Chapter 68:

Chapter 68:
Sally POV:

When we landed back in the field everyone was yelling different things. I didn’t think that I would be in the middle of an actual fight and I’m not going to lie, watching Ezmeralda take on one of those creatures had me stressed in ways I didn’t think possible.

It showed her strength though. She is a good fighter and her flame is awesome. When she created the circle around them it was so beautiful to look at. But when I spotted Cindy her aura was shining so bright and I was excited. It was the first real time I got to use my new gift and I really loved helping. She didn’t have to go through what I did but I didn’t want to think about what would have happened if I didn’t see her. She would probably be dead.

“So what do we do?” Cindy asked, pulling me from my thoughts.

“We check on Ezmeralda. She was hurt along with the others but I see the doctors with them now.” I replied.

“You are going to tell me who all of these people are right? I’m feeling a little bit anxious.” Cindy whispered.

“I’ll explain everything but I really want to go check on Ezie.” I answered walking forward. Ezie was sitting on the grass with Ash sitting next to her. Her mother and another man were standing in front of her while another woman went to work on her open wounds.

“You can’t do that, Ezmeralda. What if they had all ran forward? We can’t risk your life.” The man said.

“Talon, I’m not stupid. If they had all ran at me they would have died. I had my flame surrounding us. No one but Ash could get in.” Ezmeralda sighed.

“I get that but crazier things have happened. You just have to be more careful. I don’t want you hanging on to your life like the last time.” Talon whispered. There was a sadness in his voice.

“I’m not going to promise anyone that I won’t ever be harmed or close to death. We all know what this war is going to be like.” Ezie replied. I needed to ask her what was really happening.

“Sally, you weren’t hurt were you?” Her mother asked looking at me. Her aura was actually pretty cool. It was a mix of red and green the swirled together like a tornado.

“No, I wasn’t hurt thanks to them. This is Cindy, she is a human that was mixed in like I was.” I replied. Evanora tilted her head to the side,

“Lovely to meet you. Welcome to our home or well homes. We all live very close by.” She smiled.

“Nice to meet you too. This is all just very surreal right now.” Cindy replied.

“Can I take her to get some food? Maybe a shower or something too. We still need to go to her house and get her clothes.” I said.

“Tell me where you live and I will gather a team and get your belongings.” Dahlia said, walking up to us.

“I’m Dahlia, her sister and her daughter.” She smiled.

“Uh, hello. I’ll write it down for you, the more I think about it the less I really want to go. I mean I don’t have fire that shoots out of my arms or bolts of lightning.” CIndy said, making everyone laugh.

“Perfect. I’ll come find you two in a bit. Ezie, we need to get you inside so they can look at your ribs.” Dahlia said, she was now focussed back on Ezmeralda.

“We will be in the cafeteria room.” I announced. Ezmeralda looked up at me and smiled.

“I’m proud of you. You did well and saved a life.” She praised. Everyone that surrounded us turned and smiled at me.

“Thank you. All I want to do is save lives.” I replied. I looked at Sally and took her by the hand and started to guide her inside.

“Sally!” I heard my name being called and I looked to see that Adira and Bobbie were walking towards me. I stopped so that they could catch up.

“We wanted to talk to you about your birthday party.” Bobbie smiled.

“And to tell you that you did great. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for you to see all of that.” Adira added.

“It wasn’t.. But it was worth it.” I smiled. I looked to see she had dried blood on her.

“Were you hurt?” I asked.

“I was but nothing I can’t heal from. I’ll be alright young one, don't you worry.” Adira winked.

“I saw what you did, you know, your aura turned a lot of different colors and they were so bright.” I smiled at her.

“I still don’t know how I did that to be honest with you, it’s something I’ll be looking into. We do want to talk to you about your party but that can wait. Cindy is hungry and we make her nervous.” Adira said, shifting her attention to Cindy. Her eyes went wide,

“You don’t have to be scared of them, they are really nice. She is the queen of the vampires and she can also read minds just a heads up on that.” I giggled.

“Oh.. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend anyone.” Cindy said. Her face turned a bright red.

“You didn’t offend me, this must all be scary for you, or well it is but no one here will hurt you.” Adira vowed.

“You are completely safe. You two go and eat. We will see you guys later.” Bobbie added as she pulled Adira towards the rest of them.

