Chapter 200
Lila never expected that when Alexander said he wanted to ask for her opinion as a reference, this was how he'd do it!
Being with him was like one trap after another waiting for her to fall into!
What kind of weird question was that?
How was she supposed to answer?
Say she liked kissing him?
Or say she liked being kissed by him?
Weren't they both the same thing about kissing?
And every answer was impossible to say out loud!
Lila felt completely cornered by Alexander.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" After waiting a long time without a response, Alexander pressed her.
Lila stared into his eyes, steeled herself, and spoke, "I like you making the decision."
A hint of surprise flickered in Alexander's eyes as he raised an eyebrow with a light laugh, "Oh? Really?"
"Yeah, you're a company leader. You make decisions all the time, and they're usually right, so whatever you want to do, you decide."
"What I want isn't limited to just kissing."
Lila was too scared to continue this topic.
Was he going to start with this kind of talk again?
She pressed her lips together and reminded him, "But you asked about kissing, so don't drag other things into it."
Alexander looked at her distressed and helpless little face, his voice carrying a touch of indulgence, "Alright, I'll listen to Mrs. Sinclair."
For a moment, Lila thought his voice sounded unreasonably pleasant.
Also, his temper seemed to have improved overnight.
Could one kiss have changed Alexander's personality?
How strange.
As her thoughts wandered, her chin was suddenly lifted.
Lila realized they were about to kiss. Her heart instantly jumped to her throat, but just as she was convincing herself to accept it, Alexander only brushed her lips lightly before pulling away.
She stared at him in confusion, her almond-shaped eyes full of questions.
Alexander raised an eyebrow, "What, not satisfied?"
This teasing question with its playful tone made Lila feel like her heart had been struck hard by an electric current.
She pushed him away with her hand and stepped back two paces, "Hurry up and go to work."
"Okay." Alexander dropped that single word and naturally took her hand, walking toward the entrance.
Lila looked at the hand he was holding, her eyes wide.
What was this move about?
She felt her heart was under continuous attack right now, thumping away, unable to calm down.
Lila had always thought she was clear-headed and rational, but now, thinking back on how Alexander said he'd reduce her workload, kissed her, held her hand, and spoke gently to her, she felt things were developing in a direction beyond her control.
If this continued, she might really fall for him.
But if she did fall for him and they became a normal couple, she wouldn't have to face pressure and mockery anymore - wouldn't that actually be a good situation?
Thinking this way, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
As soon as they reached the courtyard, Lila let go of Alexander's hand and jogged over to the driver's side of the car, getting in.
She was the driver; she'd drive, to avoid leaving any opportunity for a lecture.
Alexander quickly got in the car.
Lila started the engine and drove out. After just a few minutes, Alexander, in the passenger seat, spoke, "Ms. Hill confessed her feelings to me yesterday."
She acknowledged with a sound and rolled her eyes, "Didn't you not want to talk about it?"
"Now I do."
"Is that so?"
Alexander sat upright in the passenger seat, a rare touch of warmth appearing on his usually cold face as he spoke deliberately, "Ms. Hill said she liked me, and to get close to me, she fought her way up from an intern all the way to CFO of the Sinclair Group."
Having said this, his gaze on her deepened, "Right then I was thinking, if Mrs. Sinclair liked me, what would she be willing to do for me?"
