Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Chris looked up at the sound.

The moment he saw Lila, a smile immediately appeared on Chris's gentle, handsome face. "Long time no see."

With that, he pulled out a chair for her. "Have a seat?"

Lila felt something strange inside watching his gentlemanly gesture.

Though her teenage crush had been intense, four years had passed, and the memories and longing had gradually faded with time.

But now, seeing him again, certain memories came flooding back uncontrollably, making her realize that everything about Chris still held a place deep in her heart.

"Thanks." Lila hid her emotions and responded politely.

Maybe it was because seeing Chris stirred up too many strange feelings, but for a moment Lila forgot she hadn't come alone.

She hadn't come alone.

Her bottom had barely touched the chair when a voice cut in: "So this is...?"

Alexander paused deliberately, then looked at Lila, a smile playing on his thin lips, his tone rising with unclear meaning: "Your classmate?"

She instantly became alert and looked at Alexander, responding obediently: "Yes."

Alexander's contemptuous snort left Lila unsure what to do.

Chris looked at her in confusion: "Lila, who is he?"

"He's my..."

She paused, and the words about to leave her mouth took a turn: "Boss."

The introduction of "boss" made Alexander look at her deeply, the corners of his mouth curving into a cold smile.

When Chris heard he was Lila's boss, he visibly relaxed compared to before and said with a smile: "Didn't expect your boss would also come to this restaurant. What a coincidence."

"Yeah, he knew I was coming and gave me a ride."

"Your boss seems pretty nice."

Lila forced a smile: "Yeah."

Chris looked at Alexander and proactively extended his hand, maintaining normal social etiquette and grace as he introduced himself: "Hello, I'm Lila's high school classmate, Chris Cavill."

Alexander didn't even look at his outstretched hand, let alone shake it.

He directly pulled out the chair next to Lila and sat down.

Alexander leaned back in his chair, his entire being radiating the powerful presence of a successful person who had long held a position of authority. Without anyone noticing, the scene that had belonged to Chris now had a new master.

The dining area of the restaurant, which had seemed spacious enough, suddenly felt crowded because of his presence.

Alexander glanced at Chris from the corner of his eye, saw him still standing there, and said flatly: "Aren't we here to eat? Everyone's time is valuable. Mr. Chris, please order quickly."

Lila was partly angry at Alexander's arrogance, and partly couldn't help feeling embarrassed for Chris.

She stood up and smiled at Chris: "Should we order?"

Though Chris didn't understand why Lila's boss was sitting with them, he still went along with her words: "Sure, what do you want to eat? My treat."

"I'm fine with anything. You know this restaurant better since you recommended it, so you order."

"Okay."

Chris called over a waiter. After ordering four or five dishes, he glanced at Alexander, and seeing he had no intention of acknowledging him, looked back at Lila: "Lila, do you want to ask your boss if he wants to order anything else?"

Their warm interaction made Alexander's indifferent eyes narrow slightly.

Lila didn't ask him as Chris suggested, deciding on her own: "No need, you ordered plenty."

"Alright then, we'll just have these..."

Chris was halfway through his sentence when Alexander interrupted: "She's not me, how would she know what I need?"
