Chapter 106
Seeing Alexander and Owen's expressions, Sabrina felt a wave of unease.
She had gone through so much trouble to finally get Charlotte divorced from Alexander. Now that they were just one step from the goal, nothing could be allowed to go wrong.
She softened her expression and turned to Owen. "Owen, you're Charlotte's whole world. How could she bear to leave you?"
"Don't worry. Everything she's done has been to make you regret pushing her away — to make you come back to her on your knees."
Owen looked up with reddened eyes. "Sabrina, is that really true?"
Sabrina nodded seriously. "Of course it's true."
"Charlotte and I grew up the same way—no one else to rely on. I know her better than anyone. Everything she does is to make sure neither of you ever lets her go."
Owen's eyes widened. Is Mom really that kind of person? Is she truly that heartless?
Hearing this, Something shifted in Alexander's expression.
Sabrina noticed and felt frustrated inside.
But she didn't show it. She still smiled as she corrected Owen, "Owen, you can't say that about Charlotte."
"She just loves you and Dad too much, so she's trying every way to make you give in."
"Once she realises nothing is working, she'll come back on her own."
As Sabrina spoke, she stole glances at Alexander.
Seeing him gradually relax his brow with a look of understanding, she finally felt relieved.
Cynthia, however, was still unwilling to let it go. She cursed Charlotte for not even caring about her own son, saying she should never think about returning to the Forbes Family.
Alexander frowned as he listened, then pulled Cynthia aside. "Mom, Owen is still here. It's not good for you to curse Charlotte in front of him."
But Cynthia scoffed. "You're already divorced anyway. Why are you still protecting her?"
Alexander showed a hint of disapproval. "Mom, you should stop interfering in my business with Charlotte."
Cynthia's eyes widened. "What? Are you still thinking about remarrying her?"
Alexander's eyes were deep. "That's not impossible. Charlotte is just throwing a tantrum."
Cynthia felt a surge of frustration. "Are you blind? Didn't you see how heartless she looked just now?"
But Alexander seemed thoughtful. "Sabrina just said Charlotte is throwing a tantrum."
Charlotte had loved him for so many years—how could she just give up like that?
No matter how heartless she seemed just now, it must have been an act.
On the other side, quietly listening to Alexander and Cynthia's argument, a shadow flashed across Sabrina's face.
When leaving the kindergarten, because Alexander had an urgent matter, Sabrina and Owen got into Cynthia's car.
Back at Forbes Estate, as they got out, Cynthia called Sabrina over.
The two went to a secluded spot.
Only then did Cynthia speak slowly. "Miss Spencer, although you've gained some fame in the design world now, if you came back for Alexander, I suggest you don't waste your breath."
"Alexander could never marry a woman like you."
Looking at Cynthia's warning expression, Sabrina was furious inside, but her face remained innocent. "Mrs. Forbes, my feelings for Alexander are genuine."
A flash of disgust crossed Cynthia's eyes. "Genuine? Aren't you afraid I'll tell Alexander the truth about why you went abroad back then?"
Sabrina's eyes flickered, quickly showing a hurt expression. "Mrs. Forbes, actually I was prepared to face hardship with Alexander back then. Even without money, I would have loved him just the same."
"But later my dad found out and tricked me into going abroad under the pretense of an Aurora College interview, then had people watch over me."
"When I tried to escape, I even injured my arm and spent a whole month in the hospital. If you don't believe me, you can check my hospital records from abroad."
Looking at Sabrina's emotional performance, Cynthia was half-convinced.
Still, she warned Sabrina, "No matter what, you voluntarily gave up Alexander back then, so as long as I'm around, you'll never marry Alexander."
Facing Cynthia's warning, Sabrina was so livid she could have ground her teeth to powder.
But she still smiled meekly. "Mrs. Forbes, please rest assured."
"I returned for two reasons: to recover my health and to make amends."
"As long as I can help Alexander improve the Forbes Group, I'll be satisfied. I have no other intentions."
Cynthia glared at her. "You better mean what you say."
With that, Cynthia turned and got in her car.
Watching the car pull away, Sabrina slowly unclenched her shaking fists.
In her palms were deep nail marks.
Back then, it was clearly Cynthia who deliberately leaked the arranged marriage truth to Sabrina, but now she wanted to pin everything on Sabrina? And stop her from marrying Alexander?
'In your dreams! Alexander—I must have him!' Sabrina thought.
Downstairs at Charlotte's apartment building.
Watching Charlotte enter the building with Philip, Landon slowly withdrew his gaze.
"Does Calvin still have the energy to cause trouble? It seems his family's situation hasn't reached its breaking point yet."
"Go find out who's still backing him."
His assistant responded obediently.
Before leaving, Landon glanced up at the building again. This time, he absolutely wouldn't let go.
At the Wallace Family home, evening.
Calvin never expected that the kindergarten parent-child competition he livestreamed today would go viral.
Not only in the livestream room, but videos of the competition were being shared all over the internet, with wave after wave of controversy.
Calvin was filled with regret.
He had wanted to embarrass Charlotte, but instead ended up doing her a huge favor. In a mere twelve hours, Charlotte had become an overnight internet sensation.
You have to understand, nearly half of River City's entertainment industry was controlled by the Wallace Family.
Back then, the posts that led to Charlotte being cyberbullied were released by people he hired.
Then he had people spread the news that Sabrina and Alexander were first loves, embellishing it and misleading batch after batch of netizens.
But now, after he mobilized all his resources to finally suppress the parent-child competition video from trending, it instead sparked even greater interest among netizens, who began digging deeper on their own.
By the time Calvin realized what was happening, it was too late—the posts had even gone viral abroad.
What he didn't expect even more was that this incident would even affect Sabrina.
