now?

The staff member hesitated for a moment, then decided to report the situation to Paul.

"Um, wait here for a moment. I'll go ask my supervisor."

"But didn't I complete all the documents?" Charlotte was puzzled and was about to stop the staff member, but they had already scurried away.

Charlotte felt more and more that something was wrong.

She had clearly resolved all the issues they'd pointed out, so why did they still need to consult their supervisor? It seemed things really weren't simple.

Beside her, the assistant had also seen the situation clearly.

Just then Charlotte came back and said it probably wouldn't be resolved quickly, telling him to go back first so it wouldn't delay his work.

After the assistant left as instructed, he immediately called Landon as soon as he got in the car.

After hearing what the assistant had to say, Landon, who was in the middle of an international video conference, ended the meeting early without a word.

Right after that, he dialed a phone number.

Design Association office building.

Charlotte waited for quite a while before seeing the staff member hurry back.

"Ms. Spencer, I'm sorry, but you still don't meet our competition's registration requirements."

Charlotte's expression froze.

After a long moment, she suppressed her emotions and asked slowly, "May I ask what the reason is this time?"

The staff member hemmed and hawed. "My supervisor said something about your education not being sufficient."

Charlotte's face turned cold. "If that's the case, why didn't you mention this problem this morning?"

"Also, I read the competition notice before registering. I completely meet the registration requirements."

"So you have no reason to refuse my registration for the competition."

The staff member looked embarrassed. "My supervisor said no means no!"

"If you keep making trouble, I'll call security."

Seeing them getting angry from embarrassment, Charlotte simply sat down in a chair. "Fine, I'll wait right here."

The staff member got angry too and shouted, "Security! Security!"

Immediately, two security guards from the entrance charged over!
