STUCK IN THE DARK.
"Leila’s POV".
“What party?” I asked.
“Find out.” Ben said and stepped into the shadows.
I think the lover boy is here.” Tammy said, her lips curled up into a sneer.
“Don’t you dare harm her!” Alexander said, and took a strop forward.
I wanted to scream and run to him, but I knew better than doing that. These two were unpredictable and very dangerous.
“ I would not do that if I were you.” Ben said, stepping out of the shadows and a sharp knife in his hand.
I wanted to scream and warn him, but the words refused to come out of my throat.
Tammy’s gaze was fixed on Alexander, “ I can not believe you ran here all because of her. I mean whilst we were dating, you barely had enough time to reply my texts.”
I felt like giving her a tight slap, how dare she! How dare she try to compare herself with me?
“Well, well, Well.” Ben said, his voice low and venomous.
“If it is not our Romeo who has come to save his precious little wife.” Tammy said, placing emphasis on the word “wife.”
“You thought you could just run in here, with a hundred guards waiting for you outside? Trying to save her?” Ben mocked, his voice smooth.
“But we both know that you can not risk moving a muscle. Cause one wrong move and your darling little wife will be gone.. “ Tammy chimes in.
“Alexander please. Please save me, they are up go no good.” I cried out, my voice breaking with tears.
“Shut up!” Tammy spat at me.
I flinched and closed my eyes in fear, my heart pounding in my chest.
“How can you do this to her! You have a thing with me Tammy , keep Leila out of this.” Alexander growled at Tammy.
“How can you do this? You have a thing with me Tammy, keep Laura out of this.” Tammy repeated, her voice dripping with mockery and sarcasm.
“It is good you asked. I will tell you. You see your wife is a greedy one, she is not satisfied with what she has. She got so greedy that she came after what belonged to me. She snatched your right under my nose and I could not do anything.” She continued.
I glared at Tammy, surprised by her shamelessness. What was she talking about? Alexander already broke up with her before he married me.
“You shut your mouth! Don’t you dare Tammy, don’t you dare call Leila names.”Alexander snapped at Tammy.
“But it is the truth, we both know that she is greedy and neither this marriage nor love is what she really wants.” Ben added, a cruel smile on his face.
“She wants more, she wants to dig deep into my past and she wants to start minding a business that is not hers. She wants to start minding my business.” He added, touching all over my face.
My stomach clenched and I felt like I was going to throw up. His hands were sweaty and clammy, I felt like puking all over his hideous face.
“Stop touching her!” Alexander growled at Ben.
“Well, if she wants to mind my business. I am more than happy to give her that. My business comes with a lot of thrill and suspense and I can give her all that. But all she has to do is a little something for me.” Ben said.
My mind raced with thoughts, will Ben reveal to Alexander what I did that fateful night in order to escape from him?
“You are becoming too cocky and confident Ben, I think someone needs to clip your wings.” Alexander said to Ben.
“That was the same thing her aunt said to me, but guess what? Her life was cut short by me, with my very hands. I strangled her go death and watched as she begged and pleaded with me to let her go.” Ben said, his voice filled with malice and hatred.
My eyes were stinging with tears as I thought of how Ben must have suffered my aunt before she finally gave up the ghost. I tried to scream, but my throat felt tight.
“And now, she will suffer the same fate as her aunt. Unless.. you two are ready to do what we ask you to.” Tammy chimed in, and yanked my ponytail.
I screamed in pain, thrashing around, hoping to break free of the ropes.
“What do you want?” Alexander asked them.
“Actually, what we want is very easy you see. It is a very easy thing.” Ben said.
“If you want me to hand Leila over to you, then you can stop dreaming and wake up. I will never give Leila to you .”Alexander told Ben, and I smiled in relief.
“Well, well, Well. I got to admit, you are pretty smart. Nice, nice,” Ben said. “But you are also wrong.”
“What do you mean by that!” Alexander snapped at Ben.
“Well, you see Alexander,” Ben said, walking around him, but maintains a safe distance. “ you will hand Leila over to me, you will publicly accept that Leila was your mistress and the whole wedding charade was a prank gone too far. You will tell the whole world that you snatched Leila from me, and you will tender a public apology to Ben Maloney.”
“I will do no such thing.” Alexander said, his eyes blazing with fury.
“But you will, cause if you refuse to then I am left with no other option but telling the world that Leila strangled her aunt to death.” Ben said and smirked.
Just then i heard a ding sound coming from Alexander’s pocket.
“Check it.” Ben said.
I watched as Alexander’s eyes went wide with shock and I tried to think of what he saw.
“What did he see?” A voice in my head asked.
“Good, now we can stop that from getting out of you sign this.” Ben said, and handed Alexander a paper.
“Divorce papers?” He said.
“Yes my darling boy, now I want you to think wisely and decide ... for your next move determines her fate.” Tammy said.
I looked at Alexander’s face, “what decision will he take?”
