“Leila's point of view"
Everything was going pretty well, or that's what I thought until a female voice rang out.
“I do"
I instantly sensed the tension in Alex who stiffened. I raised my eyes to his, probing.
He only stared down at me.
“I do"
My blood ran cold. What was he doing here? He wasn't supposed to be here.
Alex's lips pressed into a straight line, his eyes searching my face.
Ben, what was he doing here?
We both turned around to stare at the Intruders. There was a blond lady, I guess she's kind of connected to Alex and there was Ben.
His hair disheveled, I actually found it annoying now. How did I love his hair? His is nothing compared to Alex's.
The priest looked confused just as the congregation was.
“I'm opposing this marriage" the woman said, a tear streaking down her face.
She glanced at Alex, but he looked away. Okay… they had something before. Maybe his ex??
“You took my girlfriend away from me!" Ben said, pointing a finger at Alex.
I almost huffed. Was he being serious?
I had never been his girlfriend, he was having sex with my cousin while pretending to date me.
I loved him but he wanted the money and watched me die, he laughed in my face. They offered no help.
Anger coursed through me. He still had that same intention. He was just pissed that he didn't get me, that I ruined his plan
“I'm not your girlfriend," I muttered through gritted teeth.
" He forced you to marry him! She's acting under pressure!” He yelled and a few gasps erupted.
Some guts he had, I would be way better with Alex than I'd ever be with him. He was just acting stupid and out of the fact that he knew he couldn't get me any longer.
I glanced at Alex, whose fists we're clenched. His eyes hard, different from the way they'd looked at me a few minutes ago.
“Stop spewing rubbish, young man" dad said standing up from where he sat.
I tilted my head to the side. He wants to ruin the wedding, that was his plan.
Ben glared at my father before his eyes to darted to me.
I saw a flicker of anger in his eyes and it was directed at me. I bit back the silly smile that was threatening to spread across my lips.
This was just the beginning, he had no idea what was coming.
The voice of the woman drew my attention, I dragged my eyes away from Ben.
“Alex? How could you do this to me?” she asked. Alex looked uneasy.
“I did nothing to you, you should be happy I'm getting married” he said and the woman snickered glaring at me.
Oh my, I'm sorry I stole your man. Ha, funny.
“You left me, for her?" She asked and he sighed.
I took my time in staring at the woman. She was pretty, but she was nothing compared to me.
“You're ruining a wedding," mum spoke up. Her eyes didn't hold the warmth it had earlier when I walked down the aisle.
They were trying to ruin everything. How did they get in, in the first place?
Glancing at Ben, I knew it was his handwork.
“You either leave, or you both will be escorted out" my father announced at that, the tension I never knew I had eased out of me.
Ben shot another look at me probably hoping I'd change my mind.
No way. That wasn't happening. I would make him pay for Killing me, he'd pay.
The lady began wailing, I raised a brow.
Seriously?
“The time is ticking," dad reminded.
Ben clenched his jaws before walking out leaving the lady to trail behind him.
I knew he isn't going to give up that easily, he'd find a way.
But I knew better now. I wondered how I fell in love with him. Why I didn't realize how much of a wicked man he is.
Alex turned to me, watching me curiously like he was trying to gauge my emotion. He gave me a curt nod in assurance.
Determination fuelled me. Ben and Allison must pay. I'd make sure of that.
Father Derrick looked uncomfortable, he should get us wedded and that too —fast.
The rings were passed to us. Alex took my hand in his, slipping the ring on. I stared at it, it fitted perfectly.
It was beautiful, too beautiful for a fake marriage.
I slipped the ring on to Alex's finger and cheers rang out.
Father Derrick smiled and a small smile tugged at my lips.
“You may now unveil and kiss your bride" he instructed. I kept my eyes fixed on Alex.
I was nervous. Even though he'd kissed me before, that too on our very first meeting. I was still nervous.
He raised my veil sucking in breath, he leaned down, our faces few inches apart. He was searching my face. He always searched.
I took the step, I tilted my head, so our lips met. He took over in the next second, stroking, and sucking.
We pulled apart and the priests smiled down at us. I flushed immediately.
Alex linked our fingers together and Father Derrick announced us husband and wife.
The crowd cheered, from the corner of my eyes, I caught mum dabbing her eyes. She was crying - tears of joy for her daughter.
I felt quite bad. I didn't tell mum the truth. No one should know, it was between Alex and I. Even if it meant keeping my family in the dark.
“For a moment, I thought this wouldn't push through” Alex whispered as we climbed down the alter and into the crowd.
I shook my head, forcing a small smile.
“You should trust me to make sure everything is a success. I wouldn't let this plan be ruined and not by Ben” I muttered.
I smiled at my aunt Matahye who gave a sleek smile.
“Hm, fiesty" he commented leading me past the crowd as flowers were thrown on us.
" Ben must pay, it's my duty to make sure of that"
“I'm your husband now, it's our duty” Alex said and my cheeks burned.
Husband. Why does that sound sexy?
He flashed me a smile and I gulped down nothing looking away. It was a contract. We were being of help to each other because we needed revenge.
I should always remind myself that.
Ian nodded at me. I was surprised to see him present. The man I was supposed to get married to.
The sickler.
Thinking about it, I'm lucky to get Alex both as a husband and an ally.
