Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Lila couldn't understand what Alexander meant at all.

She just felt that the force pressing against her chin was way too strong. Her chin hurt so much it felt like it was about to dislocate. Her red lips sent out a distress signal, "Boss, it hurts."

Alexander looked at her scrunched-up little face, his blue eyes flickering slightly. He loosened his grip a bit, but didn't let go completely.

The pain eased, but Lila's eyes turned red.

She complained to Alexander, "Grandma wanted to create a good rest environment for me because she likes me. You don't want to listen to Grandma because you hate me. Neither of you is wrong, but does that mean I'm wrong? I've been passively accepting a lot of things too. Why do you always take it out on me?"

Alexander looked at her reddening eyes, feeling an inexplicable flutter in his heart.

However, all the complaints in Lila's words sounded extremely ironic to him.

In an instant, Alexander's anger flared up. He sneered coldly, "How convenient 'passively accepting.' Was marrying me passive too? If you didn't agree, could Grandma have held a knife to your throat to force you?"

Lila felt the pressure on her chin lighten, so she reached up and brushed away his large hand.

At the same time, Lila lifted her face to meet his gaze, "Just like you agreed to marry me after weighing the pros and cons, I married you because of my own situation. Neither of us is more noble than the other. You have no reason to blame everything on me!"

"So you think you're in the right?"

"I just think that since things are already settled, you might as well accept it calmly. Even if we can't be as harmonious and loving as ordinary couples, we should at least respect each other and stop bullying me all the time. That way, you'll feel better too, and you won't get angry every time you see me."

Alexander's gaze at her grew increasingly deep.

After years in the business world, no one had ever dared lecture him.

But today, this crude, poor girl was actually taking it upon herself to teach him a lesson?

A deeply conflicted feeling filled his mind.

Alexander had never taken Lila seriously, but what she said today was, damn it, actually reasonable!

Yes, they'd already gotten their marriage certificate. This relationship as legal husband and wife, at least in name, wouldn't change for a year. No matter how much he took his anger out on her, it wouldn't help anything.

Lila saw that he'd stopped talking and felt relieved.

Alexander was too mean.

He bullied her whenever he got the chance.

She sneaked a glance at him and saw he was still silent. Assuming he was still considering what she'd just said, she boldly continued her pitch, "Didn't you say you wanted me to be responsible for your three meals a day? From now on, just think of me as a temporary worker who cooks for you. You're a big CEO. There's no need to get angry with a small-time temporary worker."

Lila didn't know if saying this would help, or if it would move him even a little.

But she thought that as the CEO of the Sinclair Group, holding such a high position and being so worldly, he must have a broad perspective and a sharp mind.

However, Alexander stepped closer to her, his lips curling into a contemptuous smile, "I am indeed very busy, and I've never thought a woman like you. Someone who can treat her own marriage as a transaction for money is worth my time."

Hearing this, Lila thought he'd actually listened to what she said.

But then Alexander's eyes turned cold, and that contemptuous smile at the corner of his mouth twisted into something nasty, "However, like you said, marrying you was the result of weighing pros and cons. Since this result makes me unhappy, why shouldn't I transfer that unhappiness onto you to make myself feel better?"
