Chapter 215
As Lila spoke, her voice got lower and lower.
When she finished, a dejected expression appeared on her face.
Alexander frowned and shoved her bag against her chest. "Hold it yourself then."
With that, he strode toward the office door.
Lila's face immediately lit up with a happy smile.
Lila chuckled to herself, surprised that her acting skills had gotten so good—Alexander believed her with just a little performance.
But then again, he had it coming.
Who told him to always bully her before?
Lila grabbed her bag and quickly caught up with Alexander.
The two of them entered the CEO's private elevator one after the other.
After they left, the employees working in the executive office suddenly started commenting.
"Is it just me, or does the picture of Mr. Sinclair and his driver together look more and more harmonious?"
"True, Mr. Sinclair used to look so cold when leaving work before, but today he seems much warmer."
"This morning, Mr. Sinclair even came upstairs with his driver!"
After discussing among themselves, several people turned to look at Charlie.
Someone took the lead and asked, "Charlie, you're the employee closest to Mr. Sinclair. Do you know if there's any secret between Mr. Sinclair and his driver?"
Charlie, suddenly called out, twitched his mouth. "No idea."
"Come on, tell us. This afternoon when you had me book a restaurant, it was for Mr. Sinclair, right?"
"Don't ask about things you shouldn't. Curiosity kills the cat."
The employees stopped pressing further.
Underground parking garage.
Lila got off the elevator and followed behind Alexander, walking toward the parking spot.
When they got closer, she quickened her pace, passing Alexander and heading toward the driver's seat.
Seeing her about to drive, Alexander instinctively reached out and grabbed her hand.
Lila felt the sudden warmth in her palm, and her fingers curled involuntarily.
She looked at Alexander in confusion. "Boss, what's wrong?"
"I'll drive."
"That's not necessary."
Alexander could tell what was going through her head just by looking at her expression. He scoffed lightly. "Don't worry, I won't criticize your driving."
Only then did Lila agree. "Okay then."
Just as she finished speaking, she saw Ms. Hill walking toward them from not far away and quickly pulled her hand out of Alexander's palm.
The sudden movement made Alexander frown immediately.
He stared at her with displeasure. "What are you doing?"
Lila covered her lips with one hand and mouthed to Alexander, "Ms. Hill is here."
As she spoke, she raised her other hand and pointed.
Alexander's expression darkened as he looked in the direction she was pointing.
Ms. Hill had already seen them. Now, seeing Alexander look over, she gave him a faint smile. "Mr. Sinclair, I'm off work."
"Alright, drive carefully."
"Will do."
After the brief exchange, Ms. Hill got in her car, backed out of the parking spot, and left.
Alexander also turned back, his gaze falling on Lila again. His calm eyes turned displeased the moment they met the woman's. "Seeing Ms. Hill scares you that much? What guilty thing have you done to her?"
"I haven't done anything. It's just that she likes you."
"So what? Are you planning to act all guilty like this every time we're together and run into Ms. Hill?"
Looking at Alexander's displeased expression, Lila felt quite wronged herself.
She explained to him in a low voice, "In Ms. Hill's eyes, I'm just your driver after all. If she had seen you holding my hand just now, she would definitely suspect there's something inappropriate going on between us."
