Chapter 24
Alexander grabbed Lila and pulled her over like she was a toy, positioning her in front of him. Once again, he issued commands with a king-like attitude. "I'm telling you to go back and eat."
Lila swatted away his large hand. "I'm not hungry."
Alexander's tone was firm. "Even if you're not hungry, you need to keep Grandma company for the meal. You're coming back with me!"
With that, Alexander grabbed Lila's arm and dragged her back.
Lila thought Alexander was being completely unreasonable.
She refused to move, digging in her heels and pulling back with all her strength, resisting against his grip while shouting. "If you don't apologize to me, I'd rather die than go back!"
Alexander looked at her with interest, the corner of his mouth curling up. "Such backbone?"
"This is about dignity!"
"Dignity? How much is your dignity worth? Don't forget, you married into the Sinclair family for money. It's too late to talk about dignity now!"
Although Lila was afraid of Alexander, she was too angry right now to care. She shot back in the same tone. "Well, don't you forget. You agreed to marry me yourself. What gives you the right to give me attitude and mentally abuse me?"
He frowned slightly. "Mentally abuse?"
She stared at Alexander, realizing from his expression that this man had probably only learned how to hurt people, without even understanding the harm he caused.
Lila sneered coldly and didn't bother answering his question.
He didn't deserve it!
Alexander clearly had no intention of getting to the bottom of it either.
He bent down, threw her over his shoulder, and carried her back to the entrance of the Sinclair Group.
Fortunately, it was just past eleven, during work hours when employees were inside the company, so basically no one saw them. Otherwise, he would never do something with such a bad influence.
When Lila was put down, her face still looked awful.
Gaia quickly came over and glared at Alexander. "Did you apologize?"
"Why should I apologize?"
"You..."
Lila took Gaia's arm. "It's okay, Grandma. Even if he apologized, it wouldn't be sincere. I don't want it."
Gaia sighed and said earnestly, "I didn't raise my grandson properly. Lila, Grandma knows Alex was wrong just now. He doesn't know how to talk. Don't stoop to his level. Look, it's lunchtime now, and you've been tired all morning. Come have a meal with Grandma, okay?"
Lila pressed her lips together and nodded.
Gaia asked tentatively, "Your classmate left already. Should we call him back?"
Lila quickly shook her head. "No need, Grandma. I'll treat him properly another day."
With Alexander's attitude toward him, Lila was too embarrassed to ask Ethan to come back.
However, right after she mentioned treating him another time, Alexander fell back into his old habit of ordering her around. "You're not allowed to contact him again."
"Why not?" Lila shot back.
Gaia backed her up. "Exactly! Why do you have to butt in everywhere? Who our Lila contacts is none of your business!"
Alexander's gaze moved past Gaia to land on Lila's face. "Since you married into the Sinclair family, you need to know your place and stop contacting suspicious men from outside!"
Gaia pulled Lila behind her and stared at him. "Stop flaunting your status, will you? Are we eating or not? Are you trying to starve me?"
Alexander frowned and called Charlie, "Are you planning to wait until tomorrow to bring the car around?"
"Mr. Sinclair, what are you talking about?"
"I just told you to bring the car out. Are you deaf?"
Charlie was terrified and asked carefully, "This is the first time you've called me since leaving the company. Are you sure you didn't remember wrong?"
