Chapter 243
Charlie had his doubts, but he didn't dare question Mr. Sinclair.
He reported another matter, "Mr. Sinclair, the housekeeper has been arranged. She'll start working at the Island Mansion today. I've already given her the password to your villa."
"Got it."
"I'll leave you to your work then."
Alexander made a sound of acknowledgment and waved towards the door.
Charlie quickly left the CEO's office.
After the office door closed, Alexander looked up towards the driver's lounge.
From his angle, Lila appeared to be reading, but she hadn't turned a page in a long time. She looked completely lost in thought, as if she was still savoring their earlier kiss.
Could it be that despite the interruption, she was left wanting more?
As this thought emerged, the corners of Alexander's lips curved up unconsciously. When he realized he was grinning to himself like an idiot, he immediately straightened his expression, withdrew his gaze, and returned to his work with a serious face.
Lila felt embarrassed for a long, long time because of that kiss with Alexander.
To avoid having to leave the driver's lounge and face him, she didn't drink a single sip of water all afternoon.
That way, she wouldn't need to use the restroom in his private lounge.
At five o'clock, she caught a glimpse of Alexander getting up, draping his suit jacket over his arm and walking towards her. She guessed it was time to leave work.
As Alexander got closer and closer, she pretended to read until he pushed open the lounge door. Only then did she turn her head, acting as if she'd just noticed him, "Time to leave?"
"What, you want to work overtime?"
"No."
After responding, Lila immediately stood up, "Boss, wait a moment, I need to use the restroom."
Alexander frowned, seemingly displeased, "Why do you always need to use the restroom right when it's time to leave?"
"I don't know, it's not like I can control these things." She made up an excuse.
He lifted his chin toward the back, indicating she could go.
Lila quickly headed off.
While she was in the restroom, Alexander entered the driver's lounge and flipped through a few pages of the book on Lila's desk. She'd already read through half of the thick "Comprehensive Quality" textbook. It wasn't hard to tell that during this time, she'd really been taking it seriously.
Three minutes later, Lila came out.
As she walked over, she said to Alexander, "Alright, boss, let's go."
Alexander, who had been looking around her lounge, turned his head and looked at her sideways, "Work's over, and you're still calling me boss?"
Lila pressed her lips together and changed her words almost without hesitation, "Honey, shall we go home?"
Only then was he satisfied, "Alright."
With that, the two of them headed out one after the other.
Underground parking garage.
Just as Lila opened the driver's side door and was about to get in, Alexander looked at her and said, "Mrs. Sinclair, normally, shouldn't a driver open the door for their boss? As I recall, you've never once opened the car door for me?"
Lila froze for two seconds, then immediately replied, "I'm sorry boss, that was my oversight."
With that, she immediately walked over and opened the door for Alexander, looking at him respectfully, "Boss, please get in."
Alexander's lips curved slightly as he looked at her and lectured, "Even though you're Mrs. Sinclair, you're also the Sinclair Group's driver. You need to do your job properly. Don't let your special status make you take a careless attitude toward your work."
Hearing these preachy words, Lila really wanted to ask when exactly she'd ever been careless about her work because of her special status.
