Lila quickly shook her head, her eyes sincere as she spoke, "No, absolutely not! Boss, I promise I don't have feelings for you, and I'm not trying to get your attention. I just wanted to tell you that Ms. Hill and I aren't love rivals right now."
Alexander's face darkened, "Even if you're not love rivals, aren't you being a bit too friendly with a woman who's after your husband?"
She didn't understand and asked him, "How is Ms. Hill after you?"
"She likes me."
"Even if she likes you and confessed to you, did she say she wants you to be with her? Did she insist you give her a response?"
Alexander thought back to last night's conversation.
She hadn't.
He stared at Lila and snorted coldly, "She knows her place. She knows I won't do anything with her. We're both smart people,some things don't need to be spelled out."
"So you're saying Ms. Hill didn't ask you for any response?"
"So what?"
Lila smiled, "Then she's not really after you. She just expressed her feelings and let you know someone likes you, that's all. Don't read too much into it."
With that, she freed herself from Alexander's grip and looked away from him.
Her almond-shaped eyes showed admiration for Ms. Hill as she mused to herself, "Actually, I really admire Ms. Hill. I think she's excellent and brave—she's worked her way up in such a competitive environment and even had the courage to confess to the person she likes. She's truly a role model for modern women."
Alexander felt somewhat helpless.
Why did he feel like he regretted telling her about Ms. Hill's confession?
He'd originally wanted her to know how attractive her husband was, but what happened?
She was more interested in the woman who liked him than in him.
At this thought, Alexander's eyes darkened, "Lila, you don't actually like women, do you?"
Lila looked at him in surprise. "Boss, you know quite a lot, but sorry, I like men, not women. Sorry to disappoint you."
Alexander snorted softly.
Still, hearing her say she didn't like women put his mind somewhat at ease.
Alexander unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
The bell rang.
The elevator had arrived.
The two walked out one after the other.
Lila followed Alexander into the CEO's office, and the moment they entered, he turned to stare at her. "Now, clear things up with Ethan."

"Hurry up."
She took out her phone. "I'm about to do it. I'm already being quick."
"Come here, sit on the sofa and do it."
"Okay."
Lila obediently followed him over.
She took out her phone and sent Ethan a text message.
[Ethan, your mom texted me, inviting me to go shopping this weekend. I don't think this can go on. Haven't you told her we're not really a couple?]
After sending it, she put away her phone and sat quietly waiting for a reply.
Alexander looked at her. "That's it?"
"I already sent the message. I'm waiting for a reply."
"Why don't you just call him? Waiting for replies is inefficient and wastes time."
Lila said with complete sincerity, "It's okay, I'm not busy."
He scoffed lightly, his dark eyes locked on her face as he said, word by word, "I'm very busy."
Lila had no choice but to say, "You handle your work first. When you're finished, I'll show you my chat history with Ethan. I won't hide a thing, I promise. Okay?"
