Chapter 197
"Absolutely not!"
Lila denied it without a second thought.
After denying it, as if worried Elara wouldn't believe her, she started complaining at length, "Elara, you have no idea how terrible he is. He's bossy and controlling, super possessive, and even more controlling. Everything between us is his way or the highway. Plus he's a neat freak, and he uses that as an excuse to boss me around. He makes me cook for him every day, and then he's picky about my food. His mood keeps swinging between angry and happy, and he loves to second-guess people!"
After rattling all that off in one breath, she asked back, "With all these flaws, why would I like him?"
On the screen, Elara just smiled without saying anything.
Lila froze for a moment, suddenly feeling less confident, "What are you smiling about?"
"How many days have you two been married? Not even ten days! In less than ten days, you already know him this well, and you say you don't like him? I'm having a hard time believing that."
"No, it's just that he makes it so obvious every day that I can tell."
Elara went along with her. "Sure, you're right about all that. But Lila, Mr. Sinclair is also very rich, very handsome, the CEO of the Sinclair Group, and secretly admired by many socialites in Oceancrest City. If he's really that bad, why do so many people like him?"
Lila thought about it and answered, "Maybe other people don't really know him."
"Since you know him, you should understand that Mr. Sinclair runs the Sinclair Group and has to make countless decisions every day, so being a bit bossy is pretty normal. After all, if he didn't have some edge, how would he get his employees to respect him? And about the control thing—he's a CEO, for crying out loud. Without some ability to take charge, the company would've gone under ages ago, right?"
Lila couldn't help but think along with Elara's reasoning.
She found herself speechless against what Elara was saying.
Elara asked again, "Since you got married, aside from being a bit controlling and having a sharp tongue, has he actually bullied you?"
"I guess not."
"See? He was forced to marry you and feels uncomfortable about it, but he hasn't bullied you. At most he's just a bit picky, a bit controlling, and occasionally says some harsh things to let off steam. That's already pretty good, okay? Take my advice—a man who doesn't cheat, doesn't abuse, has no physical problems, has money, and has good values is definitely a great match for marriage!"
Lila's thoughts wavered.
Actually, Alexander might not be as bad as she thought.
Maybe because she'd faced so much criticism from him since getting their marriage certificate, she'd never looked at him with fair eyes.
Coming back to her senses, Lila thought of another point, "But he likes Celeste. That counts as emotional cheating."
"Can't you just try a little, use some of your charm, and make him like you? He already kissed you! By the way, when he kissed you, did he have any other reactions?"
"What are you talking about?"
Elara tried hard to express what she meant, "Did his body react? If his body also reacted, it would be even easier for you two to develop feelings. Men can easily fall in love through physical attraction."
Lila felt a bit embarrassed.
She gave a light laugh and said evasively, "Okay Elara, I need to sleep now. Good night."
"Wait, I'm not done asking."
"I'm too tired."
With that, Lila quickly hung up the video call.
But after the bedroom went quiet, Elara's question popped back into her mind.
Could she really be falling for Alexander?
Probably not.
At most, she just didn't dislike him.
In Lila's view, there was only one way she could fall for Alexander. If he got rid of his sharp tongue problem and then pursued her!
But he was such a proud man, rich and handsome. He definitely wouldn't pursue her.
So this was a dead end.
She and Alexander had no future!
Still, how was she going to face him tomorrow?
