Chapter 100
Alexander fell silent.
Because he had never seen Charlotte look so stunning and dazzling before.
Although he had known since they were very young that Charlotte was beautiful, and he really enjoyed being with her. He had even secretly thought about marrying her when they grew up.
But then Sabrina came along.
Because of Charlotte, he disliked Sabrina from the start.
But one time, he accidentally came across an injured Sabrina. Calvin, who had once saved his life, was by her side.
Calvin swore to him with fervent intensity, insisting that Charlotte had orchestrated a campaign with her classmates to systematically bully Sabrina at school.
At first, he didn't believe it. He even wanted to bring Sabrina and Calvin to confront Charlotte.
But Sabrina cried, begging him not to make a big deal out of it. She said she still wanted to get along with Charlotte and didn't want Charlotte to be scolded by their father.
Alexander was stunned, because it was the first time he had seen a girl cry so pitifully in front of him...
The daughters of wealthy families he knew were all quite tough due to their upbringing and would never easily show weakness in front of others.
Even Charlotte, when her mother passed away, had only found a corner to cry quietly by herself.
But Sabrina in front of him was crying so helplessly. So somehow, his heart softened.
And then it softened again and again.
At some point, he gradually started siding with Sabrina, feeling that Charlotte was too harsh in her actions and not understanding enough.
Nearby, Sabrina had been secretly watching Alexander.
Seeing Alexander staring at the stage in a daze, the jealousy and hatred in her heart almost couldn't be hidden.
Why!
The dress had clearly been ruined by her, so how could Charlotte still create such a stunning effect in such a short time?
Could hereditary talent really be that strong?
She refused to accept it!
She had poured every ounce of her strength into the climb, sacrificing pieces of herself along the way to finally reach her current position.
Although she wouldn't claim to be a world-class master, among River City's young generation of designers, she was definitely top-tier.
So she had always been proud and confident, while also looking down on Charlotte.
What good was being prettier than her and marrying into the Forbes Family through an arranged marriage? Wasn't she just completely reduced to being the Forbes Family's baby-making machine and free nanny?
She came back this time to crush Charlotte in every way.
She wanted Alexander to be amazed by her, and she wanted to personally watch Charlotte feel inferior, suffer, and even feel ashamed...
And today, according to plan, was her perfect opportunity to publicly humiliate and defeat Charlotte.
But now, Charlotte had actually won.
Sabrina felt like she was falling apart inside.
She couldn't lose, especially not to Charlotte!
Finally, under pressure from the audience, Quentin raised his sign: 99.8 points.
When the score was revealed, the venue erupted in surprise.
Earlier, when Sabrina's group performed, Quentin had given them 99.9 points without hesitation.
But when it came to Charlotte's group, he only gave 99.8 points. Everyone could tell what was going on.
Even the other two judges exchanged glances and shook their heads slightly.
Fortunately, after combining all three judges' scores, Charlotte's group's final score was 99.9 points, first place!
The venue erupted in thunderous cheers!
Charlotte calmly took Philip's hand and bowed deeply to the audience below, then walked off the stage gracefully, ready to meet up with Jenna.
But as soon as she left the stage, she stopped.
Because someone was standing in the middle of the passage.
Alexander.
The handsome, aloof man stood there quietly, one hand in his pocket.
Behind his glasses, his deep dark eyes were shining with an unusual light, staring at her without blinking.
Charlotte had never seen such a look from him before.
However, she didn't care about it anymore.
Philip looked at Alexander, then at Charlotte, and said very obediently: "Charlotte, I'll go find Dad first. Come find me after you finish talking."
Charlotte smiled gently, "Okay, I'll come find you in a bit."
The whole time, Alexander kept watching Charlotte without saying a word.
Only after Philip left did he speak. "Can we talk?"
"Sure."
Charlotte's voice was crisp and decisive, without any hesitation.
Because no matter what, she absolutely had to get her mother's watch back.
No matter what Alexander said, she would never back down.
If they dared to go back on their word, that was fine too, because she had already prepared countermeasures in advance.
Although the last video incident had been suppressed, if they dared to renege, she wouldn't mind putting them on trending topics again!
However, Alexander’s first words were a sharp deviation from the lecture Charlotte had braced herself for, catching her completely off guard.
"You know design?"
Alexander's voice was low, and the emotions in his eyes as he looked at her were filled with something Charlotte couldn't understand.
In the past, she might have racked her brains to figure it out.
But now, she didn't want to understand anymore.
So she directly admitted: "Yes."
Looking at Charlotte's frank expression, Alexander's eyes deepened: "Why didn't you ever mention it to me?"
"Didn't I?" A hint of mockery appeared in Charlotte's eyes. "I mentioned it more than once in the letters I wrote you before. I guess you were too busy to even read them."
Alexander fell silent.
He indeed had never read the letters Charlotte mentioned.
Because back then he was always with Sabrina, and whenever he received letters from Charlotte, he could sense that Sabrina was a bit unhappy. He guessed she was probably remembering when Charlotte had bullied her.
So to make Sabrina happy, he had thrown the unopened letters directly into the trash without any reluctance.
Looking at the silent man in front of her, Charlotte didn't want to waste any more words with him and got straight to the point: "Now that the scores and rankings are out, according to our agreement, Sabrina needs to return the watch to me."
"You're not going to go back on your word, are you?"
The bet should really be settled with Sabrina, but Charlotte knew that Alexander was Sabrina's biggest supporter and backer.
Without his favoritism, how could Sabrina have the ability to cause trouble in River City?
But this man happened to be her husband.
How ironic.
Hearing Charlotte's words, a flash of disbelief crossed Alexander's eyes: "Go back on my word? Do you really think so badly of me?"
Charlotte smiled: "Haven't you always thought so badly of me?"
"Every time something happens to Sabrina, you think I bullied her."
Alexander fell silent again.
After a long while, he licked his lips: "I'll go with you to find Sabrina."
To get her mother's watch back, Charlotte wouldn't refuse.
However, before leaving, she secretly sent Jenna a message.
Jenna had been waiting for Charlotte. When she received the message, her eyes immediately lit up: "Mr. Forbes, Charlotte is calling us over, and she wants us to bring more people."
"More people?" Landon asked in a very good mood.
"Yes." Jenna lowered her voice mysteriously. "Charlotte said that many people saw her bet with Sabrina earlier, and they must be very interested in the result, so she wants me to call them all to join in the fun."
Landon immediately understood. He smiled: "Charlotte is right, the more people the merrier."
It seemed Charlotte wasn't planning to spare Sabrina and Alexander any dignity.
But he really liked this way of getting revenge.
All the contestants and their families were gathered backstage, chatting and laughing, waiting for the final award ceremony.
But in one corner, the atmosphere was very tense. Cynthia and the others looked extremely upset.
