Chapter 176

Chapter 176

Hearing this, Lila's expression changed slightly.

Her first reaction was to defend herself.

But then she thought, forget it.

After all, that's how he'd always defined her anyway. There was no point in explaining.

Lila looked up, gazing out through the windshield, and smiled indifferently. "Yeah, money-loving women like everything. I love money, so I like it too."

Alexander glanced at her, his eyes darkening.

Her ready admission made him feel like he'd punched cotton, utterly unsatisfying.

Alexander suddenly accelerated.

Lila felt the car speed up, but it wasn't over the limit.

She knew Alexander had been in the business world for years and still had a basic sense. Even if he was upset, he wouldn't do anything reckless like risking his life.

Lila leaned back in the passenger seat without a word.

After about five minutes, her phone suddenly rang.

She opened it to check the message. It was from Elara.

[Lila, are you free tomorrow night? Want to have dinner together? I need to vent about my boss. He's got so many issues, that guy is literally the most annoying person ever.]

Lila was free tomorrow night.

But she wasn't just Lila now. She was also Mrs. Sinclair.

And Alexander was extremely controlling, so she had to tell him in advance about whatever she wanted to do.

To be able to go out for dinner with Elara tomorrow, she turned to look at Alexander, who was driving, and reported without holding back. "My friend asked me to have dinner tomorrow night. Can you handle dinner on your own?"

He drove on, eyes on the road, and after she finished speaking, he asked coolly, "What do you think?"

Lila rolled her eyes.

Every day with these "what do you think" questions, but did what she thought even matter in the end?

Wasn't it always his decision anyway?

Poor her—though extremely dissatisfied inside, she still had to play along and answer, "I think you can. You're not a baby. Who can't manage on their own?"

The moment Lila finished speaking, there was a sharp, piercing screech as Alexander hit the brakes hard.

Her heart jumped a little.

He turned to stare at her, blue eyes cold and menacing, his face icy. "Can you speak properly or not?"

Lila pressed her lips together, lowered her eyes, and said softly and meekly, "I wasn't finished and you interrupted me. What I mainly meant was, how could you, the CEO of the Sinclair Group, possibly not be able to handle your own dinner?"

She'd figured Alexander out. Whenever he got angry, as long as she spoke quietly and acted weak, he wouldn't do anything to her.

As long as she didn't directly oppose his ideas, she'd be fine.

Soon, Lila heard Alexander speak in an icy tone, "You've been getting more and more bold lately."

"No, I wouldn't dare."

"I'm warning you, be more polite when you talk to me from now on. Less sarcasm."

She nodded obediently. "Okay, I understand."

He coldly withdrew his gaze and started driving again.

Lila breathed a sigh of relief.

Although he hadn't really done anything to her, whether she could go out tomorrow night was still a mystery.

Lila had no choice but to look at him again, steeling herself to ask, "So can I go out to dinner with my friend tomorrow night?"

He acted like he hadn't heard, saying nothing.

This silence made Lila assume it was a no, and she couldn't help feeling dejected, her face falling.

Alexander caught a glimpse of her from the corner of his eye. Seeing her frowning unhappily, he narrowed his eyes slightly and casually tossed her a few questions. "What friend? Male or female? What time, and where?"
