Chapter 15
Lila wanted to say that she hadn't driven since getting her license.
But Alexander didn't even let her finish. He just stepped into the back seat.
Lila was completely helpless.
But now that things had come to this, she had no choice but to take on the job.
In the driver's seat, Lila figured out what everything did and finally started the car.
Alexander had been looking at his laptop since getting in, like he'd already gone into work mode.
She backed up super slowly, drove the car out of the villa and onto the main road, then crept forward at a snail's pace. There weren't many cars on this stretch through the villa area, but every time someone passed her, she'd jump in fright.
After who knows how long, the car merged onto the main road.
Alexander had been working for about ten minutes and was getting tired. He closed his laptop and rubbed his temples. As he lowered his hand, he casually glanced out the window and saw they were still only two or three kilometers from Island Mansion. He instantly got angry.
Alexander was really annoyed, his voice rising, "Lila, what are you doing?"
"I... I'm driving." As Lila spoke, a car suddenly zoomed past her, making her so nervous that her hands were sweating on the steering wheel.
She should have just admitted she'd never driven before.
Her mind was a mess, but Alexander kept bossing her around, "Stop dragging your feet. Speed up."
Lila instinctively stepped on the gas.
But then the light ahead turned red!
Seeing the red light, she immediately tried to hit the brakes, but in her panic, she pressed the gas even harder.
With a loud crash, she... rear-ended someone.
"What are you doing?" Alexander's annoyed voice rang out.
A car accident!
Lila had never been in this situation before. She was completely panicked and confused, just sitting frozen in the driver's seat, forgetting to even get out.
It wasn't until the driver of the car she'd hit got out and banged hard on her window that she finally snapped out of it, rolled down the window, and mechanically got out of the car.
Before she could even say "I'm sorry," the other driver started yelling, "Do you even know how to drive? Look what you did to my car! Are you blind?"
The back window slowly rolled down.
When Lila saw Alexander's face appear, her fear grew even worse.
Even though she was upset after being chewed out by the other driver, since it was her fault, she still tried to apologize, "I'm sor..."
Before she could finish apologizing, Alexander's calm voice cut in, "Traffic accidents happen. Insurance can handle it. But personal attacks count as slander, which is a legal issue."
He lazily looked up at the other driver and smiled coldly, "Sir, are you trying to break the law?"
The other driver had been in the right, but after hearing Alexander say this, he seemed intimidated. Plus, seeing Alexander's expensive clothes and impressive presence, he swallowed the rest of his insults.
Probably because Alexander's presence was so strong, the other driver didn't talk to him, but turned to Lila instead, "Miss, you tell me, how are we going to solve this?"
Lila looked at Alexander pleadingly.
Alexander ignored her and took out his phone to make a call.
Seeing Lila stay silent, the driver snorted, "Working and living out here, can't even speak up for yourself. I've got to get to work. You're not planning to waste an hour or two here, are you?"
Lila knew playing dumb wasn't going to work. She forced herself to speak, "I'm just the driver. Let me ask my boss. Just a moment."
She looked at Alexander.
Alexander's call had already connected. Lila heard him say, "Corner of Riverside Road and Creek Road. Come pick me up."
No sound from the other end.
"The car hit someone. You contact the insurance company to handle it."
Still no sound from the other end.
"Yeah, that car."
After Alexander calmly hung up, he lazily looked at Lila.
