Chapter 234

Chapter 234

Lila's laugh was awkward.

Alexander pressed his thin lips into a straight line and said nothing after Wesley finished speaking.

Wesley must have valued this collaboration highly to express his interest in a woman in front of Alexander. At this moment, he couldn't help but press further, "Now that Mr. Sinclair knows how I feel, do you still think there's no room for discussion about our collaboration?"

Alexander's gaze shifted from Wesley to Lila. "Come here."

Lila was slightly stunned, not knowing what he wanted, but she still walked over. Although she hadn't done anything wrong, she couldn't help but stutter, "Boss, what's wrong?"

Alexander looked down at her and asked back, "Mr. Morris likes you. What do you think about that?"

"Me?"

She repeated the word, then shook her head, "I don't have any thoughts about it."

Alexander stared at her nervous eyes with a half-smile, "Mr. Morris is risking losing the chance to work with the Sinclair Group to hit on you. Shouldn't you give him some kind of response?"

Lila felt like she was being roasted between two powerful men.

Hit on?

Such harsh words. Is this the language level of the Sinclair Group's CEO?

That's what Lila thought, but she didn't dare show any resistance, afraid that Alexander might misunderstand and think she'd actually been flirting with Wesley behind his back. Her face scrunched up, and the only thing she felt deeply was how awkward this was.

"Give Mr. Morris a response!" Alexander suddenly repeated, this time his voice much sharper.

Lila frowned.

Respond with what?

Should she say she's married, or that she doesn't like him?

While she was struggling, Wesley's voice came through, "Mr. Sinclair, you don't need to put so much pressure on Miss Grace. I don't need her to respond to me. Besides, we haven't known each other long. I was being presumptuous. I don't want to scare her."

Although these words were meant to protect Lila and help her out of this situation.

Lila felt that Wesley was playing with fire and might get burned himself.

Especially after he said this to Alexander, he looked at her again, "Miss Grace, I'm sorry for causing you trouble."

Lila didn't dare say a word to him.

She looked weakly at Alexander, "Boss, if you and Mr. Morris need to talk business, maybe you should go to your office? My place isn't suitable."

"Which ear heard me say we're talking business?"

Lila was very clear about that too.

She lowered her eyes and said nothing.

Alexander looked at Wesley and smiled, "Looks like my driver doesn't seem to like Mr. Morris. The only woman Mr. Morris has taken an interest in all these years is probably going to disappoint him."

"Mr. Sinclair doesn't need to think that way. The purpose of liking someone isn't to get a response. I believe many female employees at the Sinclair Group have feelings for Mr. Sinclair, but they've probably never asked Mr. Sinclair to respond to them, right?"

"You're a man. Why are you comparing yourself to women?"

Wesley's expression remained gentle, "When it comes to feelings, gender doesn't matter."

Alexander stared at her with an unclear meaning, his lips barely curved, "Seems like Mr. Morris has deep feelings for my driver?"

"A strong impression. A desire to know her better."

"The president of Washington Tech doesn't usually pursue a woman without checking if she's single first, does he?"

Hearing this, Wesley was first surprised, then lowered his eyes with a light laugh and spoke on his own, "Liking someone isn't something that stops just because the other person is single. Besides, in today's society, people's hearts are restless. Not only is the breakup rate high for couples, but even for married couples, the divorce rate hits new highs every year. So whether she's single or not isn't within my consideration. I just need to wait for her long enough."
