Chapter 16 Chapter 16
Chapter 16 Chapter 16
SABRINA
I woke up early, as planned, because Mum called me last night and was excited over the phone, talking about how it seemed I had grown closer to Alpha Vincent. Well, I let her rant last night before finally deciding to let her be. I didn't even say much until she felt the need to end the call.
My mother is frustrating, but it is actually not her fault. However, I still hope that she will believe me when I tell her I never had anything to do with those men. I am her only daughter and I had expected her to have even just a little belief in me.
“Alright, enough pondering Sabrina,” I said and stood up from the bed. I make my way to the bathroom before the arrival of Diana.
After taking my bath and washing my teeth, I decided to pick out a dress from the closet. The dress I wore yesterday is still neatly hanging. I guess Diana will be taking it for washing today.
I sat in front of the mirror, trying to find my way around the way Diana applied some makeup to my face, but, lo and behold, she arrived at my door the next second.
“Come in,” I said before she could even knock on the door.
She walked in with a composed expression. “Good morning my Queen.” She said and bowed her head in greetings.
“Morning Diana. Your night?” I asked her and she stepped forward with her hand folded in front of her.
“I slept well, my Queen.” She answered and proceeded. I know she will definitely have some information to pass across to me from the king.
The king told me to get you ready for breakfast. You only have thirty minutes to…” Diana's voice trailed off when I cut in.
“As you can see, I am already dressed. I took my bath before you even came here.” I said and stood up from the chair
Immediately, she fell on her knees and faced the ground.
“I'm so sorry my lady.” She pleaded and I found what she did confusing.
My eyes were filled with confusion but I still decided to ask her what was wrong. Maybe she has some favour to ask from me.
“What? Why are you sorry?” I asked her and she hesitated before speaking.
“If the king gets to know I am not doing my duty, I might eventually lose my job,” Diana said.
“Fuck.” I almost cursed out.
How could I forget about that? The king pays their salary because they aren't slaves, and if I decided to start dressing myself, I am indirectly insinuating that their assistance is no longer needed.
“I'm sorry about that, Diana. That is not what I am trying to do and no one will know about this. Believe me when I say it's between us.” I assured her and walked towards her.
I offered her my hand to take and she did.
“Thank you, my Queen.” She said and I smiled.
“Also, I will always wait for you now,” I told her and she smiled in return.
“I will do your makeup,” she said, and I sat back on the chair.
That was smooth.
Diana spent up to twenty minutes before getting everything done. At the end, I had to change my outfit to something more beautiful, and she assisted me with it.
Eventually, we were done before the time the Alpha king gave me. We waited for five more minutes before finally deciding to go. Diana accompanied me and went back when we got to the entrance.
I placed my hand on the doorknob and was about to push the door open until I heard the echoing footsteps behind me.
I turned immediately and made eye contact with Alpha Vincent. My eyes drank in his appearance. Today, he is not wearing a suit. He is wearing an ash shirt with black pants. His long legs and thick thighs made me look at him twice as if he were a demigod. But then, I looked away and cleared my throat.
“You came early,” he remarked, and I pushed the door open.
“Because I didn't forget our deal. You told me I get to ask for anything I want if I come here,” I said, and he came in while his two men waited outside.
I stood at the back of one of the chairs, and my eyes took in the beautiful dining room made for hundreds of people to eat, allocated to just one person. The Alpha king.
“Yes, I did say that” Alpha Vincent said
“ So have you thought about it?” He asked and I nodded, looking everywhere but him.
“Yes,” I said.
He drew out a chair and I looked at him.
“Come here.” He beckoned to me and I did. I walked to him.
“Sit.” He said and I sat on the seat. Today, I have chosen to be calm at least until he gets to approve what I want.
“You can tell me what you want after the morning meal. I will be in the study room so come there.” He said, and I replied Okay.
I make myself comfortable on the chair while he sits beside me. Still, I avoided looking at him, afraid my stupid heart would keep pulsating to look at those lips that claimed mine last night.
“She will be here in a bit. Just be natural and don't force anything.” He gave advice and I nodded.
The door opened, and Vincent's mother walked inside.
“Mother,” Vincent said and stood up. I have never pictured him as someone polite but he actually surprised me when he hugged his mother and kissed her cheek.
“It feels good to see you again,” Vincent said and his mother smiled at him.
“Now, let me go. You have a wife now.” His mother said and he chuckled before letting go.
Wow.
The sound is not something I am familiar with and I am forced to look at him. He looked so pretty when he was smiling.
And wait.
I think… I think he has dimples on his cheeks.
“Wow. I never expected him to…” I had to stop thinking about them when he suddenly turned to face me.
“This is Sabrina. You met her last night,” Vincent introduced me, and his mother nodded.
I stood up and went to meet her. “Good morning Mother. I hope you slept well.”
“She is such a sweet gentle soul.” She said, smiling, and took my hand in hers.
“Thank you Luna. I am so strong and healthy now after seeing you.” She said and I smiled at her small joke.
“You flatter me, mother,” I said, and she pulled me in for a hug.
“Thank you for taking care of him,” she said after pulling back.
Alpha Vincent gave me a look that says, “Don't fuck this up”
Well, I am not going to ruin this moment. His mother is nothing like him, so why would I act like a spoilt brat in front of her?
He flicked his hand and the maid began to serve the food on the table.
