Chapter 202
Alexander was pressing and massaging his forehead when the phone on the center console rang.
It was Lila's phone.
He immediately looked over and caught a glimpse of the lit screen showing a message from Ethan's mom. His eyes narrowed instantly.
Without hesitation, Alexander picked up her phone and read the message clearly.
[Lila, are you busy lately? I'd like to take you shopping this weekend. Do you have time?]
Lila had been driving and hadn't seen who sent the message. But seeing Alexander completely disrespecting her privacy by just picking up and reading her phone, she said unhappily, "Why are you touching other people's stuff?"
"Other people? Who's 'other people'?"
"Put my phone down."
Alexander snorted coldly, looking like he was about to settle accounts with her. "Do you know who sent you that message?"
She frowned and asked back, "I haven't even looked yet. How would I know?"
"It's Ethan's mom."
Now Lila had no comeback.
Fine.
Lila didn't rush to grab her phone back. After all, he'd already read the message—there was no point snatching it back now, and besides, she was still driving.
She asked flatly, "What did she message me?"
"She wants to take you shopping this weekend."
"Got it."
Alexander snorted coldly. "Are you going to say yes?"
The car reached an intersection. Lila turned the steering wheel, and after making a right turn, she looked at Alexander and asked back, "Do you want me to say yes?"
Alexander glared at her coldly. "What, you still want to keep playing Ethan's girlfriend and go shopping with his mom? Lila, don't go looking for trouble just when I'm starting to treat you a bit better."
When he wasn't paying attention, Lila rolled her eyes. "I haven't even said anything yet, and you're already threatening me?"
"So what are you planning to do about it?"
"Of course I'm going to decline, and then contact Ethan to have him explain things clearly to his mom."
Hearing her say this, the displeasure in Alexander's chest finally eased a bit.
He adjusted his sitting position, a smile playing on his thin lips as he spoke slowly, "Good. When we get to the office, I'll watch you handle it."
Lila immediately said, "That's not necessary, is it?"
"Why not?"
"You're the CEO—you're very busy. I can handle this small matter myself. You don't need to worry about it."
Alexander said seriously, "You're Mrs. Sinclair. My own wife is about to go be someone else's daughter-in-law—how can that be a small matter?"
Lila felt helpless.
If that's how he wanted to see it, she had nothing to say.
Ten minutes later, the car stopped in the underground parking garage of the Sinclair Group.
Lila had just gotten out of the car when she saw the door of a red Porsche not far away also opening.
She'd only glanced over casually, not planning to stare, but just as she was about to look away, she saw that the person getting out was Ms. Hill.
Ms. Hill was wearing a knit dress with a light brown long coat over it. Her hair was tied in a low bun, making her look like a total beauty with class. Even Lila, as a woman herself, couldn't help but take a few extra looks.
She didn't understand—such a beautiful and capable woman had confessed to Alexander, and he could remain unmoved?
Must be because he's seen too many beautiful women.
But if he'd seen too many beautiful women, why would he repeatedly make moves on her, this unremarkable Mrs. Sinclair?
You just can't figure out what men are thinking.
Ms. Hill naturally noticed Alexander's car too, and besides, to get to the elevator, she had to pass by them.
She walked over.
Alexander had already gotten out of the car.
Lila walked to his side and quietly reminded him, "Boss, that's Ms. Hill. Ms. Hill is coming over."
Alexander frowned at her "the woman who likes you is coming" expression, his face darkening. "Lila, am I blind? Or tell me—what are you trying to say by reminding me that Ms. Hill is coming over?"