“She can really read minds?” CIndy asked as we started to walk up the stairs.

“Yes she can. I’m still learning a lot. I haven’t been here all that long. Barely a day but I was with Dahlia and she is really nice too.” I replied.

“How did you end up with them?” Cindy asked.

“Ah.. I was kidnapped by the black witches. My family and I were celebrating my sixteenth birthday and they killed them and took me.” I sighed.

“Oh hunny, I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked.” Cindy whispered.

“It’s okay, I think it’s good to talk about so it doesn’t always stay stuck in my head.” I replied.

“Wait.. So you are human too?” Cindy asked.

“I was but the moon goddess came to me while I was sleeping. She promised me I wouldn’t have nightmares about my family and she offered me a way to save other humans from the same fate.” I replied. I looked to see she was nearly studying me.

“I can see auras now, Dark witches are green, vampires are red, white witches are white, wolves depend but if they are in human form I can see their wolves too. It’s pretty neat actually.” I shrugged.

“What do you see when you look at me?” Cindy questioned.

“Well, you are a bright pink. Almost neon. Sienna, the moon goddess said humans would be either pink or blue depending on their gender. Your aura was shining brightly and I told them you were human and they ran to you.” I answered.

“That is pretty cool but what is this war they talked about? I mean, are we going to have to fight too?” Cindy asked.

“I don’t know entirely, I just got here but I do know the black witches are attacking everyone and they are doing all that they can to stop it. I’ve been making a mental note to ask Ezmeralda what the fight was about.” I said.

We came around the corner to the large room where food was served. There were so many people in here but they were all very welcoming.

“Hey Sally! Are you adjusting well?” Thena asked. I knew her from word of mouth and she was just as beautiful as they described.

“I’m trying to. This is Cindy.” I replied stepping to the side.

“Ah yes, the human you saved, it is lovely to meet you. I am Thena, mother to Ash who is the alpha of this pack and king to all wolves, way to go kiddo. I bet the two of you are hungry. Come.” Thena smiled.

Cindy looked mesmerized by her and everything going on. We walked on the stage to the large table and Thena pointed to the chairs.

“I’ll have them bring some stuff out. Sit tight.” Thena smiled before she walked off.

“She seems really nice.” Cindy whispered.

“You’ll learn that everyone here is really nice. They don’t care who you are or anything. If you are nice to them then they return that.” I replied. I was starting to feel more and more comfortable around everyone.

“I know it’s overwhelming but it’ll get better. How old are you?” I asked. I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable.

“Twenty four. I just moved out here to get away from my toxic family.” Cindy answered.

“I’m sorry to hear that, sometimes it is for the best though.” I said.

“It was for the best. I wasn’t expecting to give up my place but if I’m being honest, it’s a shit hole anyways. I haven’t even secured a job yet.” Cindy huffed.

“They have plenty of room here and they can find you a job or something if you do want to work. There is a family of humans here too. They stay in the guest house.” I said.

“They were kidnapped too?” Cindy asked.

“Honestly, I don’t know. I know they were like mummified or something and it took Dahlia some time to fix them.” I shrugged. The smell of food hit my nose and my stomach started grumbling. I looked down to see a bowl full of roast meat, carrots and potatoes. There was also a plate full of corn bread that was placed in the middle of us.

“Thank you so much.” I said, smiling at the young man.

“You are very welcome. What can I get the two of you to drink?” He asked.

“Water will be fine for me.” I replied.

“Sprite please. Thank you for the food.” Cindy smiled. He nodded before he took off to get our drinks. I started eating and wondered when the last time I really ate. My stomach is telling me a long time but I knew that wasn’t right.

“Where am I supposed to sleep?” Cindy asked.

“We have plenty of rooms but I think it’s best that you stay close to Sally for now so you can have the adjoining room next to hers.” Thena responded. She sat down next to us and I looked at her confused.

“You didn’t think Ezmeralda wouldn't have someone looking at you did you?” Thena chuckled and I laughed. I should have known she would send someone.

“Write down your address please so I can tell them. Although I made sure your room had all fresh clothing and essentials that you will need until then.” Thena added as she handed Cindy a piece of paper and a pen. I watched as she wrote her address and handed it back. I knew she was mind linking someone but I didn’t care. All I knew was that I was hungry and I was about to embarrass myself with how much food I was about to eat…
