Chapter 258
Chapter 258
As soon as the words left his mouth, Lila glanced at his hand holding her chin.
His movements were actually much gentler than before. His fingertips just lightly lifted her chin without applying force, no longer pinching painfully like he used to.
The pressure was just right, so what Lila felt most clearly at this moment was the warm touch of his fingertips against her chin.
She could also smell the orange-scented hand soap on his hands.
Hand soap that she had bought, no less.
Lila realized her mind was wandering and quickly pulled her thoughts back. Then she removed his hand, her almond-shaped eyes staring at him with displeasure. "Boss, can you please stop touching me every time you talk to me?"
"Every time?"
"Yes, you do this to me all the time."
At this point, she couldn't help but grumble, "In the eyes of everyone at the Sinclair Group, you're this noble and cold person who rarely even smiles, but with me, you like to touch me whenever you say anything. It doesn't match your CEO image at all."
She was starting to wonder if his image in front of others was just an act.
Hearing this, Alexander let out an ambiguous hum. "Then Mrs. Sinclair should think about why I only act this way with you."
Lila stood quietly without responding, but thought to herself, Because you can't keep your hands to yourself.
The bell rang.
The elevator stopped and the doors slowly opened.
Alexander glanced at Lila, who was obediently standing there waiting for him to exit the elevator first. Finding her quite well-behaved, and remembering what she had just said about him not touching her, he deliberately reached out and placed his hand on the back of her head, messily ruffling her hair a few times before stepping off the elevator with a pleased smile.
Lila felt helpless at Alexander's childishness.
She tidied her hair, furrowed her brow, and followed behind Alexander toward the CEO's office.
Lila stared at his back, her face showing displeasure.
After all that talk, he still messed up her hair and didn't even tell her what surprise he was planning for Wesley.
Why was Alexander so mean?
As Lila walked with her head down, lost in thought, she heard a clear female voice, "Brother!"
She immediately looked up and saw a girl standing by the sofa in Alexander's office.
The girl was now enthusiastically waving at him and smiling.
Lila remembered this person—Arabella, Alexander's cousin. Last time at the Mansion, she had argued with Isadora.
Why was she here?
As Lila wondered this, Alexander also asked with an indifferent expression. "Why are you here?"
Arabella smiled at him. "I have a dance class later, and it happens to be in this same building as the Sinclair Group. But the dance studio isn't open yet, so I came to wait in your office for a bit, brother."
Alexander's expression was cold. "Don't come into my office without permission from now on."
Arabella pouted and said "okay," nodding seriously, "Alright, brother, I got it."
As she finished speaking, she looked at Lila behind Alexander and waved enthusiastically. "Hello, sister-in-law."
Sister-in-law?
Hearing this greeting, Lila's first reaction was to look back and check if the office door was closed!
Thankfully... she had closed the door when she came in.
She looked at Arabella somewhat awkwardly and said, "Um, he and I—"
For a moment, Lila didn't know how to refer to Alexander in front of Arabella, and finally just said, "We're keeping the marriage secret right now. People at the company don't know, so please help keep it confidential, Miss Sinclair."
"Secret marriage?"
Arabella's eyes darted around, then she looked at Alexander with a smile and asked, "Brother, is it because you think sister-in-law comes from a humble background and you're afraid she'll embarrass you, so that's why you're keeping the marriage secret?"
