Chapter 134

Chapter 134

"Charlotte? I didn't expect you'd still be in the mood to eat out?" As soon as they met, Calvin started mocking Charlotte sarcastically.

Jenna naturally wasn't going to back down. She stepped in front of Charlotte and shot back: "You really are dedicated to your job, aren't you?"

Calvin's face darkened: "Jenna, what do you mean by that?"

Jenna glanced at him dismissively: "No time to waste on you. Move aside."

Calvin ground his teeth: "I can't be bothered arguing with a woman like you."

Just as Jenna was about to retort, Calvin had already started barking at Charlotte: "Charlotte, I know you're jealous of Sabrina, but do you really need to be this vicious?"

Charlotte was confused: "Calvin, what are you talking about?"

Jenna rolled up her sleeves beside her: "Calvin, keep spouting nonsense and I'll smash that mouth of yours!"

But Calvin just stared at Charlotte and snorted coldly: "Still pretending?"

"You're the one who bad-mouthed Sabrina to Jordan, right?"

"And asking that clinic doctor to help treat Sabrina's health would be easy for you. But you just won't agree."

"I know what you're thinking—you're hoping Sabrina dies soon so you can go back to the Forbes Family and be their precious Mrs. Forbes again!"

"Charlotte, I'm warning you, don't be so vicious. Karma will get you."

Jenna couldn't take it anymore. She put her hands on her hips and spat: "If karma's coming for anyone, it'll hit you first!"

"And for the record, whoever wants to go to the Forbes Family can go! Charlotte doesn't care about it!"

Calvin wasn't backing down: "Fine! Charlotte, if you're really capable, don't play any tricks when you officially file for divorce in four days. Just divorce Alexander already!"

Hearing this, Charlotte actually laughed in anger.

She pulled Jenna behind her and smiled at Calvin: "I've noticed you really have an interesting way of talking."

Calvin's neck swelled with rage.

Charlotte glanced at him coolly: "Go back and tell Sabrina that if she has something to say, she should come talk to me directly. Tell her to stop hiding behind you like a coward.”

Calvin exploded with anger.

Always hot-tempered, he lost his cool and raised his hand on the spot: "Charlotte, today I'll teach you what happens when you cross me!"

Seeing the slap about to land on Charlotte's face, Jenna, unable to rush forward in time, cried out: "Charlotte, watch out!"

The assault was too sudden to evade. Charlotte squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the impact.

"Ah!"

"Let go!"

Two cries of pain rang out. Charlotte opened her eyes in confusion.

Landon, looking distinguished and elegant, was now standing in front of her, his face cold as he gripped Calvin's wrist tightly.

Jenna had moved closer, looking gleeful: "Serves you right!"

She lowered her voice: "I really didn't expect Mr. Landon Forbes to be so skilled! He neutralized that crazy Calvin in one move."

Before Charlotte could respond, Calvin was already in too much pain to bear, begging repeatedly: "Mr. Forbes, it hurts..."

Only then did Landon release him with disgust, throwing him aside forcefully: "Bullying women? Get lost."

How could Calvin dare provoke Landon?

He immediately fled as if pardoned, not even daring to look back once.

At this point, Landon took out a handkerchief and wiped each finger clean with obvious distaste.

After casually tossing the handkerchief to his assistant, he looked up and smiled at Charlotte and Jenna: "What a coincidence."

The assistant secretly rolled his eyes, thinking, 'What coincidence? He rushed over right after finishing his paperwork just to create this "chance encounter."'

Meanwhile, Jenna's eyes were full of excitement: "Mr. Forbes, that was amazing."

Landon's attractive eyes curved into a smile: "It's nothing. A man should have the ability to protect his woman."

Jenna was even more impressed: "Whoever marries you in the future will be so lucky."

Landon smiled and glanced at Charlotte subtly: "Do you think so?"

Seeing Jenna's starstruck expression, Charlotte's face reddened slightly: "Landon, Jenna just speaks without thinking. Please don't mind her."

"But thank you anyway."

Meeting her bright eyes, Landon couldn't help being momentarily dazed.

But he quickly recovered and raised an eyebrow toward the restaurant entrance: “If you truly wish to thank me, you’re in luck—I haven’t eaten yet.”

Before Charlotte could speak, Jenna had already blurted out: "But we just ate and we're really full."

Landon hid his disappointment and replied: "Another time then."

"Sure, see you later."

With that, Jenna, eager to go shopping with Charlotte, quickly dragged her away.

As soon as they turned around, the smile in Landon's eyes slowly faded.

He beckoned his assistant over and lowered his voice: "Jenna's shop is on that street I own, right?"

The assistant nodded: "Yes."

But in his heart, he was silently praying for Jenna.

Daring to take Charlotte away from Landon—Jenna better watch out.

Landon's voice came again, even cooler: "Starting next month, double the rent."

Wasn't this clearly forcing Jenna to move out?

And in all of River City, where else could she find such a good location?

Though he felt bad for Jenna, the assistant didn't dare say anything: "Alright."

Poor Jenna had no idea disaster was about to strike and kept chattering away.

"Charlotte, your judgment back then was really terrible!"

"Landon is perfect—handsome and can fight. How did you end up choosing that jerk Alexander!"

Charlotte's heart tightened and she quickly shushed her: "Keep your voice down, don't let others hear."

But the warning seemed too late, as the words had already drifted to Landon's ears on the wind.

He paused slightly, turned his head, and called back his assistant who was about to leave: "Wait."

The assistant respectfully turned back: "Mr. Forbes, is there something else?"

Landon thoughtfully stroked his chin: "Don't raise the rent. Change it to rent-free for one year—no, three years."

The assistant wondered if he'd heard wrong.

Just moments ago he wanted to raise the rent to drive her out, and now he's saying three years rent-free?

Landon didn't even look at him, just continued giving instructions: "Find a good reason later so Jenna doesn't get suspicious."

The assistant bowed: "Understood, sir."

Jenna had no idea that in just a few minutes, her fate had completely changed.

That afternoon, when she parted with Charlotte and returned to her shop, the staff excitedly gathered around her.

"Congratulations! Congratulations!"

Jenna looked confused: "Congratulations? Is there some good news I don't know about?"

A staff member handed her a notice stamped with a bright red seal: "You're going to be rich!"

"The landlord of this street had something happy happen in their family, so they held a lottery in their good mood. They said whoever won could get three years of free rent."

"And guess what—they picked you!"

Another staff member chimed in: "Out of all the shops on this whole street, they picked yours! Jenna, you're going to have great luck this year!"

"Really?" Jenna couldn't believe it and read the notice over and over, word by word.

It was true!

This was the most prosperous commercial street in River City. Although her shop wasn't in the best location, the monthly rent was still 110,000.

And now they were giving her three years rent-free!

She needed to calculate exactly how much rent she was being exempted from.

But Jenna was too excited.

Her fingers trembled as she tried to count several times, but she still couldn't figure out the total for three years.

Finally, she just gave up. Whatever! Today was too lucky! She had to celebrate with a good meal no matter what!

"Tonight I'm taking you all out for a feast!"

...

"What? Treat me to a nice meal to cheer me up?" Calvin huffed and waved his hand: "Won't work!"

Watching Calvin, who was clearly very upset, Sabrina's eyes sparkled with scheming.
