DARK SECRETS: MORE MYSTERIES TO UNRAVEL.
Leila’s POV.
I paced nervously in my room, trying to wrap my head around what the cook told me.
The maid needed a large amount of money to treat her mother. Could she have been approached by a foe who offered her the money in exchange for my life?
But who is this mystery person? I had three suspects: Ben, Tammy and Allison.
But the possibility of murder crossing Alison’s mind was less than zero.
Leaving me with Tammy and Ben.
Ben would not kill me, his ego meant a lot to him and until I was back in his arms, he would not think of killing me.
Leaving me with Tammy...
“The cook said whilst Tammy was Alexander’s girlfriend, she treated the maid specially. Sent her on mysterious errands and gave her lots of money.” I muttered.
I need to know more about Tammy and how she is related to the maid. But how do is start? Where do I start from?
The only clue and lead I had on this mystery was dead. The maid knows nothing.
“Try asking other staffs, they might know something about it.” A voice in my head said.
“No!” I unconsciously screamed out.
“Doing that might be risky. What if the maid is not the only one working for this mystery person? If I questioned them, they might alert their boss and this could be more hazardous.” I mumbled under my breath.
“Try checking the maid’s room. You might find something in there.” A voice in my head said and I dashed out of my room.
I approached the maid’s room. I was determined to learn more about the maid, and I hoped that by understanding her, I will know the motive and person behind the poison plot.
I took a deep breath and opened the door. It was a small room , with little or less furniture , but the smell of weed filled the air.
“Looks like the maid smokes a lot.” I said, and blocked my nostrils with my palm.
I scanned the room with my eyes, there was noting in the room that gave me any hint or lead about the maid or the type of person she was.
The only thing that seemed unique in this room was a photograph on the dresser.
With shaky hands, I picked the photo up and stared at it.
As I looked at the photograph, I could not help but feel a sense of sadness and pity for the maid.
“Seems like she is from a poor background. But how come? Tammy’s parents were very rich and influential people.” I mumbled to myself .
Soon the feeling of pity faded as anger and resentment took over.
“Behind this smile ... hides a cold blooded murderer. She tried to kill me!” I said, snapping out of my state of pity.
I looked around the room, feeling lost and unsure of myself. I was not sure what to feel , or sure of what to do next.
I had to figure this out and unravel this mystery, but I was not sure where to start.
I combed through the drawers, searching for anything that would give me a lead or even a hint.
I came across a hospital card, and picked it up. I saw the picture of the maid and I read out her full name.
“Emily Ford..” I said, my voice trailing off as the realization dawned on me.
“Ford.. Ford! She is Tammy’s sister.” I exclaimed and hurriedly put my palm over my mouth to muffle my screams.
“But why is she poor? Is this some crazy coincidence or is there more than meets the eye?” I asked myself.
“Why would a Ford work as a house maid for Alexander? Or is Emily just a Ford by name? Could she be an adopted daughter?
I paced back and forth in the maid’s room, trying to figure out Emily’s real identity.
“The maid said Emily’s mother needed a lot of money for treatment. Why would Mrs Ford be so broke to the point that she can not afford her own treatment? This is not adding up!” I screamed in frustration.
“Emily might be a Ford but only in name. And her mother.. try finding a picture of her mother that would clear things up.”The voice in my head said again.
I combed through the drawers a second time and came across another hospital card, with the picture of an elderly lady attached to it.
“Mary Ford.” I read the name out loud.
“Wait a minute. Something is not right. This does not add up, Tammy’s mother’s name is not Mary. “ the voice in my head said.
“Looks like she is some hidden mistress or something like that. That would explain why they are poor and Emily licks Tammy’s boot.
“Now this definitely proves that Tammy is behind this. She must have offered to pay for Mary’s treatment and forced Emily to poison me.”
I picked my phone up again, calling Alexander.
It rang and rang and still no reply.
“Looks like he is really ignoring me.” I said and kept my phone in my back pocket.
Safely tucking the hospital cards in my pocket, I hurriedly walked to my room.
This time I dialed the number of an old friend.
“Hello.” The voice at the other end said.
“It’s Leila, can we meet and talk over coffee? I have something I need your help with something.” I said, sounding as discreet as I could be.
“Alright then, meet me at our usual coffee place in an hour. Do not be late.” The voice said and hung up the call.
I held my phone tight to my chest and took a deep breath, trying to collect myself.
“You will find out how Tammy is related to this and put an end to it.” A voice in my head encouraged me.
I got dressed and stepped out of the house, but I had a bad feeling about this.
I felt something was about to go wrong, horribly wrong and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
“Was I ready to accept rejection from Alexander?”
