Escape of the elders

"So like I said, you have to understand the taskfor you to nail it. And understanding the task, is why we have the 11 elders locked up in there. Whatever happens to them lies in the palm of your hands." The man stated and they turned to stare at one another before returning their diverted gazes to him.

"Here's what you have to do. You have to channel your inner energy and make sure they connect together for you to be able to drive out the demons. But not just that, you have to male sure that the energy attached is just enough to take out the demon but not too harsh to kill the elders whose body the shadow has seek refuge." The man continued and they just stared on at him with surprise visible in their eyes.

"Can I ask you a question?" Alec queries and Kaye tugged her hair again.

"Your choice. I get to pick.if I want to answer you or not." The man stated and Alec nodded in satisfaction.

At least, he hadn't told.her not to even open. Her mouth at all.

"What's your name? I know it sounds clicje to ask but you know all of our names and my tongue has been itching to ask you about it." Alec syatedand after the mam looked ta her thoughtfully for some seconds, he cleared his throat and said;

"Rico." He answered straightforwardly and hoarsely.

"So Rico, you're saying that we have to chase the demon away but the radiation of our energy needed to put the demon away might be too much to handle for the elders and they might end up with their lives dead." Alec recollected and Rico nodded like he hadn't just said a dangerous thing that cause the kids to freak out.

"I'm out." James simply said and they turned to stare at him.

"What? Why are y'all shooting daggers from your eyes to me? I don't want to have the blood of another elder on my hands anymore so I'm no to laying this game of probability." James sated firmly with a matter of factly tone attached to it.

"Come on, James. Its not like the elders are dead yet, besides we need you and you know that. Rico explain to him why he can't leave." Alec persuaded and Rico shook his head in negativity.

"He can leave and if he's able to cross the front door then he can really leave and no one, not even I would stop him. Maybe the demons might be somewhere around waiting for you to leave the big city, so go ahead. Be my guest." Rico said and shifted his attention back to the elders

Walking over to an empty seat that had a laptop in the desk in front of it, Rico began clicking away at the mouse but this time, the kids weren't hovering at his back.

Instead they were fawning over James and giving him a million and one reasons why he can't leave yet.

"If you're trying to make him stay please keep your voice down, I'm trying to trail peter and you're making me lack concentration." Rico yelled and an abrupt pause fell upon them.

"What did you say?" James asked slowly as he took slow steps towards Rico who had returned his full attention to the laptop in front of him.

"Rico, what did you say?" James asked again but was totally ignored.

"So they are sending Carly to kill her love interest and they think its going to be super possible? Wow, only if he can get close before they get to him...I can do my best to save the both of them." Rico was just muttering to himself.

"What are you saying?" James asked as he began peeping to see what Rico was doing.

"Hey people, you have an even bigger problem. So the earlier you get this one done, the better for you. Remember you can't get all tied yo in onejov and forget that the demons do not wait to lurch another attack okay?" The man started putting on gloves and they just stared at him because they had no idea onw hat he was doing.

"Group yourselves in two's, prefably mix your gender up. A male to a female. James is leaving yeah? So one of you would group with me." Rico said and James held his arms.

"You can't just throw me out of the team, I'm.still here in flesh and blood." James snickered and Rico held a smug look on his face.

"Well, if you're still here, can you please join the arrangements. You gave oyher places to be." Rico emphasized and James immediate set pairs with Kate while Alec joined Sam.

"Run along, there's no time on our side any longer." The man urged as he walked and they raced behind him but the only thing that was funny to them was the fact that they were running and he was just walking yet they couldn't even reach him.

Placing his hands on the door to the cell, the scanner scanned his fingerprints and he walked in like that was some kind of safe place to be.

The taser had lost its power and the elders/shadows were already beginning to regain their strength and this kept the teenagers from following him immediately as they realized that the fight had two ways it was to end.

"So this is it. Its either they kill us or we kill them or we just kill the shadows. One of those things tends to happen." Alec said and they heaved a deep sigh as most of them began thinking of backing out.

"Well, are we doing this or not?" Rico asked twitching his eye brows.

"Everyone, be careful. Thats all I have to say and secondly, I love you all so much. This whole.journey would have been boring without—" Sam was saying when Rico abruptly interrupted.

"Its not time for you to begin giving your loge speeches. Save it for later." He scoffed as he used his eyes to gesture to them to come inside.

As they walked inside, they began sweating when they heard the automatic lock of the door click.

"Like I said, pair yourself up. One of you, whoever you choose would stand at the front whole the other would stand behind that person and channel your energy into that person." The man began ordering as he used his powers to hold the elders down.

James and Kate were elected to stay in front and while Alec was transferring her energy to James, Sam was doing the same for Sam.

Whatever happens, don't cut the chain. When you do, the person behind would drop dead." Rico infirmed and Alec immediately felt like she was been choked.

"Is there no better way to do this that has lower risk, I've heard death for how many times in a row now like its a normal till for anybody to drop down dead." Alec commented and he stared at her before his eyes turned blue and he turned to keep his attention on the elders.

"Once your powers are connected, they would be left up to you. I would leave and you have to handle the situation, understood?" Rick reiterated and the were dumbfounded.

"Why would you leave us in a death hole?" Kate yelled as tears flowed out of her eyes.

"So I can see how willing you are to live."
