Chapter 299: Does It Compare?

Chapter 299: Does It Compare?
Celia Bennett's POV:

I didn't know what to say. Everything was absolutely... Astonishing if that were even the right word to use in this moment. Never before have I seen anything with such exquisite design. My father had a garden, but it didn't look anything like this. This one had just about every single color you could imagine, and it was all in an intricate pattern. Everything was just... just... Beautiful!

"Does it compare?" Master Pierre asked me as I turned back to look at him.

I had to force my mouth closed as I knew that my jaw had dropped open. I was practically breathing through my mouth because everything was just so... so remarkable. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I couldn't even have dreamed of living in a place that looked like this, and yet here I was.

There were so many live fences made of bushes, further than the eye can see around different corners. I bet the landscaping bill cost more than a fortune.

"Come," Master Pierre said at that moment as he still held me in his arms with my arms wrapped around his neck. "There's much more to see."

My eyes went wide upon hearing him say that. I didn't know whether to shake my head from side to side or nod... or what. He was the one carrying me after all. I didn't have a choice in the matter but to go with him. I didn't mind either. It was nice for once. The only thing I could've done without was my ass literally hanging out into the open air.

He walked up a set of stairs to the main entrance. There was a gigantic chandelier hanging from a large chain. There are even four other chains that were holding it in the center of the space above our heads. That was a smart idea. I would hate to see that thing fall in the wind if it got knocked around. It looked to be pretty big and heavy, and we were all the way down here.

By the looks of everything, I think the outside entrance had to be at least three stories tall, and the chandelier hung at the base of the third story, so it had to be at least two stories above our heads. That would knock somebody out for sure, if not kill them, if that fell on someone.

Just as we reached the front entrance, the doors opened automatically by themselves, or so I thought. Once we were inside, Master Pierre turned back as I watched two women in very short maids' outfits close the doors back.

In the center of the large foyer, there looks like none other than a single Butler. He even wore white gloves to match his attire. I thought people only wore those sorts of things in the movies. Or in romantic fairytales. Never before have I actually seen that in real life.

"Welcome home, Master Pierre," he said in his elegant elderly voice. "I trust your trip fared well."

"Not as fair as I would have liked, but it was a decent trip after all," Master Pierre said as he walked over to the man. "As you can see, I have brought home company."

"Shall I have the guest suite set up for her, sire?" The Butler asked him as he had yet to lay his eyes on me.

"You may have the room set down from mine prepared," Master Pierre said as he turned to head up the side stair that rounded the front for you.

There were actually two sets of rounded stairs, one set in the room. Each led to a different hallway, as a water structure blocked the center walkway that would connect the two paths at the top of the stairs. However, it wasn't until we were at the top of the one set of stairs that I realized there was a path right in front of it.

Well, that would make it a lot easier, instead of having to go all the way down one set of stairs and then walk back up the other to get to the other hallway.

"Come and collect me when everything is prepped and ready," Master Pierre called back over the banister as the Butler was left standing in the same position he was in, in the center of the foyer downstairs.

"You have my word on that, sire," I heard the Butler call up after Master Pierre.

Master Pierre continued to walk down one of the hallways. I had absolutely no idea where he was headed. This place was so huge I actually thought I might get lost. It really made me wonder exactly where he was headed. I didn't want to ask any more unnecessary questions, so I chose to remain silent in that moment. I knew I would soon see, as he was the one carrying me.

At the end of this particular corridor, there was a small bench set there at the side of the wall. Master Pierre walked over to the bench and sat me down on it, allowing my legs to hang over the front edge. I couldn't help but as I lightly adjusted the cover that was barely even closed in front of me now. The material was so soft that I was surprised that it hadn't come apart already.

"Tell me what you think of this," Master Pierre said as he walked over to a different set of double doors.

These doors were narrower, but they were still just as tall. It was taller than a regular door in any random apartment building. I'll admit to that for sure. However, nothing prepared me for whatever I saw whenever he opened the doors. It was like a whole different array outside the set of doors.

There was a pool and various other fountains that flowed over natural rock formations just out the back of his huge place. My eyes went even wider, which I didn't think was possible at this point. I had no words to speak.

"Just on the other corridor is a cliff," Master Pierre said as I turned to look at him in shock.

"I... I don't know what to say," I said as I raised my hands up to the sides of my shoulders with my palms facing up before he placed them back down, holding onto the edge of the bench on which I was sitting. "Everything is so... so remarkable. It's beautiful, really! You must be ever so proud."

It was at that moment that Master Pierre walked outside. There was a small balcony there, and he walked over and leaned against the metal railing. He seemed a little bit down. I didn't understand what was wrong. What do I do? I thought to myself. Was there a way that I could help? Comfort him if that were even possible?

At that moment, I placed my feet on the floor as I slid myself to the edge of the bench. I had absolutely no idea whether I would be able to stand up on my own or not. I needed to try.
